A Message from the Development Director

~ 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ~ Somewhere between Halloween and Christmas is a Thursday holiday that is slowly becoming more miniscule in the minds of millions of Americans: Thanksgiving. If you search hard enough, you just might find one small section of Thanksgiving cards, autumn decorations or a turkey platter amid aisles of Christmas decorations and toys.

For Christians, Thanksgiving Day is still a special day. It’s a day to share with family and friends, to visit the Lord’s house as beautiful fall colors drape the altar, and of course, to enjoy the abundance of food. However, more importantly, Thanksgiving Day serves as a reminder to all of the blessings we have received, not just on a specific day of the year, but every day. So how is it possible that this Thursday holiday is losing the attention of so many Americans? Perhaps it is influenced by retailers, busy schedules or simply lack of interest. For whatever reason, let this day serve us as it did the early Christians, who were reminded in David’s Psalms of Thanksgiving and in the teachings of Paul: always pray and give thanks to God in all circumstances.

This Thanksgiving Day and every day, we at Lakeside Lutheran High School are grateful for the many blessings the Lord has lavished upon us through individuals like you.

May the Lord bless you richly this Holiday Season.

“The excitement and fun of Homecoming week, like every other good thing in life, is a gift from God, and it was great to see everyone diving into the festivities. Not only does such a celebration glorify God and give Lakeside a good reputation elsewhere, it also makes it a school of which every student can be proud.�

Fellowship

Members of the Chi Fellowship, through the fruits of the Holy Spirit, have provided a single gift of less than$1,000 during the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. With the Greek letter Chi so evident in our churches and schools, your association with this fellowship is a reminder of God’s love, and every gift is significant to Lakeside.

Blessed are the Givers; Grateful are the Receivers The following note was received after the Lakeside Lutheran A Cappella Choir recently visited an area congregation. “[Enclosed is] a gift in appreciation of all the efforts put forth

by Mr. Buege. The choir gave us much joy and more importantly strengthened our faith. The voices of young adults praising their Savior is a truly uplifting experience. Mr. Buege’s selfless dedication was greatly appreciated and we wanted to give something back in return.

May the Lord bless Lakeside in the new school year.�

We are so thankful for the generosity of our donors! What is more pleasing than sharing your faith, values and finances to encourage godly living? May His repeated blessings be yours for the special way you express his love.

The major focus of A Cappella is music ministry, reinforcing the spiritual message of the Lakeside school theme through the sacred music sung in our federated congregations. Its goal is to encourage students to view their singing as a joyful response to the wonderful blessings God brings into their lives, being born by the Creator Father, bought by the blood of Jesus, blessed with faith by the Holy Spirit, and ultimately bound for heaven as a result of their faith.

Rho

Fellowship

Members of the Rho Fellowship, with the Lord’s guidance, have provided multiple gifts totaling less than $1,000 within the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. The Greek letters Rho and Chi form the symbol for Christ. This symbol, displayed in the center of our school seal, serves as a reminder that Christ is the center of our faith at Lakeside. Through this faith we return our blessings to continue His work.

As a thank you for your gifts we offer you membership in the Rho Fellowship, a subscription to The Legacy, and also invite you to attend the fellowship events that have been planned for you.

God Bless Lakeside & its Families It is God that shapes us. This is a lifelong process. As one of the many tools, Lakeside Lutheran seeks to work together with parents and students in building a strong Christian foundation.

Recent comments from a Lakeside family: “I wanted to express my thanks for the opportunity to attend freshmen parent night.

Honestly, I didn’t know if I was going to attend or not at first. My husband and I both have long-time connections to Lakeside... so I really thought probably not that much has changed. Anyway, I decided to go as I only know one of my child’s teachers.

“I was so impressed by the quality of teachers that my child has this year. It’s not that I’m surprised, just overwhelmed by the dedication all of the teachers have to the students, to LLHS, and to their Savior.

“Our Savior has blessed my family abundantly in our short lives. Lakeside has been a blessing to us as a family. As a parent we have prayed over many parenting decisions. Honestly, I don’t know if we ever prayed about deciding to send our child to Lakeside. It was always known that he would attend. Now, I pray with such a thankful heart that my child has the opportunity to be surrounded and instructed by all of you. I am so thankful that he is being led by Christian teachers who are guiding him as he continues on his life journey with his Savior by his side.”

Fellowship

The Greek word, Kentro, meaning center, leads us to reflect on Christ as the center of our lives. Through Him we receive these blessings, and are encouraged to offer them up to His glory.
