Editor’s Note Celebrating the LLQ Lifestyle 2 years ago, I launched the LLQ Lifestyle magazine with a clear vision of what I wanted it to be. The idea came to me while sitting with my clients in a restaurant in Doha, looking through some Qatar Motor Show photos (yes, I was actually required to do that for work! And yeah, I still left that job).

While my eyes gleam in glam and sophistication, something stood out to me. I wanted to give words to my oozing feelings about how versatile Qatar’s lifestyle is. I wanted to share it with the world!

As I began a career in marketing for brands, my passion to publish reviews in a magazine that can cater to all the sectors of Qatar’s lifestyle and hospitality industry increased. An idea started taking shape.

What if I could start my own magazine?

The one for people of Qatar like myself, who are passionate about their homeland, the Qatari lifestyle, and who also wished to find a way to endow their ethics and feel empowered?

And after 2 years of the successful publication, I’m contented to look back at the journey I came through. LLQ Lifestyle is a magazine of Qatar, for the Qatari people, and for the future.

Through the years, LLQ Lifestyle Magazine has evolved to become much more than ‘just’ a lifestyle mag.

We’ve created a repo of showcasing the Qatar’s lifestyle industry, hospitality industry, and media to an extent that our issues are now have become marketing assets for the brands and businesses.

But it’s not enough.

We decided to level up by appreciating the ones who stand out. So we launched LLQ Lifestyle Choice Awards to celebrate the difference.

About the Opening of the New Flagship Printemps Store in Doha Qatar and the unique experience that customers can expect Karen told us about the good news. The first major postconfinement department store in the world –Printemps Paris is coming to Doha to offer a new generation of luxury combining a high-end physical experience and innovative tech solutions for highly personalized customer service.

Living and working in Qatar with a French background have created unique skills in Jennifer. She loves to indulge herself in collaborating with the French and Arabic cultures. The outcome is a mix of sophistication since both cultures have their own refined values.

Karen’s take on having the Strong Entrepreneurial Spirit Leadership is all about character. It doesn’t matter whether we are men or women, stated Karen.

The “entrepreneurial” spirit is strength no matter what. It allows you to remain agile in all circumstances, to bounce back, create, and innovate. And above all to be in tune with the new generations. We wanted to create a light, flexible and dedicated structure within Printemps (in connection with the Printemps ecosystem) that would allow us to move forward quickly.

I gathered around me specialized and complementary skills, internally and externally. The large groups that know how to adapt are often those who also know how to create “intrapreneurial” and innovative structures. In this case, we combine the strength of the large group and the agility of the light and entrepreneurial structure.

THE LORO PIANA KNIT DESIGN AWARD 2022: BETWEEN TRADITION AND FUTURE

Loro Piana announces the winners of the sixth edition of the Loro Piana Knit Design Award, an international competition dedicated to talented students that give their own creative interpretation of some iconic yarns that represent the excellence of the maison. Through this initiative, in which the most prestigious international design schools have participated since the first edition in 2016, Loro Piana continues to maintain its commitment to training and supporting young talents, with the aim of passing on the inestimable experience in the field of textiles that is one of its hallmarks.

The theme of this edition is “Rediscovery”: rediscovering a heritage and its roots in a spirit of curiosity and inventiveness that leads to explore everything around us in a new guise. The protagonist of this style exercise is one of Loro Piana’s icons, the Traveller Jacket, a perfect synthesis of natural elegance and versatility. Students from six schools of fashion and design - North Carolina State University, the Institut Français de la Mode, Heriot Watt University of Edinburgh, the Politecnico di Milano, Shenkar College of Tel Aviv and Bunka Fashion College of Tokyo – were asked to reinterpret the Traveller Jacket and create a personal, knitwear version, delving into tradition and future, tailoring and experimentation. After an initial briefing, the young designers had the opportunity to see and learn about the maison’s extremely highquality materials and know-how, and to observe and collaborate with the R&D team, participating in guided visits of knitting workshops to discover the entire production process at a first-hand level.

The project finalists were presented on June 21st during a special event at Loro Piana’s new headquarters, Palazzo Cortile della Seta, in via della Moscova 33 in Milan, with a jury of experts made up of some internal representatives including CEO Damien Bertrand, as well as personalities such as Sara Sozzani Maino, Head of Special Projects for Vogue Italia, Beka Gvishiani, founder of Stylenotcom, Chet Lo, knitwear designer, and Letizia Schätzinger, TikToker and content creator. The winners were students Po-Chieh Chiu and Shanon Poupard from the Institut Français de la Mode, Paris.

The winning pair received the prestigious Loro Piana Knit Design Award 2022 and, for the first time, an employment contract with the company. The two students will also have the opportunity to create the finished garment in the knitwear workshop of the maison’s historic Italian site: they will be able to work alongside Loro Piana artisans, experience first-hand all the stages that lead to the creation of an item, and learn secrets and small attentions from the maison’s team of professionals, who will put their experience at their service, to make the Traveller Jacket in a revamped guise.

Hirt, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration and a Master’s in Business Administration, brings to the leadership role almost three decades of hospitality and F&B expertise, honed in award-wining properties across Europe, Australia and the United States. He will head an experienced, multi-national executive team with many members having been involved in the launch and relaunch of national landmark hotels and resorts.

Before starting the implant treatment, the patient undergoes a general examination.

A panoramic or tomographic x-ray, if needed, is taken on the jaw in order to assess the condition of the jawbone and, the bone density on the location, where the implant is to be placed.

A

ccording to this radiographic and intraoral examination assessment, the length, width and location of the implant are definitely identified and, the operation stage is started. During the application, the bone is reached with a cut on the gum. The jaw bone is drilled according to the implant measurement and, the implant is screwed. The time for the implant procedure is about 15 to 25 minutes.

