your sin is like the Snow Do you still like snow? Or, are you now wishing that it would melt away? We finally had a big snowstorm in January. It’s been Pastor Don Schultz is principal awhile since that happened. Most of Lakeside Lutheran. people are excited about that Reach him at 920.648.2321 or first big snowfall. Everything dschultz@llhs.org is blanketed in white. All the imperfections of the world—dead grass, overgrown bushes —are covered with a beautiful blanket of white.
God compares snow to your sin. God says in Isaiah 1:18: “‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow.’” When God forgives your sin, it’s as though he is covering your sin with snow. Your sin starts out as “scarlet”—a red color that stands out. You wish you could make this stain disappear. You wish you could make your sin go away. But your sins are like scarlet—a red color so difficult to hide—a blemish you can’t fix by yourself. God covers your sin with his forgiveness: “They shall be as white as snow.” It’s as though a big snowstorm blankets your sin. Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross is that powerful—all of your sins are as white as snow! At Lakeside, this is our number one message to students: Look at the snow! And think of how
God covers your sin. ❧DS
