Lakeside Lutheran stands out as a school established and called by God to lead an ever-growing number of students throughout Jefferson and surrounding counties to know and love Him, to equip them with a Christian worldview and a strong academic foundation, and to encourage them to discover and develop their God-given gifts for lifelong Christian leadership and service.

YOUR LLHS ADVANTAGE Justin Vanderhoof, after a student asked if he would keep teaching if he ever won the lottery: “I didn’t have to think very long. I said, ‘Yes, because I love what I do.’ Why is that? Because, to paraphrase a colleague, ‘teenagers are pretty amazing human beings.’ I love building relationships with our students so that they grow into more than just students.”

We look to serve students and families in the Federation and from surrounding communities by emphasizing our “4 Uniques”: 1. STABILITY: We’ve been sharing God’s Word with teens from among six Wisconsin counties for over 65 years.

2. BREADTH: Our comprehensive Christcentered curriculum offers a well-rounded education for all post-secondary pursuits.

3. MENTORING: Students are guided with law and gospel in academics, co-curriculars and personal relationships.

4. BUSING: Transportation to and from school is included in our tuition cost, serving 99% of our students’ local communities.

CHRIST IN EVERYTHING Why one family is choosing to send five boys to Lakeside over 13 years: “We value the ‘ands’ that Lakeside provides. The boys could play sports anywhere, get educated anywhere. At Lakeside they have daily devotions and prayers, regular chapel services. Students can lead worship, devotions and prayer.

Whether in worship, classrooms, or co-curricular activities—in both internal and public undertakings— our first purpose and goal is to glorify the Savior in all that is taught, shared or witnessed at LLHS. Every other value flows from this overarching focus.

EXCELLENCE Qualified Christian faculty and staff, along with a rigorous curriculum and expansive co-curricular opportunities, educate and equip students in both breadth and depth—breadth in knowledge and experiences that promote lifelong success, and depth in areas that inspire individual student pursuits of further education, useful vocations or personal goals.

🔺 The 2024/25 WIAA Award of

Excellence meant LLHS was recognized as one of 39 among 515 member high schools who excelled in 20 areas within sportsmanship, ethics, integrity, leadership, character and administrative accomplishments.

🔺 After its 15th Capitol Conference championship in 16 years, Warrior forensics culminated the 2026 season with bronze medals from the Wisconsin Forensics Coaching Association (WFCA) state tournament, where 850 teens from 61 schools competed in 19 speaking categories.

meet, all four of our varsity teams finished in the top 5 of 21 teams from 9 schools, including champion and runner-up. The spring Conference meet brought our varsity team its 14th consecutive championship.

Continued accreditation valid through 2029/30

In 2026, 29 of 72 State Music Association entries earned *1st and a trip to the WSMA State Festival. Of those, 25 received another 1st place, with an unprecedented 4 vocal and 2 instrumental “Exemplary Performance” recognitions among them.

In a school publication that celebrated a year of amazing successes, Admissions Director Steve Lauber shared this thought with families making decisions about high schools: “... we love advancing to State competitions and enjoying the blessings of earthly success and great living, but in the hallways and classrooms of Lakeside Lutheran High School, we are reminded daily that there are even better things waiting for all believers.

“What a blessing to share the good news of Jesus on a daily basis.”

FAMILY

Fostering and maintaining an environment where our students, families and staff feel safe, fortified and loved encourages a peaceful, cooperative setting.

As each person models Christ by placing others before self, this Christian family-focus means we apply the humility of the Law and the unconditional love of the Gospel in all circumstances

The south cafeteria features an original work of art, conceived and installed by a Warrior mom and professional artist as a tribute to the sense of family the Lakeside “family” embodies in so many ways.

“This is Lakeside” is a phrase meant to give glory to God through demonstrations of his love—the kind of love that is often seen in a family. It’s a spirit of unity, of knowing it’s better together. It’s reveling in the love of Jesus—it’s his love that makes us proud to show the world the blessings that we have, that we eagerly share.

Almost half of the bead strands in the artwork were designed & assembled by our supporting churches, grade schools & early childhood centers.

(Warrior teams, groups, homerooms, students and staff provided the remainder; Industrial Arts students recycled old bleacher wood for the frame.)

Events including Grandparents Days Veterans Day observances and others, such as Career Day, concerts, theatre performances, appreciation nights and receptions, all serve to welcome our extended family and community to campus to visit, interact with students and worship with us through word and music.

the military blossomed into a permanent “Forever Warrior Wall of Honor” for Lakeside alum who have sacrificed in service to their God & country.

SERVANT LEADERSHIP Modeling and molding service among faculty, staff, students and volunteers equips a bold, proactive and productive community that witnesses to the Savior’s servant-heart.

However, what makes Lakeside such an awesome place are the students.

They are amazing in so many ways: smart, athletic, personable, and lovers of their Lord. It’s so easy to love Lakeside when you see so many great kids.

I absolutely love how much school spirit they have. It really means something to them to be a Lakeside Warrior and that is a pretty special thing to be a part of.

