9 Gas prices seem to keep changing (in one direction) on an almost daily basis.

9 County Stadium changed to Miller Park, then to American Family Field.

9 Society changes to accept and then even promote viewpoints that go directly against God’s law.

9 Teenage mental health is changing, and for the most part, not for the better.

Here at Lakeside, we are undergoing many changes as we look to a new school year … changes in leadership, changes in our building, changes among our faculty and coaching staff.

We can’t avoid change; however; by God’s grace, we have one thing that will never change– God’s unchanging Word in the Bible and the promise that believers are saved for eternity without our lifting a finger.

Jesus did it all for us. Faith in that secures us a spot in Heaven.

What a comfort that is – to us as parents, to our former students, our current students, and the next generation of students at Lakeside.

We also have one thing that never changes right here at Lakeside. We teach the unchangeable truths from God’s Word in all of our classes. Whether that is Creation in science class, God’s take on the value of life in health class, God’s complexity in math class, or his love for us in every class, what a joy and comfort to assure everyone on a daily basis about these truths.

Hands-on learning helps students see God the Creator’s smart, powerful designs What an infusion of energy on our campus in March as hundreds of 2nd graders—and some 1-4th classmates—joined us for a morning of fun. Twelve schools got a taste of high school during a visit during which they stopped by the FFA/Tech Ed classroom with Mr. Meske to learn about soil, seeds, the growing cycle—and eat dirt cups. Then they headed to Mrs. Schommer’s STEM Academy classroom to learn about engineering. There they designed fork bridges to see how much weight their builds could hold, engineered structures out of spaghetti and marshmallows, and played with playdough. Plus, each group of students posed for a photo with the Lakeside students who attended their grade school. Privileged to host!

Bucky Badger, Bernie Brewer, Bango—and Bob? You might recognize the mascot names from UW-Madison, the Brewers or the Bucks, but did you know that Lakeside has had a mascot named Bob? Yep, he was Warrior Bob. Well, that’s about to change. Bob is now retired, just like our Principal, Mr. Grasby (they're pictured together at left ).

This coming year, we’re getting a new mascot, which means we need a new name. Our new mascot will be another guy, but he'll look a bit more gritty than good ol' Bob did—eager and ready to win!

We’re inviting the whole Lakeside family to participate in suggesting and picking a new name.

So, this summer, send us your idea. We want our new Warrior’s name to be fun and school-oriented.

K-8 contributors who make the finalist list become eligible for a $200 tuition credit for first semester at LLHS, selected at random from among the finalists. LLHS students and staff will vote on the final name choice. If a mascot name is chosen from among K-8 entries, that winner will also receive some mascot-themed prize (other ages are also eligible to submit name ideas, so the mascot name is not guaranteed from among elementary suggestions). Winners’ parents will be notified by phone or email and recognized in the next edition of the magazine. Lakeside is not responsible for misdirected or lost entries. A Fine Advantage

The halls were alive with the sound of music!

We loved welcoming hundreds of grade school musicians from 20 Federation schools to our Fine Arts Fest in April. What a joy to hear the almost 700 entries use their gifts, individually as well as in their LES choirs and bands.

Want to keep the music going?

Join our Beginner or Cadet Band this fall! Each year, elementary students join together to develop their musical skills—offered FREE because we love band members of all ages!

Beginner Band: First-year musicians (typically 4th or 5th graders) practice together for five weeks, then hold a short concert the last Saturday to show off their progress to friends and family.

Cadet Band: Experienced musicians (and color guard!) make up our Cadet Band. They practice for 5 weeks then join the Warrior Band for the annual Fall Concert on a Sunday afternoon.
