Excited about Babies

Do you get excited about babies? We’ve had a number of babies born to our faculty and staff recently at Lakeside. One of our bus drivers was recently blessed with the birth of twins (a boy and a girl)! Shortly after that, one of our teachers was blessed when his wife gave birth to a baby daughter. Less than a week later, another one of our teachers gave birth to a baby girl. We’ve had a lot of excitement at Lakeside recently because of these babies!

Every birth is an amazing blessing from God—something we always want to celebrate. In a world that seems to appreciate the gift of life less and less, we thank God for this blessing, especially when it happens to people we know.

When was the last time a baby was born to you? Do you remember the excitement you felt when that newborn baby was yours? You’re happy for others when they experience the birth of a baby, but you’re especially excited when it happens to you!

Pastor Don Schultz is interim principal of Lakeside Lutheran. Reach him at 920.648.2321 or dschultz@llhs.org

There is one baby that has been born to you, that I hope you never lose excitement for, and that baby is Jesus Christ. God says that this baby was born to you: “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Christ, the Lord” (Luke 2:11). Long before Jesus was born, God told you that Jesus would be given to you: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given” (Isaiah 9:6).

Isn’t this good news? Jesus wasn’t just born on Christmas. He was born to you. God gave a son—the Son of God—to you! Of all the babies to get excited about—this one tops them all! Jesus’ arrival into your life means blessing upon blessing as he brings God’s grace and the forgiveness of sins and eternal life all to you.

A baby being born to someone at Lakeside is great news! Jesus being born to you is the greatest news of all.
