Call news
On June 17, Mr. Glen Pufahl, currently a teacher and music coordinator at St. John Lutheran School in Waterloo, accepted the call to be our Band Director. We at Lakeside thank God for providing Glen as an important faculty member within our high school ministry. Lakeside is willing to assist the leadership of St. John in whatever ways that leadership sees fit to meet its ministry needs for the upcoming school year. Mr. David Fenske, Lakeside’s Band Director of 33 years, announced his resignation from the teaching ministry this past spring, prompted by health issues that are not life threatening.

• The Warrior Band will record a daily update on the Lakeside Phone System so those interested can check on the day’s activities from July 1–14. They also plan to use it to alert schedule changes, and especially the estimated time of arrival home on July 14th. To listen to the daily message, call 920-648-3215 and press 3. • Strength and speed building through weight lifting is an essential part of our athletic program. Proper technique and safety are critical, so the athletic department offers incoming students opportunities to develop strength and conditioning at Lakeside mornings and evenings during the summer. If you would like info on attending, ask for AD Paul Bauer when you call the school office. • Please note that there is no Ladies’ Guild meeting in July. Lakeside Ladies’ Guild is open to all women interested in preserving the Lakeside mission, through service projects, education and fellowship. August is the perfect time to join!

America may well be the most economically blest nation in history Our gross domestic product surpasses the next two largest economies – China and Japan – combined America’s economy produces more than the combined economies of the 47 poorest countries whose populations total 53% of the world’s population In 2000, America’s per capita income was nearly four times greater than the world’s average per capita income The average American earns about 100 times more than the average third-world citizen
Certainly, “there’s no place like home.” During summer, Memorial Day, D-Day, Flag Day and the 4th of July all remind us of the sacrifices made by previous generations of Americans.
Many died to give us the lifestyle that we enjoy today. Their personal sacrifices also guarantee us one more blessing: freedom. We have freedom to travel, freedom of speech and freedom to worship. Among these blessings, freedom to worship is often overlooked. We may not always appreciate our government and its elected officials. We believe sometimes that their decisions and actions are flawed when our self-interests are
