“Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one that believes Jesus is the Son of God.” - 1 John 5:5 staff reporter

If you have ever been in a traffic jam, you know how irritating and stressful it can be. The cars are lined up in all lanes, making the driver feel very anxious and claustrophobic. The boredom of just sitting there, and precious time ticking away that could have been spent doing something useful is frustrating. How about sitting in a traffic jam for eight hours straight? In Seattle on Monday, February 27th, a semi truck carrying propane flipped over on a southbound stretch of Interstate 5 around ten in the morning. Following the incident, authorities shut down traffic in both directions, trapping cars and trucks for hours. However, the Tacos El Tajin truck, also caught in traffic, came up with an idea. They opened their truck of food to drivers who were stuck in the traffic jam so they could have a bite to eat. Rachel Mcquade and her husband, a couple who were stuck in traffic, found out about El Tajin when they went to check out the accident. “I got out and was walking around, and I see this lady walking back to her car with a to-go box,” Rachel told The Seattle Times. “What do you do in a time like that? You got to make the best of it, right?” She then bought two chicken and two steak tacos for herself and her husband. El Tajin not only helped the Mcquades, but many other drivers as well. On Twitter, fellow food trucks and even a local radio station commended El Tajin. Since the traffic did not clear up until 6 pm, El Tajin missed their lunch stop in the South Lake Union area. However, Mr. Thomas Lopez, El Tajin’s owner, says that they are ready to serve food anywhere.

Strength. To have strength is to have power. When you think of someone overcoming the world, you probably think of strength being needed. That may not be physical strength, but real strength is having strength in the mind. This may be true in an earthly, temporary sense, but the one true strength or power is in the heart. For the only power one has in himself is in his faith to God. The only strength one can show is how one lives his life. money for tuition assistance, and also for purposes such raising money for things at school. This is the sixth year this event has taken place, and this year it is called “Shine Like Stars.”
At the Grand Event, a few different things take place to raise money. First, there is a silent auction for the first hour and a half. People donate items and then those donated items are auctioned off. The variety of auctioned items include: autographed artwork, tools, gift baskets, quilts, and much more. Next, there is the dinner with entertainment, which is follwed by a live auction. This is where the bigger and more valuable things are auctioned off. People bid on things such as dinner cruises, tuition assistance, a bus, and different needs around the school. Overall, the Grand Event has been very successful these past few years, and has been a great way for Lakeside to raise money.
