The latest in Call News at Lakeside Lutheran:
• Mr. Justin Vanderhoof received a call April 5 to teach departmentalized upper grades at St. Philips Lutheran School, Milwaukee.

• On April 5, Mr. Matt Doering received a call to serve as a Teacher Administrator for the One Africa Team of WELS world missions in Lusaka, Zambia.
• Mr. Nate Sievert announced that he is resigning at the end of this school year to pursue other opportunities outside of teaching. To fill Mr. Sievert’s position, we are temporarily hiring Mr. Austin DeNoyer to work in the PE and Athletic Departments. Austin has high school experience working in this area, and he looks forward to re-joining the Lakeside family (LL ‘16).
• We are thrilled that Mr. Phil Dretske and Mr. Todd Hackbarth both recently returned calls and will continue in their ministries at LLHS.
• Mid-April, Mrs. Elizabeth Koester returned our call to serve in the Extended Learning Center.
' The Warrior Band answered a request from St. Stephen, Beaver Dam, to participate in a Make-A-Wish program where students raised funds for a 3-yearold from West Bend living with B-cell lymphoma.
' For the second year, freshman phy ed classes took part in an “in-house” field trip. They learned Ballroom Dancing, led by Warrior mom Rachel Henriquez [St. Luke, Watertown].
' Isaac Winters [St. Luke, Watertown] has been named a Finalist in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. He plans to pursue a degree in computer science and artificial intelligence at the University of Texas–Dallas.
' The forensics team culminated its season with a third place finish in D3 at the Wisconsin Forensics Coaches’ Association (WFCA) state tournament in Oshkosh. The top individual scorers for Lakeside were Ruby Langille [St. Paul, Lake Mills] prose; Elizabeth Mellon [Our Redeemer, Madison] prose; Angelina Petrovic [Lakeview, Stoughton] poetry. Other notable scores included Jayden Rabehl [St. John, Juneau] solo humorous; Maria Vik [St. Paul, Fort] storytelling; Linc Foskett [St. John, Jefferson] moments in history; Naomi Jenson [St. Paul, Lake Mills] solo serious; Emma Smulders [Trinity, Watertown] solo humorous.
' A final touch was added to the West Gym remodel: a backlit cross and lettering on the stage proscenium, installed by Amplify Graphics & Branding. It’s a great reminder to focus on praising Jesus during chapel and always.
' We welcomed two student teachers this semester. Sheldon Habben worked with Matt Doering [St. Paul, Lake Mills] and Nicholas Mitchell was supervised by Jodie Schommer [Bethany, Fort]
' Four Warriors went with Officer Jessica Johnson to St. Paul, Lake Mills, for a D.A.R.E. presentation. SPL grads Trey Lauber, Olivia Bartels, Luke Krauklis, and Ava Stein joined for recess and lunch and answered questions about being in high school.
' FFA Week was full of fun—games before school and contests during lunch, as well as the always-popular “Drive Your Tractor to School Day.” With the most student donations given in his name, Assistant Principal John Dorn won the dubious honor of kissing a calf during an all-school assembly. >>>

' 9 winter athletes received Capitol allconference honors: Levi Birkholz [Trinity, Watertown], BBB 1st first team, Player of the Year, WBCA All-State 1st team; Trey Lauber, BBB 2nd team; Ethan Schuetz [St. Paul, Lake Mills], BBB HM; Will Miller [Cornerstone, Waterloo], BBB HM; Colten Schultz [St. John, Juneau], wrestling 1st team 170#; Dane McIlvain [St. Matthew, Janesville], wrestling HM 138#; Jenna Shadoski [St. Matthew, Janesville], GBB 1st team; Marin Riesen [St. Luke, Watertown], GBB 2nd team; Ava Stein, GBB HM.
' 3 wrestlers named to Academic AllState team: Isaac Winters, Dane McIlvain and Sam Schmidt [Peace, Janesville] with honorable mention. A 3.5 GPA is required for nomination.
' 10 boys basketball players were Academic All-State: Levi Birkholz, Tyler Gresens [Peace, Sun Prairie], Trey Lauber, Anders Liermann [St. Andrew, Middleton], Ethan Schuetz, Jay Yahnke [Trinity, Watertown], Kooper Mlsna [St. Paul, Lake Mills], Josh Jorgensen [Our Redeemer, Madison], Josh Powers [Eastside, Madison], and Alex Reinke [St. Luke, Watertown].
