A day in the life of a Warrior

Sometimes grade schoolers wonder how days in high school are different from theirs. Want to know what it’s like to spend a day as a freshman at Lakeside?

Brooke Parkhurst, class of 2024, let us follow her around for a day last spring. Remember, not everyone has the same schedule...for instance, many freshmen include a study hall each day or take a world language or art class. Warriors have about 4 minutes to get to their next class, which is plenty of time, believe it or not!

• 7:10 Brooke leaves her house to head to the bus stop in Johnson Creek. Some teens need to leave earlier.

• 8:00 (Period 1): Computer Essentials (required for freshman every other day/study hall opposite days)

• 8:47 (Period 2): Engineering Essentials (Brooke is part of our STEM Academy.)

• 9:35 Chapel / Meeting or Homeroom time

• 10:00 (Period 3): General Science (All students are required to take 3 credits in Science.)

• 10:47 (Period 4-5): Band (Freshmen must take a fine arts credit. When registering, the default class is Freshman Chorus, but you can opt to take band instead, like Brooke did. Some take both.)

• 11:36 Lunch 6: Many students’ favorite part of the day! (The whole “period 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8 thing” during lunch got you confused? Don’t worry. You’ll catch on quickly as soon as you’re here! )

• 12:03 (Period 7-8): Old Testament (Students take a religion class every year. Christ in Everything!)

• 12:51 (Period 9): Algebra 1 (Students take a placement test in May to determine which path of math courses to take. All students are required to take at least 3 credits in Math.)

• 1:40 (Period 10): English 9 (All students are required to take 4 credits in English.)

• 2:27 (Period 11): Phy Ed (Every freshman is required to take P.E. In grades 10-12, phy ed is an elective.)

• 3:17 If Brooke goes home right after school, she has 7 minutes after period 11 ends to board the bus, but if you’re involved in after-school activities like she is (and there are SO MANY to choose from) ... the fun doesn’t stop at 3:10 PM! Brooke is involved in extracurriculars each season.

Fall: Golf
