This well-known Bible passage in the King James version was translated back in 686 B.C., but these words still have a clear message for us today as Lakeside continues to provide the essentials for students to nurture minds and souls through a curriculum that focuses on God’s Word.

Redeemed by the blood of Christ, we daily put on God’s armor, standing firm against the deceitful schemes of the devil and await the ultimate prize, eternal life in heaven. At Lakeside Lutheran High School, our heritage and our future lies in providing our students with that armor.

Rho & Kentro members were treated to 50s diner fare & admission to Friday’s showing of this year’s stage comedy musical, The Nifty Fifties. Making a special guest appearance was Pastor Brian Schmidt in full Elvis regalia!

Lakeside Lutheran High School has shared a blessed heritage for 60 years and is unique in that we do not receive financial assistance from our Synod but rather supported by individuals—like yourself. In staying true to our commitment to faithfully managing the resources entrusted to this ministry, it is possible to carry out our mission, nurturing young adults with the necessary resources to live lives of Christian service in their homes, church, and society.

As the word of God continues to be taught here at Lakeside, we are confident that God will continue to bless this ministry, faith will grow, and God will be glorified.

Fellowship

Kelsey Birschbach

Members of the Chi Fellowship, through the fruits of the Holy Spirit, have provided a single gift of less than$1,000 during the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. With the Greek letter Chi so evident in our churches and schools, your association with this fellowship is a reminder of God’s love, and every gift is significant to Lakeside.

However, Lakeside has such a great environment. The teachers are so friendly and easy to talk to. Lakeside also offered so many great opportunities. It gives teens a way to meet new people and to serve the Lord. Sports have been an amazing way for me to meet new friends. It’s not just sports either; there are also activities, such as Teens for Christ and National Honor Society, to serve the community and always to glorify God. Throughout my last four years, it was hard for me to decide what I wanted to do after high school. Yet, the teachers were very encouraging and saw gifts and talents I had with young children. So I have decided to go to Martin Luther College to be an Early Childhood teacher.

These past four years at Lakeside have gone by so fast. I remember my first day like it was yesterday—my little freshman self, trying to open my locker. I was so scared that I would get lost.

Left: Kelsey, along with Cade Olszewski of Immanuel, Farmington, was awarded the Warrior Athlete award at the May 2018 Academic Awards Night, for her gifts, leadership and participation in the athletic program during her years at LLHS. She participated in volleyball, basketball and softball all four years, including her role as a senior leader on the 2017 WIAA D2 state champion Warrior volleyball team. Fellowship

Joseph Grambsch

Members of the Rho Fellowship, with the Lord’s guidance, have provided multiple gifts totaling less than $1,000 within the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. The Greek letters Rho and Chi form the symbol for Christ. This symbol, displayed in the center of our school seal, serves as a reminder that Christ is the center of our faith at Lakeside. Through this faith we return our blessings to continue His work.

I don’t even know where to begin when talking about all the positives to Lakeside. I attended all four years, and every year I was able to see more and more benefits.

As a thank you for your gifts we offer you membership in the Rho Fellowship, a subscription to The Legacy, and also invite you to attend the fellowship events that have been planned for you.

Faculty make a real difference. (Social Studies teacher) Mr. Matt Doering is one who I can say really influenced me over my four years at Lakeside. He was my homeroom teacher, which gave me opportunity to talk to him even more.

Whenever I had questions about anything, I could go to him. I could talk to him about anything when it comes to the ministry and how it works. I can really say he was one of the big factors in me deciding to go into ministry.

The first and most important benefit is that every day we heard the Word of God, in class and in chapel, whether as an assembly or over the intercom.

The number of opportunities students have at Lakeside is also another huge benefit of going to Lakeside. One group I am a part of at Lakeside is band. Warrior Band has been one of those things that has stayed a constant in my life, and I look forward to praising God more with those talents as I move ahead in my life. After Lakeside I am attending Martin Luther College for Elementary Education with the ultimate goal of becoming a principal in one of our Lutheran elementary schools.

Joe, son of Chad and Rachel,will continue a tradition of ministry in his family, as both Mom and Dad are Lutheran elementary school teachers where the family are members at Zion, Columbus. Joseph has three younger siblings at LLHS and Zion.

Left: Joe has been a leader in the trumpet section of the band for years, whether in concert or on the march. His efforts were recognized as he won the Woody Herman Jazz Award® and Outstanding Musician Award for the past two years, presented on Academic Awards Night (center). At right, in his second year in A Cappella Choir, he was joined this year by “little” brother Ben in the bass section as the choir traveled to 20 area churches to lead in song worship.

Back to School...

Fellowship

Members of the Kentro Fellowship have offered a gift or returned a commitment card to Lakeside Lutheran High School of $1,000 or more for the year. The Greek word, Kentro, meaning center, leads us to reflect on Christ as the center of our lives. Through Him we receive these blessings and are encouraged to offer them up to His glory.

LLHS Grand Event • April 7, 2018 The 7th annual Lakeside Grand Event was held on campus for a sold-out crowd of 285.

Almost 100 LLHS students gave over 325 hours to join with dozens of adult volunteers in making this year’s “Back to School” event

another resounding success. The students took on a wide variety of jobs, from decorating to serving appetizers, dinner service and bussing, from piano playing to hosting auction displays, including one for the renewal of the school greenhouse (above) and one for Operation Go mission trips (left).

Through an entertaining evening that included silent and live auctions, dessert and “class basket” auctions, 50/50, wine and jewelry raffles, generous donors and sponsors raised over $80K!

Guests had special fun with a new feature that raised over $500 by “sending a friend to detention.”

Seniors served as “viceprincipals” to escort detainees for a few minutes in “the office.”
