Every time there are new textbooks, every new smartboard, projector, or even a regular whiteboard, money exchanges hands. Someone must be behind all that cash that is used to purchase everything that goes in and out of Lakeside Lutheran High School. There is one man, but he does so much more than deal with finances. James Garrison has replaced Sharon Yanngen, who recently retired, as Lakeside’s new financial director. He does everything from planning salaries to coaching soccer. The Warrior Times sat down with Mr. Garrison to find out more about where he came from and who he is. “I attended Luther Prep High School and graduated from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Here at Lakeside I am the Director of Finance.” Before coming to Lakeside Garrison worked at Jones’ Dairy Farm. When asked what is most different about working at Lakeside he replied, “People here

get along well and everyone is going in the same direction.” Mr. Garrison has visited 13 different states, two different countries and has worked as an adventure guide. His twin brother has visited 16 different countries. “I have a dog named Roman, I’ll eat pretty much anything and my favorite sport is definitely soccer,” said Mr. Garrison.

People here get along well and everyone is going in the same direction.”

When asked if he had any last words for the students here at Lakeside he commented, “I’m approachable. I used to work at the YMCA and even as an adventure guide for students all over the world.” Everyone at Lakeside is encouraged to intoduce themselves if they see Mr. Garrison.

with God

1 Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”

Many people are told that they are too young to do something? Maybe when it is something they feel they are old enough to do it can be disappointing or frustrating. Sometimes people are put down because they are too young. People do not think that they are either physically or mentally able to do something. In 1 Timothy 4:12 we are told “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” Just because someone is young does not mean that they cannot make a difference. Youth is a gift from God. If people say that someone cannot do it, most likely that person is worried that you will do it. Youth is a gift from God. Enjoy it.

This month of September has become what some like to call, “Recruitment Month.” This is the time of year when Mr. Steve Lauber takes Lakeside Students out to all of the Lutheran schools in the federation and, simply put, recruits students to come to Lakeside. Ever since Mr. Lauber took over as Recruitment Director last year things have changed just a bit. This year a number of Lakeside students are taking their talents on the road to share with the grade schoolers as Lauber tells the grade schoolers about Lakeside. Becca Doering will be dancing while Andrew Natvig will be jamming out to various tunes on the piano. Courtney Dorn and Derek Gulrud will be playing guitar and singing. Many other members contribute through skits and other means. This year is sure to be a successful one.
