Your stately Advantage ...focus on our spiritual state

A message from Steve

State, State, State …

it seems all I heard in the halls of Lakeside for a year.

 Cross country wins State Title

 Forensics heads to State

 Robotics team advances to State

 Wrestler to State

Music Solos & Ensembles go to State

 Basketball runner-up at State

Track & Field wins a 2nd straight State Title

It’s June now and the hallways are quiet. As I sit in my office with a cup of coffee, I’m also thinking of all the cool things the State of Wisconsin has to offer: cheese curds, fish fries, State Fair, House on the Rock, dairy farms, the Brewers, Bucks, and Packers, fishing lakes, Wisconsin Dells, Harley-Davidson, cream puffs. What could ever be better than Wisconsin? Pause . . . Pause . . . Pause ... That’s easy. Heaven.

I’m confident heaven will have cheese curds and cream puffs, fun water rides and beautiful scenery. What’s even better is that in heaven there will be no biting mosquitoes, no stinging hornets, no oppressive humidity, no bone-chilling wind chills.

Jesus makes it clear in his Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapter 6 that we should not live for earthly treasures, but for treasures in heaven.

... For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21

Congrats to our 2023/24 passport winner, Brady Winkelman, a 6th grader at TSL, Watertown, this fall.

He qualified with 10 stamps in his passport (as did 45 other K-8 students). He won some cool Warrior gear and a $500 LLHS tuition voucher. WTG!

So, sure, we love advancing to State and enjoying the blessings of earthly success, but in hallways and classrooms of Lakeside Lutheran, we are reminded daily that we have even better things waiting for all believers. What a blessing to share the good news of Jesus on a daily basis. And now, I’m going to Culver's for some cheese curds!

The STATE of Lakeside

What a year! If you read Mr. Lauber’s message, you saw all the ways your Warrior athletes went to state competitions this year. Celebrate with us!

State Champ: Cross Country

Our team of 5 guys scored 112 points to beat Winneconne (116) for the team trophy. Senior Cameron Weiland took 5th place when he ran 5K in 16 min. 11 sec.— the highest single finish in school history.

State Runner Up: Basketball

Our Warrior boys won the state semi-final, our first win at the Kohl Center! Then they brought home the silver ball as the D3 State Boys Basketball Runner-Up.

State qualifier: senior wrestler

Sam Schmidt (#165) advanced to state, the first time in 12 years that a Warrior wrestler earned a state berth.

State Champ: Track & Field (2nd year in a row)

With a score of 81, 14 Warrior boys set a D2 record for most team points in state history. The runner-up scored 37, making ours one of the largest margins of victory— across all divisions—in state history.

Sportsmanship Award for 2024 Boys State Basketball Tournament

This award—given by WIAA, sponsored by Rural Mutual Insurance—is a prestigious honor, recognizing the entire Warrior community—including our grade school fans!

"This is a significant recognition statewide as it encompasses the entire Warrior Nation—team, coaches, administration, office staff, students, band, dance team, parents, supporting fans, supervisors, chaperones, all involved," says A.D. Todd Jahns. "In a tangible and noticeable manner, the Lord used a basketball stage for all of us to serve Him, to share our ministry, and to positively impact people. To God be the glory!"

A Future Advantage

focus on exciting campus improvements

Been on campus lately?

If you spend time at Lakeside for camps or sports or band or games this summer and fall, things sure will look different. In fact, they already do!

On April 8, we broke ground to expand and renovate our cafeteria and front entry. When it’s finished, you’ll see a more prominent main entrance and front lawn monument, a remodeled & bigger cafeteria and front office, and renovated lobby restrooms. The whole project is expected to be complete by December.

This means there will be more room in the cafeteria for all of our Warriors. (We are planning for an 2024/25 enrollment of almost 570 come August.) Plus, the new entryway will get your attention, giving you a great first impression when you come to campus.

Until then, pardon the noise, the dust, and the parking. We’re making Lakeside even better!

First day, April 8

Foundation walls in, May 10

Entry demo, May 24

Cafeteria cleared, June 4 More exterior progress, June 19

why Lakeside is worth it

for next-year freshmen

enroll online

What about? THE DRIVE

When our boys basketball team won the sectional final against Platteville in a game played at Wisconsin Dells High School, a sports reporter tweeted, “Not sure anyone travels as well as Warrior fans.”

2

The enrollment process is completely online. In mid- to late November, an enrollment link becomes active There is no official deadline to enroll, but the $200 tuition downpayment enrollment has a $200 fee added for enrollments that occur If you need assistance with online access, please don’t hesitate

course selection

Students may select courses online for next school year beginning Students must be enrolled before they can select courses.

That might be because Warriors are used to traveling every day for school. The average drive is 19.96 miles to get to campus each day. Many students— typically 40-45%—use a Lakeside bus to get to school, but there are some whom even the bus routes can't feasibly manage. Why would these families choose LLHS?

apply for aid (optional)

With a one-way drive of 52 miles, senior Kate and sophomore Jack Thiele, who live near Lodi, are in the 1.8% of Warriors who live over 45 miles away. Hear from Kate about what this looks like and why Lakeside is worth it:

You will receive an invitation in early January at the e-mail address The e-mail will contain a link to follow should you wish to apply application process, you will need your most recent tax return, eligible for the first round of awards, your financial aid application notifications are issued in late spring.

“I pack the night before so I can be ready,” Kate says. She also used to wake up “a little after 5, but I’m sleeping in a little bit now.”

Note: Applying for financial aid in PowerSchool is not the same process Choice Program (WPCP) or Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP) WPCP/SNSP, you are strongly encouraged to also apply for aid from voucher are not eligible for additional aid.

Ultimately it becomes an issue of time management, but as a Westside Christian, Middleton, elementary grad, she was used to quite a drive, even for grade school. “I’ve always lived far away from where I’ve gone to school so it’s never really been an issue,” she says.

e-sign your tuition agreement

You’ll receive an e-mail in summer that reminds you to go into agreement after July 1 and before the August registration nights

As far as making friends, the distance hasn’t been a problem. “They’re my friends and we make it work. And it’s so awesome when I get to see them because I don’t always see them every day, it makes the time we do get together more special,” she shares.

about the Wisconsin Parental

Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) offers families receive a voucher for full tuition cost. The enrollment period Lakeside Lutheran is a choice school under the statewide WPCP.

A link to the DPI website that provides important information application will be available under admissions on llhs.org

But is it worth it? Kate believes it is! “The commute to Lakeside is so worth it, so very worth it, because we’re at this school to feed our faith and learn more about Jesus.”
