New STEM camp this year staff reporter
Matthias Winters (Jr.)
For the first time ever, Lakeside will hold a STEM camp during the summer. During July 24-27, up to 75 5-8th graders will be in the Lakeside classrooms creating fun projects involving math and science such as bridge building. Online registration opened a while ago, and it was a big hit. “I’m very excited to see so much interest in the camp. The most kids I ever had at shoreland was 45, so to have 70 plus in the first year is outstanding,” said Mr. Willems, the man who started up the camp at Lakeside. Registration deadline is June 28 and cost is $50. As for any high schoolers who are interested, Mr. Willems needs at least 6 teens to help him out with the running of the camp. Email Mr. Willems for more details.

This was only given to two schools and this newspaper was one of them. Mrs. Jodie Schommer, the Student Publications overseer, was so proud of the staff for all of their hard work and to thank everyone she bought a cake for anyone who had helped with the newspaper. This great honor would not have been possible if it were not for the editors, especially Elizabeth Cichanofsky and Brett Burger, the editors-in-chief. Both of the put many hours
What’s Inside?
The team will fly to Houston on June 26th and stay until the 30th. While there the team will be running a vacation bible school. The team is selling cookbooks and they have had lots of help from Twice is Nice. They are also considering a having a cookout and selling the food. “It is a great opportunity to travel and share God’s word with others. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and see parts of the country you haven’t seen yet.” said Team leader Kali Madrid. With the end of the school year coming to a close everyone should remember to operate with Jesus so that they can share their faith by going and make disciples.

Growing

with God
“In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.” - Proverbs 16:9 staff reporter
Kaitlyn Gehler (Jr.)
I remember always having my parents asking me what I wanted to be when I grow up. Every time they asked, I said something new. Now that I’m in high school the question is asked less frequently. Still, every time they ask I say something new, and that scares me a bit. College is just around the corner, and I still have no clue what I want to be. Why do I worry over the future so much? Sometimes when I stress myself out about things that I have no control over, I need to take a step back and realize who really is in control. This verse gives me the comforting reassurance that God is with me, guiding me every step of the way, so that I can set all my worries aside and focus on my glorious future in heaven.
Supplement coming soon
This yearbook was given to students early so they can get their friends’ signatures. staff reporter

This year’s yearbook is coming out in two parts. The first part, the main book, includes all the fall and winter sports and activities. The second part, the supplement, will be handed out to returning students at registration and mailed to seniors. The supplement will have some double-sided tape on the back which will make it easy to just stick it into the main part of the book. The supplement will include the spring sports and activities.

The change was made so that students could have the opportunity to have their yearbooks signed by their friends and classmates before the end of the year. The change made it possible for the yearbook editors and staff to finish up most of the yearbook before the stressful week of exams. The theme for this year’s book was based on Ecclesiastes 3 ‘A Time for Anything’ passages. The book is divided by sports and events that happened in each month of the school year.
