Activities Director Kirk DeNoyer reminds our K–8 families: “We are certain the Lakeside Warrior Sport Camp experience will be a positive one for your family. We have assembled a quality group of Christian coaches to work with our campers. These camps allow for quality instruction and competition among fellow Christian athletes and provide a lot of fun at a low cost. We hope you’ll join us in one or more of our camp sessions. Don’t delay in registering for these opportunities—camps are open until they fill, but register by May 8 to guarantee campers goodies such as balls and tees (see camp descriptions online).

Live in the empty tomb!

Daily, we face choices—many of which are not lifechanging events.

However, sometimes our decisions have an eternal impact. One such decision is how to live. Do we live an empty life or do we live in the empty tomb?

The devil, the world, and our sinful flesh tempt us toward the former. The world boasts, “Live life to the fullest!” Some reason that since there is no heaven, live it up on earth now.

King Solomon once lived by this maxim. He tried everything “under the sun” to replace God: wisdom, pleasure, work, and riches. After doing this, he exclaimed, “Meaningless! Meaningless! Says the Teacher. Everything is meaningless.”

(Ecclesiastes 12:8). Life without God produces disillusionment because this world’s promises are hollow and its allure is deceiving. Like Solomon, those who live this way live an empty life.

The alternative is living in the empty tomb. This comes solely by God’s grace through faith in Jesus. This lifestyle looks beyond this world’s temptations to the sure joys of heaven. Believers know that life on this sinful earth will never be perfect. But, they know and believe that their Savior’s empty tomb is their doorway to eternal joy.

The Apostle Paul reinforces this truth in his famous “resurrection chapter:” “When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.’ ‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:54-57) Christians:

Your Lakeside Lutheran is proud to announce and celebrate Warrior achievements, both staff and student. As we enter this final month of the 2015–16 school year, we especially thank God for our strong tradition of facilitating outstanding scholars and achievers, and we commend them on the stewardship of their gifts. Even more treasured is the Lakeside legacy of sharing God’s grace with all our students, every day of their high school lives. God’s continued blessings on our graduates, as they go on to new experiences and lives that glorify their Savior, and may the LORD shower his blessings on faculty and staff as they serve him in their unique ministries.

May brings celebrations of God-given gifts and abilities

ministry anniversaries This spring, the Lakeside Lutheran High School Federation celebrates anniversaries in the public ministry of two of its workers. They are:

• Mr. Todd Hackbarth, 25 years of service: a commemoration service is Sunday, May 22, 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul, Lake Mills. This service coincides with Lakeside Sunday and the year’s final A Cappella worship participation. A reception at St. Paul follows.

• Mr. James Grasby, 40 years of service: the commemoration service will be Sunday, June 12, 10:30 a.m. at St. John, Jefferson. (This date happens to also be Jim and Nancy Grasby’s 40th wedding anniversary!) A reception will be held at Lakeside that afternoon from 3-5 p.m.

Members of the federation are cordially invited to attend these services as we give thanks to God for his goodness to these two servants. Any correspondence for these workers may be directed to the Lakeside office via mail or e-mail. call news Pastor Clark Schultz shared in April: “Friends, I am humbled to announce that the congregation at St. Marcus in Milwaukee has called me to be their outreach pastor.

Please keep Kristin and our family in your prayers on where the Lord will best use my gifts to serve Him.” Pray for him as he holds both this and his call to LLHS teens.

Three men accepted calls from the Lakeside General Board earlier this year: Mr. Cameron Ausen will serve a full‐time, permanent Social Studies call.

Mr. Gerry Walta accepted a one‐year, part‐time call to continue his German classroom instruction, with no homeroom or coaching duties.

Mr. Andrew Willems will serve as Technology Director and Tech and Career Ed faculty. He comes to us from Shoreland Lutheran High School.

Class of 2016 prepares to join ranks of forever Warriors David Wilson of St. John, Pardeeville was awarded a $5,000 Herb Kohl Initiative Scholarship, awarded this year to 83 Wisconsin seniors. The scholarship recognizes those demonstrating a high level of motivation to achieve, who have shown strong promise for achieving success in college and beyond, and have overcome significant personal obstacles or adversity. athletic scholarships for two lady warrior b-ball players Two seniors have received scholarships to attend college as basketball student-athletes.

Congratulations to Abby Monis of St. Matthew, Oconomowoc, who intends to play forward at Maryville University in St. Louis, and to Meghan Pingel of Peace, Sun Prairie, who signed to play point/combo guard at UW-Green Bay. merit scholarship finalist The National Merit Scholar program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. Lakeside is pleased to announce that Emma Krszjzaniek of Holy Cross, Madison, advanced past the 50,000 commended (of 1.5 million participants), past the 16,000 semi-finalists, to the rank of finalist—an outstanding achievement that places her with fewer than 1% of entrants. class of 2016 academic top ten Lakeside is pleased to name its academic top ten for the class of 2016, the first graduating year where the differentiated GPA has been in effect for four years.

Valedictorian Elias Lipasti of St. John, Newville earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. Salutatorian is Clarissa Keller of St. Andrew, Middleton.
