Your Needful Advantage
...focus on what doesn't change
T
he past few months were challenging for everyone involved in education: parents,
students, teachers, and administrators. Learning to cope in isolation was especially difficult for some. When Lakeside first planned for daily online instruction, we also considered learner needs. We asked, “What might work?”, “How would we deliver it?”, and “What is Plan B if Plan A fails?” Within
LLHS faculty at the start of the 2019-20 school year
days, it became apparent that God blessed our plans, for they succeeded. We continued to discuss, collaborate, and improve our product to our students. For the remainder of the 20-21 school year, Lakeside provided daily online instruction and held its students accountable. Our students grew in various ways because of the school’s expectations. The Lakeside “advantage” is far greater than classroom expectations. It is also the expectations of our families to teach their sons and daughters God’s Word. In religious instruction and chapel, in instruction in any class, and even in out-of-school activities, Lakeside students are led to see their sin and the resulting punishment through the law, their Savior’s love and his forgiveness in the gospel, and their sure hope of eternal life. This is the advantage of Christian secondary education at Lakeside. Lakeside students are led to see life for what it is: here today and changed tomorrow. But, they also see the reality of the life to come through Christ. This is the Lakeside Advantage!

Your Chosen Advantage
...focus on choosing the best for now & the future
The “Lakeside Advantage”...is it for you? You have a choice when it comes to high schools. Why choose Lakeside? Because we give you an advantage—now and in the future.
It all starts and ends with Jesus. Every day, you are reminded that your identity as God’s child is already secure. Then, every class helps you expand your thinking, find your interests, and see how you can use your specific gifts for God’s glory.
It follows with excellence. Our wide variety of practical courses develops those gifts, whether in math, art, technology, sciences, STEM, consumer economics, languages, or social studies. Our students consistently score higher on tests, keeping us in the top 2% of the state when it comes to college-prep ACT test scores. We also have successful apprenticeships that will help to supply skilled hands and active minds for the upcoming needs in trades and agriculture.
We model servant-leadership. That has a distinct effect on students who are looking to glorify their Savior in words and actions. Teens learn they are not too young to show Jesus to others and are eager and proactive when it comes to opportunities to serve and assist. You’re invited to join this enthusiastic crowd as both a leader and as a supporter of others’ efforts in local and even worldwide efforts!
Then, we surround you with a supportive community. Our dedicated, experienced faculty (many with master’s degrees) lead classes where you receive personal, Christian attention. Our positive, motivated student body shows love for Jesus and others, challenging you to do your best. With these friends, you’ll find a group of people who encourage you through the challenging high school years. And you will do the same for them! While our faith focus and high academic standards give you an advantage now, that advantage continues into the future. Whether you join the workforce, attend a community college or four-year university, or join the military, we consistently hear from business leaders, colleges, and employers who comment on the advantage they have in hiring or enrolling Lakeside grads who are solid students, faithful employees, and dedicated to do their best.
Check out the Lakeside advantage in person. We’d love to talk to you about it! Contact Admissions Director Mr. Lauber (slauber@llhs.org or 920-648-2321 x 2218) to schedule a visit or conversation! issue 22 • llhs.org/K-8 • page 3

Ask Mr. Lauber
Have you ever wondered something about Lakeside but weren’t sure who would know? Mr. Lauber’s your guy!
What do you have to do? Ask Mr. Lauber anything! Of course, he’s not promising he can answer everything, but he’s looking forward to a question or eighteen that might challenge his knowledge of Lakeside. You can certainly ask more than one question, but you should let us know which one you want to be entered into the contest since there’s a limit of one per student for entry. If it seems like a question he should answer right away, he will; otherwise, he’ll save up his answers for the next edition of the Advantage this fall.
How do you enter the contest? Go to llhs.org/advantagecontest to enter your question and contact information online, or e-mail slauber@llhs.org with your question, name, school, grade, and parent’s information. You may also mail your question and identifying personal info using the form below to: LLHS, 231 Woodland Beach Rd. Lake Mills, WI 53551.
What else do you need to know? Contest open to students in 2020-21 grades K–8. Children of LLHS employees are ineligible for prizes. One entry per person. Winners will be chosen from all accepted entries based on appropriateness, originality and creativity. One winner will receive $200 tuition credit applicable toward the first semester of attendance at Lakeside, and runners up will receive Lauber Lakeside bling. Prizes are not transferable. Deadline to enter is Monday, September 7, 2020; winners’ parents will be notified by phone or email and recognized in the next edition of the magazine. Lakeside is not responsible for misdirected or lost entries. Acceptability of questions will be at the sole discretion of judges.

Your Extra Advantage
...what's extra about LLHS education?
What’s the “extra” advantage? EXTRAcurriculars, of course! Most students tell you that Lakeside academics prepare you well for the future, but that many of the best memories are made outside the classroom. With 40 Warrior activities and about 425 classmates, Lakeside is big enough to broaden your horizons and small enough for you to participate. We have so many opportunities for you. What will you choose? Into music? More than 60% of our student body participate in bands, ensembles, and choirs. Want to explore your creativity? Check out our visual arts. Maybe sports is your game. We have 16 sports teams, waiting for you to carry on the Warrior pride! Or join our conference champion Math and Forensics teams. Explore technology with our STEM Club, develop your videography skills, or try your hand at robotics. And for sure, let your light shine! With Operation Go and Teens for Christ, students live out their faith—whether in school, in the community, or throughout the country. Develop your leadership skills with FFA, National Honor Society, Student Council. Contribute to student publications like the weekly newspaper or yearbook. However you get involved, the Lakeside advantage is that all of our athletes, performers, leaders, and social activists use the gifts God has given them to the best of their ability, all to his glory.
That’s a lifelong advantage!
