A Message from the Development Team

LLHS Development Director

Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name..

– Psalm 86:11 As we have been reflecting on the past 60 years, it is easy to see that Lakeside Lutheran High School overflows with blessings. At first, Christian secondary education in Jefferson County was only an idea, but progressed with God’s grace in 1958 to officially open the doors to an area Lutheran high school. Short years later, the Lord blessed us with another challenge, to relocate and build a new building, our present building, in Lake Mills. On February 17, 1985, and again on September 21, 2003, the Lord continued to shower His blessings with building expansions for a growing student body.

Each time there has been a challenge, our God was there with the blessing to carry out the Savior’s command to “Feed my Lambs.” And each time there was a challenge, individuals like yourself were held up by the conviction of faith that even when things might seem difficult, all things do work for the good of those who love Him. Although many of us did not have the chance to be part of the school in her early years, we can look back on our past and see that because of God’s continued blessings, we can be part of the Lakeside family today.

Did you know that every Giving Tuesday donation went directly to our Student Assistance Fund?

As part of #GivingTuesday on November 27, 2018, we invited donors to help us help future in-need families make Christian education possible. Our #bethe60 goal was for 10% participation by six groups (alum, board members, faculty/staff, families, friends/community, and students) to represent the 60 years, past and present, of Lakeside.

Faces just like these are so grateful for supporters just like you who helped make Christian education a treasured reality for so many far into the next 60 years of our history!

Members of the Chi Fellowship, through the fruits of the Holy Spirit, have provided a single gift of less than $1,000 during the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. Nate Sievert What a blessing and gift I have been given–sharing God’s grace with kids for 23 years. My journey has taken me from northern Wisconsin, to southern California, to southwestern Michigan, and back to Wisconsin. Through it all, my Savior has been ever-present. It is amazing how he has used a less-than-nothing person to share his grace with 100’s of children and families.

Take a step back for a moment and look at the influences of your life. Most of us can trace a path back to years in high school.

For some of us they were more memorable than others, but—for a group of us whose parents saw the importance of Christ daily being in our lives—my how our lives have been affected by the brief years in a Lutheran high school. Would I be where I am at today if not for my high school Christian education? Only our Lord knows . . . “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.”

Thanks be to him for the path he put me on through a Lutheran high school.

My college-age children also say, “Thank you for sending me to a Lutheran high school.”

As the world attempts to pull our youth further from the truth, I am thankful for Lakeside Lutheran and the preparation provided to our teens. What a humble privilege I have been given to play a small role of teaching and coaching tomorrow’s Christian leaders.

Nate and Amy Sievert have three children. The two oldest are attending Western Michigan and Michigan State Universities. The youngest will be a freshman Warrior next fall. Nate accepted the call to teach and coach at LLHS this school year, and the family attends St. John Lutheran in Watertown, where Amy teaches.

It is my prayer that we as “leaders” of Lakeside are influencing the teens here today, and encouraging their future kids attend this school where it’s all about the cross.

Rho

Fellowship

Members of the Rho Fellowship, with the Lord’s guidance, have provided multiple gifts totaling less than $1,000 within the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. The Greek letters Rho and Chi form the symbol for Christ. This symbol, displayed in the center of our school seal, serves as a reminder that Christ is the center of our faith at Lakeside. Through this faith we return our blessings to continue His work.

As a thank you for your gifts we offer you membership in the Rho Fellowship, a subscription to The Legacy, and also invite you to attend the fellowship events that have been planned for you.

Jessica Meyer When I think of Lakeside there are many things that come to mind. Christ-centered, wonderful, amazing, grounded, faithful, generous, loving, excelling, opportunistic... the list could go on. As a parent of a Lakeside alum and a current student, my husband and I have seen first-hand the blessings of Lakeside. God’s Word taught every day, Christian friends who share the same faith, loving and faithful teachers who, with God’s help, guide these students during vital teenage years. The price tag on this eternal investment for our children is priceless.

I was excited to become a different part of Lakeside when I was hired in July in the development office. What I saw in Lakeside as a parent has become more apparent to me as a staff member. Everyone loves Jesus! What an amazing opportunity to work with fellow Christians, spend time in the Word with co-workers and pray with them. The chapel services and daily devotions over the loudspeaker have been a favorite part of my job at Lakeside. We are so blessed here.

My job as Alumni Relations and Event Coordinator will be a great way to stay in touch with those “Forever Warriors” who hold Lakeside so dear to their hearts. Through events I hope to let our light shine and encourage Forever Warriors and Lakeside supporters to keep Christian education in mind for their kids and grandchildren.

Kentro

Fellowship

Members of the Kentro Fellowship have offered a gift or returned a commitment card to Lakeside Lutheran High School of $1,000 or more for the year. The Greek word, Kentro, meaning center, leads us to reflect on Christ as the center of our lives. Through Him we receive these blessings and are encouraged to offer them up to His glory.

The annual Appreciation Tent for Giving Society, Twice is Nice volunteers and called workers hit on a lovely Friday night that was a great get-together. Warrior Football went 11-1 this fall!

We had a blast hosting another Alum Zone for Homecoming September 28 — thanks to the alum families who joined us in the gym and then some at Tyranena post-game! Are you a member of our Forever Warrior Facebook group yet? Search for “LLHSForeverWarriors”

Our annual Veterans Day event on November 7 featured a message from Rep. John Jagler (WI-37), Almost 70 vets from several branches came, representing more than half a century of military service, from WW II to Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
