As another year comes to an end, the Development Office at Lakeside Lutheran High School would like to send you our warmest Christmas wishes! As we enter the season of celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I hope this edition of the “Legacy” finds you well. Our prayers are with you and your family, and we would like you to know how appreciative we are of the many blessings you have shared with your Lakeside.

What a wonderful blessing to have a school like Lakeside to teach and preach the real Christ of Christmas! While so many in the world move further from the truth, we as Christians know that the Christmas Season is truly the time we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

May the Lord continue to richly bless you this Christmas season and in the New Year.

Fellowship

Members of the Chi Fellowship, through the fruits of the Holy Spirit, have provided a single gift of less than$1,000 during the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. With the Greek letter Chi so evident in our churches and schools, your association with this fellowship is a reminder of God’s love, and every gift is significant to Lakeside.

As a 2000 Lakeside graduate and recent addition to the faculty, Lakeside has truly been a blessing in my life.

Not only did Lakeside prepare me for this life, it prepared me for eternity through daily study of God’s Word.

Mr. Pufahl is a 2005 grad of the Secondary Teachers Education Program (STEP) at MLC with a double major in elementary and secondary education (music). He directs all Lakeside bands and teaches Language Arts.

He and wife Kaitlyn live in Waterloo.

Fellowship

Sara Staude

Members of the Rho Fellowship, with the Lord’s guidance, have provided multiple gifts totaling less than $1,000 within the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. The Greek letters Rho and Chi form the symbol for Christ. This symbol, displayed in the center of our school seal, serves as a reminder that Christ is the center of our faith at Lakeside. Through this faith we return our blessings to continue His work.

As a thank you for your gifts, we offer you membership in the Rho Fellowship, a subscription to The Legacy, and invite you to attend the fellowship events that have been planned for you.

An English teacher once told me that clichés are overused phrases, with no meaning.

However, since my childhood the one cliché that has kept its meaning for me is the “one thing needful.” Growing up on a farm led me to believe the needful thing was sunshine and water to provide for our crops.

Farming could be a “feast or famine” business, but no matter what– my parents made sure I received the one thing needful: the Word, through a Christian education.

In my teenage years, I thought the one thing needful was pizza and feeling groovy. My family’s one thing needful: more time in the Word with a Lutheran high school education. My parents were right again.

I even met my husband Wayne Kuhl (‘70) at Lakeside. Our marriage blessed us with three daughters, and that same cliché echoed through my mind—one thing needful—as my own family experienced the loss of my spouse to cancer, my single mom syndrome and the challenge of raising three very young children.

God continued to provide what I needed. My daughters had the opportunity to receive the one thing needful at Lakeside: Jody (‘94), Kelly (’98) and Kari (’02). My grandchildren will also have the same opportunity at Lakeside with the helpful aid of scrip. And I still have it too! Working is a blessing with Jesus’ presence here at Lakeside.

There are some clichés that simply never lose their meaning, no matter how often they’re used. With God’s blessing, “when all is said and done,”Lakeside is “worth its weight in gold.”

Sara (nee Gentz) Staude is a member of the Lakeside Lutheran class of 1970.

Hers is the gentle, helpful voice you’ll hear when you call the Lakeside business office during most days.

Donations designated for Foundation for Faith, Life and Forever directly decrease the debt principal for our building mortgage, which in turn allows us to put more of our budget more quickly into programs and resources that directly enhance our students’ experiences, abilities and accomplishments. Giving Society Events