BROCHURE Implants With Advanced Surgery In Case Of Bone Deficiency In case the bone density and amount is not suitable for the implant during the implant treatment, a bone graft application is performed and, it is waited for the ossification of the location and, the implants are placed after the ossification. In order to move to the prosthesis stage, the implant needs to be set with the 40

jaw bone. The time for the completion of this stage may vary between 2 and 3 months. After the implant has been unified with the jaw bone, it is time to prepare the prosthesis. First, the dental measurement and the color matching are completed and then the dental prosthesis are prepared by the technician at the porcelain laboratories in a way that matches with the original teeth considering the cosmetic appearance; after the intraoral trials, the last shape is identified and, during the last stage, the prosthesis are placed by means of screwing or bonding on the implant.

Will I Feel Pain When The Implant Is Placed?

Local anesthesia is applied during the implant application.

Therefore, no pain is felt. Most of the time, it is simpler even than the tooth extraction. One may feel some slight pain after the effect of anesthesia goes down following the completion of the implant procedures. Many patients report that this pain is less than the pain experienced after the tooth extraction. Pain killers may be taken to handle with this pain. Otherwise, the dentist must be contacted.

Overreaction may occur for the patients with hypertension in case of pain and stress. In case of overreaction against stimulus, the blood pressure may acutely increase during the dental treatment, which may result in congestive heart failure and complications such as paralysis, bleeding etc. in rare cases. Therefore, before the dental treatment for patients with hypertension, the blood pressure should be measured and, in case of any suspicion, the respective physicians should be consulted with.

Is There A Risk That The Implant Is Rejected By The Body?

There is no such thing that the implants are not accepted by the organism. There is no known adverse effect or allergic reaction caused by the implants on human body. It is not possible for the body to produce antigens against and reject them, which may happen during the heart and kidney transplantations.

What Are The Medical Problems That May Prevent The Use Of Implants?

Excessive Cigarette Consumption Smoking may cause the formation of bacterial plaque in the mouth and increase the risk of infection. Carbon monoxide and toxic effects of smoking may have negative impacts on the unification of the implant with the bone. It is recommended that smoking implant patients cease to smoke 15 days before the treatment and, for up to 1 month after the treatment.

Diabetes Patients with diabetes not under control are among the risky groups in respect of implant procedures. Tissue healing in patients with diabetes is a slow process, which increases the risk of infection. The surgical operation area is kept as small as possible for patients with diabetes. It is very important for patients with diabetes to maintain mouth hygiene after the completion of the implant treatment. Patients with diabetes should regularly attend the periodic controls by their dentists.

Heart Condition Implant procedures should not be started before the medical consultation of the patient with their physicians.

Blood Coagulation Disorders Implant will not be placed for patients with blood coagulation disorders.

Is There Any Age Limit For The Implant Applications?

Implant is directly related to the quality and amount of the jaw bone. Therefore, implant is not placed for any patient whose bone development has not been completed yet. The bone development is completed after 15 to 16 years for women while it takes 17 to 18 years for men. While there is a lower age limit in respect of bone development for the implant treatment, there is no upper age limit. There is no objection to the performance of the implant treatment for those who are well up in years if they are in good health condition and there is a sufficient amount of jaw bones.

What Should Be Done For A Good Oral Health Care After The Implant?

Oral hygiene is essential to protect the original teeth and implants. It should be attached importance to the oral care within the first 2 days after the completion of the implant treatment. One should avoid any movement that may cause intraoral pressure.

One should not gargle for the entire period of 1 day after the implant has been placed. There are some points that need to be considered in respect of tooth brushing and use of dental flosses during the first days of the treatment: once should move as smooth as possible during these actions. A regular and careful cleaning of the formation of dental plaques will have an impact on the long term success of the operation. After the completion of the prosthesis operation, you will be recommended by your dentists and their assistants about the methods and products for the oral care. In addition to these practices you are supposed to follow, we recommend you revisit our clinic once every six months even if you have no complaint.

A gummy smile, also known as the excessive gingival display is a smile that shows an excessive amount of gum under the upper lip.

What causes a gummy smile and how can you fix it?

1) A Bad Bite: One of the hereditary things that can cause a gummy smile can be a bad bite. When your top jaw does not align properly with your bottom jaw.

2) Hyperactive Upper Lip: A hyperactive lip occurs when the muscles in the upper lip and under the nose are well, hyperactive.

This repeated overuse of those muscles can cause the top lip to raise and expose gum tissue.

3) Too much Gum Tissue: The most common cause. During the eruption of permanent teeth, sometimes there is an overgrowth of gum tissue that covers too much of the teeth. This will result in Gummy Appearance.

Treatment: Scaling & Root planning: When a gummy smile is caused by inflamed and infected gums, often the best way to treat it is to start with a deep professional dental cleaning called scaling and root planning.

Gum lift or crown lengthening: If the cause of the gummy smile is simply too much gum tissue covering the teeth, a gum lift or a crown lengthening may be the best option.

The gum tissue around the teeth and restructures the gum line to be higher, showing off more pearly whites.

Lack of interest, lack of focus in what you should be aiming, or even the intensity or newness of what’s distracting you – doing multiple things at once will only lead you to subpar outcomes. So unyielding focus was a non-negotiable for Ahmad.

Being an athlete, Ahmad knows that allowing distractions to interrupt your focus will always elude you. That’s why his eyes are always fixated on his goals.

Every athlete has untapped potential. It just need recognition and then a firm belief in oneself to win the competition.

Practice Endurance Nature is indiscriminate. Nothing comes easy and trials and errors are the cruelest teacher. Because no one is born knowing everything, we have to keep learning and fill in the gaps of our understanding about the world and how things work.
