A Message from the Development Director

God so loved...

John 3:16 was the theme chosen for our Grand Event this year and how appropriate given the world as we see it today. Many fear the uncertainty of a virus or how the future will look, but we are assured in God’s words that because He gave His only Son we will have eternal life. There are no maybes or what-ifs in that message. It is clear and to the point, and what a message to share.

The ministry here at Lakeside looks a little different, but our students still hear the message of salvation as they gather regularly for online chapel and in their virtual classrooms. Lakeside may look a little different in the future, perhaps with masked faces and desks six feet apart, but we are certain that this ministry will continue to focus on and declare our Heavenly Father as the ruler of all— a Heavenly Father who has greater plans for all of us that cannot be found this side of heaven.

As so many of you share this same message in your hearts, God blesses Lakeside through you. Your generosity of support is a witness to the message shared in John 3:16, and we are grateful for you.

#GivingTreesday Spring Update Total Giving TREESday proceeds: $14,784.00!

In December, many responded on #GivingTuesday, so we thought many might enjoy hearing what’s been started now that spring is here.

Our groundskeeper, Dan Schultz (‘04), reports that in April, 10 trees were planted either along Woodland Beach Rd. or in front of the school, including (full maturity pic examples in order at bottom): (2) Autumn Blaze Maple (2) Spring Snow Crabapple (non fruit-bearing) (2) Fall Fiesta Maple (1) Norway Spruce (1) Firefall Maple (1) White Spruce (1) Autumn Blaze Pear (no fruit)

Funds raised during Giving Tuesday efforts also provided this year’s mulch for the courtyard and will go toward landscaping outside the atrium, repainting the front school sign and updating the landscaping around it.

Fellowship

Members of the Chi Fellowship, through the fruits of the Holy Spirit, have provided a single gift of less than$1,000 during the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. With the Greek letter Chi so evident in our churches and schools, your association with this fellowship is a reminder of God’s love, and every gift is significant to Lakeside.

The Impact of Christian Education Abbie DiGiovanni While choosing Lakeside always seemed like a good decision, at the time I was just thinking this was going to be the place I would go to school for the next four years. Turns out, I accomplished and participated in much more than I would have ever expected.

I had just moved all the way from Virginia Beach and didn’t know anyone else going into school. All the teachers’ friendliness and the students’ kindness made me feel very welcome, and I ended up making so many amazing, lifelong friends.

Lakeside’s amazing academics have definitely prepared me for my future. Though it was challenging at times, I had great help from teachers and even students who were always really understanding. Besides academics, I have had opportunity to participate in many different activities and even traveled to California with the A Cappella Choir, and Michigan, Arizona, and New York with Operation Go mission trips.

With encouragement from many of my peers, I’ve decided to attend MLC and major in early childhood education. Lakeside encourages and equips so many students to discover their passions, and I’m so glad I decided to come here four short years ago.

Abbie, daughter of Michelle DiGiovanni and Michael DiGiovanni, is a member of St. John, Jefferson. She graduated along with 91 others in the LLHS Class of 2020.

On a summer 2019 Operation GO mission trip (center), she helped host a VBS for Immanuel Lutheran Church in Long Valley, NJ (close to NYC). Abbie also enjoyed great success in Warrior Forensics (right).

Rho

Fellowship

Members of the Rho Fellowship, with the Lord’s guidance, have provided multiple gifts totaling less than $1,000 within the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. The Greek letters Rho and Chi form the symbol for Christ. This symbol, displayed in the center of our school seal, serves as a reminder that Christ is the center of our faith at Lakeside. Through this faith we return our blessings to continue His work.

Kyle Doering

Lakeside was an incredible school to attend for four years. It has had an important impact on my life so far and will continue to in my future.

Lakeside has high expectations for their students both academically and outside of school. The teachers do a great job of helping students to succeed both academically and as young Christian people. As someone who is going to be a teacher someday, I am thankful my teachers were great role models and examples of how to be a good teacher.

Lakeside also offered me great athletic and musical opportunities. I very much enjoyed the National Honor Society and Teens for Christ clubs as well as the Operation Go mission trip program because they gave me opportunities to serve others, not only within Lakeside, but also in the community and across the country.

The greatest opportunity Lakeside provided, however, was the opportunity to hear and study God’s Word every day in order to grow in my faith.

Lakeside has well prepared me for college where I will continue my study of God’s Word at MLC, majoring in elementary and secondary social studies education.

Kyle, son of Matthew and Jill, is a member at St. Paul, Lake Mills. He joins the ranks of Forever Warrior siblings Cassie (‘14, MLC ‘20) and Becca (‘16, MLC ‘20).

Yes, that’s three graduates this spring for the Doering family! 

In his second year in A Cappella, Kyle sang at more than a dozen area churches (center). As a National Honor Society officer (right), he helped plan the school’s first cornhole tournament to raise awareness and funds for teen mental health (w/Christian Family Solutions).

Fellowship

Members of the Kentro Fellowship have offered a gift or returned a commitment card to Lakeside Lutheran High School of $1,000 or more for the year. The Greek word, Kentro, meaning center, leads us to reflect on Christ as the center of our lives. Through Him we receive these blessings and are encouraged to offer them up to His glory.

A grand way to support Christian education

Virtual Gathering via YouTube Live event • Saturday, May 9, 2020 This year’s Grand Event was quite different from our traditional event. Instead of gathering 300 guests on campus, we hosted 432 guests at our online auction and YouTube Live event. Our audience was comprised of alum, community, faculty/staff, family, friends—new and old! Students still played important roles from a safe distance to share their love for Lakeside’s ministry. Donors and bidders stepped up with such tremendous support. We were certainly blessed with great love for Chrisitan education.

The online event featured Videography and STEM robot Fund-a-Need projects, more than 120 silent auction items, more than 100 “buy-it-now” certificates and items including our popular Countryside Jewelry and Ebert’s Greenhouse features, four raffle items, including a handmade full-size quilt, Traeger wood pellet grill, a “Lake Geneva get-away for 23” and a second year of Mangiami Italiano’s “Chef’s Table for 6.” We are so grateful for faithful supporters, donors and sponsors who helped raise over $80,000!

Approximate Net Proceeds Distribution:

Located in the lobby of the east school entrance, our Leaves of Legacy tree is a symbol of deep roots bearing much fruit for the future, a recognition of support for quality Christ-centered education.

Individual leaves are engraved with individual and family names and shine like the light these donors have provided for the future of our ministry here at Lakeside Lutheran.
