A Message from the Development Director

Thank You

Scripture reminds us that giving from the heart is in appreciation for what our Savior endured on the cross that we may share eternal life with him in heaven.

It is truly a blessing to see the Lord encouraging individuals to grow in their Christian giving through Lakeside’s Giving Society. The gifts that have been given over the past year have tremendously benefitted God’s ministry here at Lakeside Lutheran.

Because of your generosity, you have given more students the opportunity to walk these halls, allowed our facilities to be wellmaintained, and most importantly, helped spread the Gospel to teens, staff, families and the community. It is a joy to see firsthand what impact you have made on our faculty, staff and students.

Even though we will never be able to say “Thank You” enough for what you do, we have provided a few special events in your honor. Your Development team looks forward to visiting with you, so please join us for fun Christian fellowship with others who share love for their Savior and Lakeside Lutheran High School.

A grand decade of support for Christian education The Hay Loft in Watertown hosted our 10th Grand Event— a Denim & Diamonds celebration! • April 10, 2021 A little wet weather could not dampen the spirits of the 250 guests and volunteers that gathered in this elegant barn venue to celebrate and support Christian education. Lakeside was showered with the blessing of fellowship and many financial gifts on this grand day. We also hosted online opportunities to support our mission for those unable to attend. (Special thanks to those 25 alum who donated auction items!)

An open house format this year allowed guests to come and go or stay the entire afternoon.

We are so grateful to everyone who made this day possible and contributed to the success. It is an honor to partner with family, friends, and our community for the ministry of Lakeside Lutheran High School. This year’s Event netted over $95,000 and goes to support general operating, financial aid, and the building improvement funds, as well as these specific projects: • Operation GO mission trips: $3,200 • Augmented-reality sandbox: $3,515 • TechEd machine tools: $2,535 • Videography: $1,551 • Consumer Science kitchen tools: $715 • Locker room rehab: $5,180 • Toward a new Warrior Bob: $1,520 • Forever Warriors (alum activities): $1,800

Chi

Fellowship

Members of the Chi Fellowship, through the fruits of the Holy Spirit, have provided a single gift of less than $1,000 during the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. With the Greek letter Chi so evident in our churches and schools, your association with this fellowship is a reminder of God’s love, and every gift is significant to Lakeside.

As a thank you for your gift we offer you a subscription to The Legacy, and invite you to attend a fellowship event.

The Impact of Christian Education Grace Seim My future plans have nearly always been to go to Martin Luther College to become certified to teach in the WELS, and I plan to minor in music because I believe that is where I can glorify God best.

Through my years at Lakeside, I’ve noticed that there are plenty of teachers super-passionate about what they teach, and that just inspired me even more to go pursue a life in public ministry. [Senior religion teacher] Pastor Helwig and [band director] Mr. Pufahl helped me when I had doubts; other teachers that especially stand out as passionate about what they do include Mr. Doering [social studies] and Mr. Bauer [science]. They seem to enjoy what they do every day; if I’m only half as passionate about teaching, I think I could go places.

With my trombone in hand, I am part of nearly all parts of the band: Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Summer Marching Band. I also have been on the track team all four years, and I am in the Teens for Christ service group as well as in National Honor Society.

I have really enjoyed my time at Lakeside. Along with many of my classmates, I’m grateful for so many opportunities for us to realize where our gifts lie and how we can best glorify God and increase our understanding of Him no matter what vocation we pursue.

Grace, daughter of Steve and Julie, is a member of St. Stephen, Beaver Dam. She graduated along with 103 others in the LLHS Class of 2021.

Left: Grace is understandably a favorite subject for her dad’s photography hobby! In her track career, she runs 100m and 300m hurdles, high jumps and triple jumps. At right, she leads through experience during band camp before heading to St. Louis with the rest of the Warrior marchers this summer. After four years of faithful participation, Grace was awarded both Outstanding Leadership and Outstanding Musician awards by the LLHS music department this spring.

Rho

Fellowship

Members of the Rho Fellowship, with the Lord’s guidance, have provided multiple gifts totaling less than $1,000 within the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. The Greek letters Rho and Chi form the symbol for Christ. This symbol, displayed in the center of our school seal, serves as a reminder that Christ is the center of our faith at Lakeside. Through this faith we return our blessings to continue His work.

As a thank you for your gifts we offer you membership in the Rho Fellowship, a subscription to The Legacy, and also invite you to attend the fellowship events that have been planned for you.

Elijah Wohling Many Lakeside teachers have encouraged me toward my plan to attend Martin Luther College in the pastor track, and I am grateful for the guidance during these past four years. A few specific people who especially helped me on this path include Pastor Helwig, [Guidance Director] Mr. Rosenau, and [former sophomore religion teacher] Pastor Clark [Schultz].

Lakeside allowed me so many great opportunities.

The band and choir programs, as well as sports, were super fun.

Academic classes were sometimes challenging, but the teachers are always willing to help out with questions on homework or anything. The fact that every day we got to hear God’s Word, whether it be through religion classes or through the daily devotions, was super-duper awesome—it helped me remember what our ultimate goal in life is.

Looking back over my years of high school, I walk away feeling that Lakeside is a school well worth the travel and sacrifice it takes many families. The classes are well-taught, the extras are really fun, and we get to hear God’s saving Word on a daily basis. Thanks for helping me get to experience this.

Fellowship

Members of the Kentro Fellowship have offered a gift or returned a commitment card to Lakeside Lutheran High School of $1,000 or more for the year. The Greek word, Kentro, meaning center, leads us to reflect on Christ as the center of our lives. Through Him we receive these blessings and are encouraged to offer them up to His glory.

“The Nerd” was a treat Warriors Return to the Stage While our traditional Spring Play reception wasn’t able to happen again this year, we were all thrilled to see teens back onstage in a Broadway comedy about debts owed, self-assertion and friendship. We were pleased to gift our Giving Society guests with goodie bags to go with their night “at the theater.” So good to see faces out and about once again!

Located in the lobby of the east school entrance, our Leaves of Legacy tree is a symbol of deep roots bearing much fruit for the future, a recognition of support for quality Christ-centered education.

Individual leaves are engraved with individual and family names and shine like the light these donors have provided for the future of our ministry here at Lakeside Lutheran.

We give thanks to God for those who share our vision and have left a legacy to Lakeside, recently including legacy estate gifts from Marge Schoenherr and Nina Perreira. We celebrate their eternal life in heaven.
