Ingvild Wik has travled miles to go to school here in the United States.

Ingvild Wik. Some might be good friends with her. Others might have just heard that she is a transfer student from Norway, and a few students might not know her at all. Well, for those who do not know Ingvild, this will be their lucky day, because this is an article that will make one feel as if he or she has known Ingvild all along. If one already knows her, there is still interesting things to learn too, like what goat cheese tastes like. Ingvild is this year’s transfer student. She was born and raised in Norway. She has two parents, and two brothers, Ola, the older brother, and Halvor, her younger brother. She attended Norwegian schools before she transferred to Lakeside. These schools have a different way of doing things compared to Lakeside: rotating subjects into 5 class periods throughout the day. Not every subject would be taught in a day. Not only that, but every student has their own laptop to take notes on, and there are no school athletic teams. In Norway, Ingvild enjoys snowboarding,

skiing, swimming, playing soccer, and hanging out with friends. Some of her favorite Norwegian foods are brown cheese, or goat cheese, caviar, and lefse. Norway is about four thousand miles away from Wisconsin, though, and food four thousand miles away from Norway might seem a little bit different.

To Ingvild, the thing that made the biggest impression was the size of things here in America, mainly when it comes to food.

Just the sheer amount of it, the variety, and the serving size as compared to what it is in Norway. The food is also one of the things that she loves most about America. With her favorite food being a Culver's Cheese Butter Burger, Ingvild is a true Wisconsinite. Ingvild does miss Norway, her friends, and her family. She is not homesick though. A lot of it is has to do with the people, all the friends that she has already made. Ingvild would just like to say, "The people here at lakeside are amazing."

A student survey reveals feelings towards sins Sydney Gronemeyer Brandon Swenson

As Christians, most students of Lakeside would agree that all sins are the same in God’s eyes. With this being true, do people really treat sins the same? Bullying, harassment, and unfair discretion all stem from certain sins being weighed and judged differently. One of the rising issues of today’s society is the disagreement on the topic of homosexuality. A recent survey at Lakeside showed that the majority of people ranked homosexuality as a five but also voted more ones to homosexuality than any other sin. This clearly shows that the majority of people are either perfectly fine with it, or very against it. Not many people are neutral about the subject. If homosexuality is simply lust for the same gender, what makes it any worse than any other kind of lust? In contrast to homosexuality, the majority of students rated lust as a three or four. In reality, which sin is more of a problem in today’s world?

“Heterosexual lust is much more of a problem than homosexual lust because it is acted upon much more in the world today,” says junior, Adam Poyner.

Votes for the worst sin

Votes for the lesser sin

Lust Malice 46 votes 45 votes Cheating 39 votes

Homosexuality

Lying 75 votes 46 votes

The fact that people are so harsh about this subject could lead to bullying not only homosexuals, but also anyone who supports it. Students of Lakeside surely do not rate every sin the same. Sins like lying and cheating are considered much less offensive than homosexuality or lust to them. Although people may treat sins so differently, in the end, God sees them all as equal.

“Everything is forgivable in God’s eyes,” said Winter Petry. This is all that is truly important.

Students were asked to rate sins on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the worst and 1 being the least worst sin.

Matthew 10:16 “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.” When someone comes up to you and starts hating on you for being Christian do you have to sit there and just take it? We have to know how to interact with different people. Some people are looking for a Christian to stand up and fight back to a bully. People these days look at Christians as weak humans. We need to make sure we show them they are wrong, but do it without hurting anyone and not making yourself look bad. Be innocent, being Christian does not mean being a pushover. We need to show love, but be crafty like a serpent we also need to know that some humans need tough love. Love will not always agree with you. we like “yes men” but being a “real man” is what you need! Love will tell you when you are wrong, and then help fix it. Love forgives. Do not listen to what this world is showing you, because this world does not know love!
