Lloydminster faces North rivals in the AJHL.
The Lloydminster Native Friendship Centre (LNFC) received a large donation of 1,000 pounds of food from Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Lloydminster. Deborah Munroe, LNFC executive director, says the donation was prepared in individual bags for families. “I was actually quite surprised they came in individual bags prepared for the families,” she said. “It was a really nice gesture. They support us a lot throughout the year.” She says the donation comes just after the holidays, which can be a difficult time for some families. “Christmas is a hard time for a lot of folks, they’re trying to provide for their families,” said Munroe. “So, a little bit of help is always welcome and needed.” She says any family connected with the centre can receive a bag. “Any families that are connected with our centre will have an opportunity to get a bag of food,” she said. Imran Nasir, imam/missionary at Baitul Amaan Mosque Lloydminster, says the donation goal was reached. “The goal was at least 1,000 pounds, so that’s what we did,” he said. The donation came from their local members. “It’s basically from the members of our community who donated for this cause,” said Nasir. “The donation came from the members of our Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at community.” He says the goal was to donate the food at the beginning of the year. “This is basically to greet people for the new year and to reach the people who need us and help them as much as possible,” he explained. “That’s how we start our new year. We have to do this all year if we are doing it on the first day of the year.” The donation to the friendship centre was one of the donations

Nasir says they began on Christmas by donating pizzas. “On Christmas Day, we went out in town and donated pizza to homeless people and we donated 15 large pizzas,” he said. Then on New Year’s Eve, they went around the neighbourhood near the mosque to greet people for the new year. “On Dec. 31, 2025, we distributed around 120 gift packages to the neighbours of our mosque to greet them for the new year,” he said. Nasir says they try to give back as much as possible. “We try to do everything possible to serve those who need us.”
