They have set the pace, but we will win the war! Target is giving away 5 million dollars to school all over the country through Give With Target. All you have to do to vote is find the link on the Lakeside Web page or the Lakeside Facebook page. Select any K–12 school from the list of eligible schools and vote for it weekly until September 21 or until $5 million has been awarded, whichever happens first. It takes just 25 votes to start. After that, Tar-

get will donate $25 to your selected school. After receiving 25 votes, each additional vote equals $1 more for up to $10,000 per school. The current leader in our state is Shoreland Lutheran High School. Shoreland Lutheran challenged us to a competition to see which school could get the most votes after they already had more than a 400 vote lead. Shoreland has even been so bold as to call us out on their school Web page. Lakeside is not even on the leaderboard for Wisconsin. If we all vote and have our parents vote too, together we can defeat the Shoreland Pacers.

The internet is a great thing. It can people help connect with friends, find information, and download useful software. But among all the good things, there are many bad people whose intent is to destroy property, steal, or just make a person’s life difficult. Cyber-security is becoming a growing issue in the world today, and in order to prevent one from becoming the next victim of identity theft or a virus, there are a few simple tips to remember. To start, up-to-date anti-virus software is a necessity. Downloading a virus is not fun. There are many different companies that

People go through life with so many worries and fears. Some get worked up and lose courage and lose sight of what we are trying to get to. We can get so caught up in the worldly things that we lose sight of what is ahead and waiting for us and the end. Also, God could be forgotten but He tells us that He is always with us no matter where we go. He is in control. So when we have heartbreaks, grades, sports, and families to face we do not have to be scared, but we can put our confidence in the Lord because He is in control and is always with us.

software for protecting a computer such as Norton, Trend-Micro, or AVG. They all are fairly inexpensive programs, but if money is a problem, AVG offers a free version of their software (at www.avg.com) that still provides adequate protection. The best way, though, to not get a virus is prevention. Another common way hackers can threaten someone’s security is through hacking passwords. Many people use only two or three, or sometimes even a single password for all of their accounts. But if a hacker figures out a password, they instantly have access to all of the accounts. Although the internet can be a scary world, protection from hackers can be easy.