Whether it’s in class, in athletics, music or other co-curriculars, service or fellowship events such as New Friends gatherings or elementary field trips, students and staff are exposed to many opportunities to serve others and witness to Jesus’ love in their hearts and hands.

I’ve been teaching a long time, and the longer I teach, the more I see the importance of a Christian education. Lakeside is a great place to feed your faith. I can truly say that every faculty member and all of our staff at Lakeside have a love for this school and a love for their Savior that shows in all that they do. Day in, day out they are giving it their best to give teens the best Christian education they can get.

It’s an honor and a privilege to work with so many incredibly talented people.

Lakeside’s music program is out of this world, [It’s rare for a high] school to have a choir director who composes his own music, based on the theme of the school that specific year, and arranges multiple pieces for the greater Madison area to hear any given Sunday during the traveling A Cappella choir season.

Industrial Arts teacher Caleb Kasper regularly models above-and-beyond living to his students, including teaching an art student ice sculpting during a downtown Lake Mills festival, mentoring a tech ed student as he welds a time capsule for the 2024 campus addition dedication, or sharing the art of theatre set construction with Woods 3 teens.

With the building mortgage retired in 2021, building and campus projects for the next several years were funded under Free2Act, dedicated to debtfree spending. Major improvements included a west gym remodel— enhancing chapel assemblies, stage and athletic activities; a cafeteria remodel and addition, doubling seating capacity; and a main entry and reception area remodel/addition, improving traffic flow and providing generous gathering spaces.

A History written By His Design Our high school begins with > 41 students, in the facilities of St. Paul’s School, Fort Atkinson. Enrollment grows to over 200 by 1962.

Enrollment reaches 400; portable classrooms added.

< The Lake Mills campus is dedicated in Nov. The 66,000 ft2 school building cost $700,000 to build on 33 acres purchased in 1961 from Attorney Robert Ferry for $33,000.

The first major > campus expansion is dedicated, adding 8,000 ft2, comprised of 11 classrooms & other educational space at a cost of $955,000.

1985

West Gym renovation in ‘22 brings padded retractable bleachers and a theatre aesthetic. 20 year enrollment record broken when 23/24 begins with 538.

Record enrollment of 523 students.

2024 sees a $3.5M debt-free remodel of the cafeteria, lobby lavatories, and front office along with a 5.500 ft2 addition of a “south” cafeteria and main entry/ vestibule expansion, an auxiliary kitchen, hallway and lavatory, office space and storage rooms.

< A $7.2M, 50,000 ft2 expansion features a second gym, atrium, band/choir rooms, a hallway of 4 science classrooms, a weight room, locker rooms, trainer’s room and storage areas, and a media center and courtyard.

100 hallway classrooms are renovated into admin offices and workroom, plus conference room space. Steam heat is replaced with boiler-based rooftop units, and basement grounds storage is remodeled into a larger art classroom.

Students enrolled under the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program begin fall semester.

25 students (22 freshmen/3 transfers) comprise the first year of “choice” students.

TODAY Serving well over 500 students, Lakeside Lutheran is positioned to create spaces that reflect His excellence, expand our capacity to serve more families, and invest in the next chapter of His design so that generations to come may be prepared to lead courageously in His name.

BY HIS DESIGN (BHD) is a 3-year [2026–28], $9.2M initiative to expand and renovate classrooms, create flexible learning spaces, and provide more room for athletics, arts & co-curriculars. These improvements are not just about buildings— they are about ministry. Every classroom and shared space will serve as a tool to carry out God’s purpose at Lakeside: to form disciples, nurture faith, and equip Christian leaders for generations to come.

Among the projects beginning summer of 2026 include: » FACS (Foods & Consumer Science) Classroom Remodel: updates entire learning space, including 4 new student kitchen workspaces » Media Center Remodel: provides additional Extended Learning Center classroom & Student Services admin office » Courtyard Remodel: adds 24x30’ greenhouse and 45x25’ garden, renovates landscape » Industrial Arts Remodel: turns corridor and storage to 20x40’ classroom » East Parking Lot Expansion: remodels existing lot to accommodate new buildings, adds retaining wall and provides a net nine additional parking stalls » Northwest Classrooms Addition: adds 6 ~700sf classrooms, loading dock, 1,200sf STEM lab, indoor/outdoor lavatories (ground level), outdoor storage » Multi-Purpose & Locker room Addition: adds 10,000sf multi-purpose space, visitor locker room, officials’ changing room » Concession Building: adds ticket windows, 830sf concessions with 2 serving windows, outdoor covered patio, lavatories, athletic storage

CAMPUS EXPANSION UNDERWAY in 2026

An addition will see 7 classrooms & workrooms and lavatories to the northwest corner of campus, ready for use by August 2027.

One of the planned classrooms is to be a large STEM lab adjacent to our existing woods lab.

The addition of a multipurpose space, locker rooms and expanded east side parking is also part of the plan.

A self-standing building for ticketing, concessions and lavatories on the south end of the outdoor field is also planned.
