Partners in Ministry:

for Student Assistance

Our goal in this focus is $200,000. While our families—through the support of our Federation—are responsible for only half the cost of a Lakeside education, assisting those who need additional help to make Christian education a reality must always be a top priority. Last year, 18% of our students were blessed with a shared $87K in assistance. You can help reach out to the next generation of our WELS congregations. Please join Dec. 2...... Fed eration Connection

Trending: #quizyourself #Heb13:8 The newest trend in social media is the self-analysis quiz, consisting of preference questions through which people draw conclusions about themselves. Some quizzes are light-hearted: which cartoon character are you? Others are morbid: how did you die in your past life? Still others offer educated guesses about the quiz-taker: what’s your favorite decade? Experts say that people crave these quizzes because they want to “know about themselves.” PRINCIPAL’S PEN Each day, people ask, Who am I? From where did I come? What will happen to me when I die? It is human nature to want to know the answers to life’s timeless questions. By themselves, people are unable answer such things. Even the natural knowledge of God instilled in all humans falls short of providing the answers to these questions. On the other hand, believers know that God’s Word (the revealed knowledge of God) is the exclusive source of absolute truth. Scripture answers life’s questions and provides principles for nearly everything else. The knowledge that humans crave about themselves, their origin, and their fate is expressly Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. revealed in the Bible. The Bible exposes human sinfulness as abject failure to meet God’s holy standards— not a mere weakness or shortcoming. It reveals the sinner’s eternally lost state with no means or hope self-redemption. After the law affects this realization, the gospel speaks the sweet message of God’s great love for sinners. It proclaims a God who sacrificed his one and only Son as the full payment for sin, requiring no further explanation, no human initiative, no human invention. It is simply a matter of faith—God-worked faith that receives and believes this message. It is God’s gracious work through his Son, Jesus. Who are you? From where did you come? What will happen to you when you die? When it comes to the important questions of life, don’t depend on man-made guesses. Rather, fully rely on the timeless and changeless Word of God. It alone answers life’s difficult questions. Mr. Jim Grasby is principal of LLHS. Reach him at 920.648.2321 x 2204 or jgrasby@llhs.org
