US starts war with Mexico staff reporter

Caleb Strutz (Sr.)

In a shockingly fast decision, the Senate of the United States voted 73-20 in favor of declaring war on Mexico, followed by an overwhelming majority in the House of Representatives. The decision came just hours after President Donald Trump issued an executive order to invade our Southern neighbor through the Texas border. Details about why the president has invaded Mexico and how Congress agreed so quickly to declare war are unknown at the present time. Despite there not being a full session on both sides of Congress, the move to declare war came to the floor without much floor time for speakers and without much opposition. The government of Mexico has yet to make an official move, but is in the process of defending itself.

Say goodbye to chromebooks. The topic has been brought up about various learning techniques and how they help with students education. These days technology is taking over in areas of learning and is becoming more involved with schools. Even here at Lakeside, attendance is now being taken online. With these changes in technological use and availability, many schools across the country are funding iPads for students, and as of a recent board decision, Lakeside now included. Mr. Grasby had this to say about the matter, “Chrome-

Senior Luke Willems had this to say about the change after freshman year, “I remember it as clear as day, my backpack was the only thing that kept me from getting tardies. books are old news. The students are not taking to them, so we are going to do something about it.” Starting next year, students will be receiving their own iPads and turning in their chromebooks for good. While the idea is a little fuzzy right now, faculty members are becoming more open to the idea.

A new style of class Lakeside offers a new fashion course as of next year editor

Ashley McLain (Jr.)

Next year, Lakeside will be offering a brand new elective course for all of those people out there who enjoy being up-todate on the latest fashion trends. The course will be called Fashion I for all of those who want to take it. Then in the next upcoming years, Fashion II and Fashion III courses may be started for those who want to continue in this area of study. It will be taught by Mrs. Corlett as another Family and Consumer Science class. The course will discuss the history of fashion and how it has influenced different cultures,

why it is so different in various parts of the world, and how it has changed in America over the years. It also will go on to talk about

“Fashion I will be a great class for people who... want to learn more about the trends they follow...”

the future of fashion, how to get a career in the fashion industry, and what people are looking for in the next couple decades. For people who are unsure

about the academic advantage of this class, do not worry. It talks about topics from art classes, such as the color wheel and matching; topics from psychology classes, like how people perceive each other based on what they are wearing; and topics from math, including statistics, sales, and graphing trends. Fashion I will be a great class for people who already have great style and want to learn more about the trends they follow. It also will be a great class for those who are fashionably impaired and need a little extra help deciding what shoes go with what shirt.
