This mixture of feel-good words seems so obvious—especially at this time of year! These phrases are seen at Thanksgiving and can easily flow right into the Christmas season; many may even adorn the walls of our homes. Sometimes, however, they are easier said than done.

We know that Christmas is an invitation to delight in the greatest gift of our Savior and let the wonder and glory of His love shine in our hearts. May this serve as a gentle reminder to all that this spirit should be demonstrated the whole year through by our thanks-living!

This event is held in the fall and invited guests include: Rho & Kentro members, Twice is Nice and other school volunteers, Lakeside general board and pastors.

Although our treat is rather small (hotdog, chips, cookie, beverage and game admission), our heartfelt thanks is quite big!

Fellowship

Kirk DeNoyer

Members of the Chi Fellowship, through the fruits of the Holy Spirit, have provided a single gift of less than $1,000 during the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. With the Greek letter Chi so evident in our churches and schools, your association with this fellowship is a reminder of God’s love, and every gift is significant to Lakeside.

This is my 25th year in the ministry and my first at Lakeside Lutheran. I came from a great school and to another great one here at Lakeside. In just a few months, I have learned to love this ministry. The staff, students and families at Lakeside have all been a pleasure to work with.

This is a special school for many reasons but the most important is the Christ-centered focus of every class, program and event.

Lakeside is a place where students will learn to love their Savior more every day and put their full trust in him as they hear God’s word in their classes, worship him in chapel, and see his love modeled in the hallways.

Kirk accepted the call last spring to serve as Lakeside’s Activities Director and freshman Physical Education teacher. He and Karen have four children, three in college and the youngest, Austin, a senior at Lakeside. They are members at St. Paul in Lake Mills.

Members of the Rho Fellowship, with the Lord’s guidance, have provided multiple gifts totaling less than $1,000 within the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. The Greek letters Rho and Chi form the symbol for Christ. This symbol, displayed in the center of our school seal, serves as a reminder that Christ is the center of our faith at Lakeside. Through this faith we return our blessings to continue His work.

As a thank you for your gifts we offer you membership in the Rho Fellowship, a subscription to The Legacy, and also invite you to attend the fellowship events that have been planned for you.

Our students have the ability to participate in extracurricular activities with Christ as their guide through Christian leaders and coaches.

I am routinely impressed with how many students participate, the faith they show in their efforts, and the quality of their work.

The opportunity for daily worship and taking classes from Christian teachers is an irreplaceable gift. I had the blessing of being able to attend Lutheran schools throughout my elementary and high school years and can attest to the inspiration possible in and out of the classroom. It was a Lutheran high school teacher that inspired me to serve the Lord through teaching.

Whether it be kneeling in prayer before an athletic competition or taking on the challenges of an increasingly paperless world from a Christian perspective, Lakeside reinforces these values upon its students on a daily basis – an opportunity for which I am thankful.

Mr. Ausen accepted a one-year call this past summer to serve as the Lakeside Lutheran Technology Director and teach computer classes.

He and his wife Katie are members at St. John, Milwaukee.

In my role as teacher, technology director, and coach at Lakeside, I see God’s workmanship from the front row in a variety of contexts. I have the joy of teaching future church leaders effective ways to use technology to God’s glory in their professional and personal lives.

Fellowship

Members of the Kentro Fellowship have offered a gift, or returned a commitment card, to Lakeside Lutheran High School of $1,000 or more for the year. The Greek word, Kentro, meaning center, leads us to reflect on Christ as the center of our lives. Through Him we receive these blessings, and are encouraged to offer them up to His glory.

G P D FALL 2015

We hosted over 100 guests in October at our Fall Grandparents Day (GPD) for freshmen and juniors.

We welcome both first-timers and veterans of GPD, treating all to breakfast, student entertainment and door prizes! When the bell tolls, it’s time for a class, then Chapel with the students, another class, and then school’s out for the grands! Tours of the school or Twice is Nice Resale in Jefferson are available afterward. Just like students from a 40-mi radius, our grandparents come from near and far (37 cities/4 states) to get a glimpse of a treasured Christ-centered education. The Development Office is honored to host this family-centered tradition. ...a sincere thank you for hosting Grandparents Day at Lakeside this fall. We always enjoy attending and this year was no exception. It is always a well planned event—from the delicious breakfast, to the inspiring chapel, to “sitting in” on a class or two. We feel fortunate that our grandson has the opportunity to attend a Lutheran High School.
