A Message from the Development Team As we close out yet another year where seniors go off in many different directions, it is comforting to all of us, taught through the work of the Holy Spirit and messages of God’s Word, to recognize the voice of Jesus.

My sheep hear my voice. I know them and they follow me.

– John 10:27

Enjoy this condensed version of a devotion shared by << Mr. Dan Kuehl with the students this past year: Whom do you listen to? Thinking about that question, there are several different answers…teachers, parents, friends...but it goes well beyond that, doesn’t it? We live in a world with hundreds of distracting voices—many have their own agendas. Whether it is regular or social media, the voices in our phones and all our other electronic devices…the list goes on.

How do we know whom to listen to and whom to ignore? If we focus on the words from Jesus, our Good Shepherd, the answer is clear. Easy, right?

The one voice that is constant, true, and always reassuring is the voice of Jesus. What makes his voice so reassuring is that his message does not change.

Anyone who listens to him knows that he is our Savior from sin and that he has taken away that sin so we can someday be with him in heaven.

Sometimes, however, the other voices we hear sound pretty enticing.

Some voices try to imitate Jesus and make it sound like the message is from him--the false teachers that have been around for thousands of years are still out there today. There are voices that play to our sinful desires and make things that go against God’s word just sound good. Those messages bombard us every day of our lives and they come from everywhere.

That’s why, when Jesus calls us his sheep in v. 27, it should be an uplifting and comforting image for us. We know enough about sheep to know that they are easily led off course and can easily lose their way. But Jesus’ disciples (that’s us) know his voice, his message, which brings us back to him.

When we hear voices call out to us with claims and invitations which sound pretty appealing, compare them to what we have learned. Don’t listen to the wrong voice. Listen to and trust in the one who loves us and only wants what’s best for us. Listen only to Jesus.

Rho and Kentro members enjoyed a light dinner and admission to the Friday, April 26 showing of this year’s audience-interactive murder mystery-comedy, Murder in the House of Horrors.

Downright spooky cafeteria decorations were organized by senior Sadie Matthews (Eastside, Madison) and senior mom Megan Wood.

GPD Spring 2019

We were happy to host 122 Warrior grandparents of sophomores and seniors this spring. What a priceless opportunity to spend time with loved ones while also getting a firsthand glimpse of our mission: “Motivated by the love of Jesus, Lakeside Lutheran High School partners with families to educate, encourage, and equip students for life and eternity.” Thanks for joining us!

Fellowship

The Impact of Christian Education Seth Hackbarth Lakeside has had a big impact on me these last four years. I have been encouraged athletically and academically.

I like that Lakeside teachers expect a lot out of their students as well as their players.

In the academic field they push us to our limits. The teachers help us with our future and they want us to succeed. They also push us in our athletic abilities. They know what we are capable of and teach us to work hard.

But, the best part of Lakeside is the Christian education we are offered. We get to have a devotion daily to strengthen our faith. We are reminded how blessed we are every day with the gifts God has given us—giving us a reason to work hard.

Seth, son of Todd and Donna, is a member of St. Paul in Lake Mills. He received his diploma May 26 along with 109 others in the LLHS Class of 2019.

In doing so, he was the last in his immediate family to join the ranks of his Forever Warrior siblings, including Hannah (‘11, MLC ‘15), Sarah (Hackbarth ‘13) Schroeder (MLC ‘17), Moriah (‘15) and Abigail (‘17). Seth plans to pursue pastoral studies at Martin Luther College this fall.

Rho

Fellowship

Members of the Rho Fellowship, with the Lord’s guidance, have provided multiple gifts totaling less than $1,000 within the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. The Greek letters Rho and Chi form the symbol for Christ. This symbol, displayed in the center of our school seal, serves as a reminder that Christ is the center of our faith at Lakeside. Through this faith we return our blessings to continue His work.

Hannah Willems

Lakeside has given me the opportunity to express my love for Jesus by using the talents he has given me. Whether that be through song or athletics, Lakeside helped me learn many different things. I have been a three-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball and soccer, as well as a member of the band and A Cappella choir. The atmosphere is lively with so many activities and clubs to participate in that help students stay connected with friends and the Lakeside community.

Relationships built with teachers also make a big impact. One teacher and coach in particular for me was Mrs. Krauklis, my volleyball coach for two years. She always brings out the best in me whether I am on the court or in the classroom, encouraging and supporting and trying to get me to fulfill my potential.

I will certainly miss her a ton and definitely will keep in touch if I ever need advice.

Another is Mr. Vanderhoof. Although here only a year so far, he already has a huge heart for his students, always checking in to make sure everything is going well and if it’s not, he was there to listen or even get me on the right path. I am so thankful to have come to know these two teachers.

Lakeside has blessed my four years with amazing friendships and awesome memories that I will never forget. I’m fully equipped to move on to my next chapter in life at Martin Luther College and share my love for Jesus through teaching. Thank you so much, Lakeside.

Hannah, daughter of Andrew and Heidi, is a member at Bethany, Fort Atkinson. In May, she joined the ranks of her Forever Warrior siblings, including Luke (‘17), Aaron (‘12) and Sara (‘11, MLC ‘16). Brother Noah is a Shoreland Lutheran grad (‘15). n.

Fellowship

The Greek word, Kentro, meaning center, leads us to reflect on Christ as the center of our lives. Through Him we receive these blessings and are encouraged to offer them up to His glory.

A grand way to support Christian education

Called to Serve LLHS Grand Event • April 13, 2019

Lakeside campus welcomed a sold-out crowd of 296 who answered the call to serve for the 8th annual Grand Event. We hosted family, friends, alum, and community members. Over 100 students and 50 adults volunteered hundreds of hours to make this fundraising event a tremendous blessing for Christian education. Students offered their talents in many areas, from welcome greeting and exit assistance, decorating to serving appetizers, dinner service and bussing, from piano playing to singing, or hosting auction displays and more!

Every year we look to improve and offer a variety of areas to participate—whether you are attending or not. The entertaining event and evening included silent, online and live auctions, dessert and “class basket” auctions; raffles, including 50/50, wine & beer, jewelry and new-this-year, a “Lake Geneva get-away for 20” and Mangiami Italiano’s “Chef’s Table for 6.” To coincide with our theme, we honored all military guests in attendance and hosted a special drawing for $50 Visa gift cards. We are so grateful for generous supporters, donors, and sponsors who helped us raise over $92K!

Proceeds Distribution:

• $25K to Student Tuition Assistance • $25K to Building (debt reduction) Fund • $25K to General Operating

• $3,400 to Operation Go mission trips • $12,700 to Band for new uniforms • $700 to Alumni Executive Committee
