LLHS FED eration CONnection

At the end of a dentist appointment, what do you hope to hear? Most of us hope the dentist will say, “Well, everything looks fine—see you next time!” The last time I went to the dentist, I heard the opposite: “Everything does not look fine—you need to go to the specialist.” And so I did.

I found out that sometimes, no matter how much you brush and floss, “unpleasant procedures” (that’s the nicest way of describing it!) need to take place. Deep down, I knew that this bad news was coming— this was an issue I had been aware of for awhile. I had been trying to forget about it—but not anymore.

It’s one thing to have your teeth evaluated. It’s another thing to have your soul evaluated. Do you know what happens when someone puts on the magnifying glasses and shines the light onto your soul? There’s some uncomfortable silence, and then you hear those dreaded words, “You need to go to the specialist.”

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Jesus is the only way to fix the problem of sin, the only one bold enough to tell you the truth about your soul and give you eternal life. His solution is surprisingly merciful. No unpleasant procedure. Jesus does it all! He takes the punishment for your sin by his death on that cross. And then he rises from the dead, giving you eternal life. Jesus invites you to believe, and be saved! There is no better news to hear than this!

We have this specialist here at Lakeside. The students spend time with him every day. He also makes house calls and is willing to visit with you any time, day or night. Just open the Bible, and he will be there.

I hope you get good news next time you’re at the dentist! You will always get good news when you visit Jesus: Your sins are forgiven! And eternal life is really yours.
