There was a sitcom a number of years ago that portrayed the main characters as bad, loweffort Christmas shoppers. They bought all of their Christmas presents at the gas station convenience store. They gave their friends wiper blades, new-car-smell spray, and soda—whatever they could find at the gas station. I wish I could do that!
like those TV characters, buying your relative a snow brush and a pair of sunglasses at Kwik Trip on the way to the Christmas party. I think those TV characters were on to something.
As you shop, remember that God has already given to you and to your loved ones The Gift that is the perfect combination of what you need and what you want. We need a Savior from sin. We want love, joy and hope. Jesus, given as The Gift at Christmas, is the perfect combination of what we need and what we want. He is the best, most expensive gift ever given. And he’s been given to you.
Isn’t that the challenge of Christmas shopping? You’re supposed to find something that fits someone’s personality. Your challenge is to find a gift that is the perfect combination of what someone needs and what someone wants. You don’t want it to be too expensive, but also not too cheap. Where do you find that?

Girls Cross Country: Natalie Schultz [St. Paul, Lake Mills] (22nd/19:55) became the first girl in Lakeside history to break the 20-min. barrier since the girls’ race distance moved to 5K in 2014. Girls were conference champs for the second year in a row. Hannah Minning [St. Luke, Watertown] is Conference Performer of the Year
Boys Cross Country: Moved to D1 this year. They finished 3rd in conference.
Girls golf: 2nd in conference and regionals, advanced to sectionals. Senior Reagan Gebhart finished first at both conference and regionals
Volleyball: With 23-17 overall record, their 8-0 conference record earned them the championship. They were also regional champs. Ella Schuetz [St. Paul, Lake Mills] was also named Conference Player of the Year for the second year in a row. She was also named to the AVCA all-region team for Region 6 and first team all-state.
Boys soccer: Ended with a record of 12-6-1. Senior midfielder Easton Wolfram [Eastside] was named Conference Player of the Year, the first Warrior since 2015. Easton also made the all-state list.

Ø Call News: Our General Board issued 3 calls at its Nov. 18 meeting: For Art, to ‘05 alum Amanda Hoeppner, currently an art teacher at Ripon High School. For Spanish, to Joseph Schmudlach, currently serving at Evergreen Lutheran High School. For English, to Emily Chandonnet, currently serving at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School.
Ø Our Warrior Academic Bowl team took 1st in the annual Capitol North conference competition! This is the first 1st place finish since 2006. Three individuals also won first place in their events: Lexi Krahn [Eastside], English 10; Maya Damm [Door Creek], English 9; and Paxton Denning-Caldwell [Peace, Sun Prairie], Geography.
Ø On the Fall Focus trip, 42 junior and senior Warriors traveled to Martin Luther College to consider a career as a pastor or teacher.
Ø Swing Choir participated in a Friday Pops Concert and a Sunday Sacred Concert at the WELS Regional Choral Fest at St. Croix Lutheran in West St. Paul, Minn.
Football: The team switched to the Badger Small Conference and had a record of 1-8. Six players earned seven spots on all-conference teams.
