A Message from your Development Director

2013 WELS National Choral Festival

A

s we have been taught through scripture, giving of our treasures must come from the heart, not for personal gain, but simply given in appreciation for what our Savior endured on the cross so that we may share eternal life with Him in heaven. It is truly a joy to see the Lord encouraging individuals to grow in their Christian giving through the Lakeside Giving Society. Gifts given over the past year have truly been a blessing: over $36,000.00 for student assistance, $36,300.00 for General Operations of the school and, $133,300.00 for Building Mortgage Debt Reduction (see p. 11). It is a joy for us on staff to see firsthand what these blessings mean to our students; we hope some of those blessings shine out for you in the pages of the Legacy.

November 8-10, 2013: Your Lakeside Lutheran hosted over 500 student musicians and directors from 21 of our area Lutheran high schools across nine states. The festival featured both a Pops and Sacred concert.

hough we will never be able to say thank you often enough for what our Giving Society members provide, we have prepared a few special events again this year to thank you for your continued support. We always enjoy time spent with all of you and look forward to seeing you again this year. Fellowship

Members of the Chi Fellowship, through the fruits of the Holy Spirit, have provided a single gift of less than$1,000 during the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. With the Greek letter Chi so evident in our churches and schools, your association with this fellowship is a reminder of God’s love, and every gift is significant to Lakeside.

Being called to Lakeside to teach and reach students in the area of Career and Technical Education has been a true blessing to me from the start. I personally never had the opportunity to attend any of our Lutheran Elementary or High Schools. I grew up as a Warrior at Black Hawk High School, in South Wayne, WI. My connections to Lakeside include three cousins who are alumni, along with working with several staff at Camp Phillip who were Lakeside alumni.

With a past in teaching in public school, I can’t say enough about my daughters having a firm foundation fostered through their daily study at a Christian day school. They live their faith for the majority of the day while learning, and my wife and I get to continue those teachings in the home. Our eldest daughter just started her freshmen year at Lakeside. She has loved the opportunity to meet new friends, to challenge herself academically, and get active in extracurriculars.

I thank God that I may serve the students, staff and parents of the federation.

Mr. Meske’s first semester course load included Construction, Shop Maintenance and multiple sections of Woods II and Welding. He has also taken on supervision of Homecoming float building, assists in coaching your Warrior wrestling teams, and is the advisor for our FFA program (he chaperoned 11 students to the National Convention in Louisville at the end of October).

Mr. Meske and his Shop Maintenance seniors go over the features of a powerful new plasma cutter recently donated. This Miller Spectrum 625 X-Treme, valued at $1,600, will allow students to cut precisely up to 5/8” steel. We are so grateful for our generous supporters!

Rho

Fellowship

Members of the Rho Fellowship, with the Lord’s guidance, have provided multiple gifts totaling less than $1,000 within the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. The Greek letters Rho and Chi form the symbol for Christ. This symbol, displayed in the center of our school seal, serves as a reminder that Christ is the center of our faith at Lakeside. Through this faith we return our blessings to continue His work.

Nathan Koerber What a blessing it is to teach in a school where the main focus is God. Even though I have only been here for a few short months, I really enjoy how much support I have received from the faculty and staff.

I know this abundance of support stems from the hearts of people who know they have a Savior who died to take away sin. I can see this in the lives of the students as well.

Lakeside is a place where faculty, staff, and students all support each other. Lakeside is a school where families can be confident that every student matters and receives the support he or she needs not only to succeed, but to thrive, in this world and, more importantly, for eternity.

May God continue to bless Lakeside with people willing to serve their Lord in many capacities.

Mr. Koerber teaches 3 of the 4 levels of Spanish offered at your Lakeside Lutheran High School. He is also serving as assistant coach for boys JV soccer & varsity baseball.

Mr. Koerber is quickly making a name for himself as an enthusiastic personality who is ready to help a good cause.

Last fall, when LLHS was asking for student participation in an online fundraiser that required website “voting,” Mr. Koerber led the students in a fun pep rally-type cheer to stir excitement.

Your Lakeside Lutheran received almost $1,000 from Target Corporation as a result of his and others’ efforts!
