Introduction
Welcome to the 2026 edition of Llewellyn’s Sun Sign Book! This book offers a road map to your year ahead, from the major adventures and big-picture changes to the ups and downs of everyday life. This year is full of big planetary shifts, with unpredictable Uranus finally leaving stable Taurus to enter mercurial Gemini, and both Saturn and Neptune entering pioneering Aries. With transformative Pluto moving through revolutionary Aquarius, one thing is for sure: change is in the cards. How will all of this change play out in your life? It depends! Astrology isn’t one-size-fits-all; the same planetary events might affect all of us in different ways.
In this book, you’ll find descriptions of each sign, overall forecasts for your year ahead, and monthly forecasts that include noteworthy astrological events, New and Full Moons, and a few days that are likely to be especially rewarding or challenging for you. These forecasts won’t cover every single thing that might happen in 2026—you’re much more than just your Sun sign. (You have a Moon sign, Mercury sign, Venus sign, and more!) If you’re looking for specific information, a personal reading tailored to your unique birth chart is your best bet. But if you’re looking for some general guidance for

your year ahead, you just might be surprised at how useful a Sun sign forecast can be.
What you won’t find in this book are pie-in-the-sky promises, dire warnings, or lists of ironclad dos and don’ts. Think of this not as a book of rules you have to follow, but as a helpful guide to the astrological landscape you’re about to move through in 2026. Some of it will be lovely and exciting, and some of it may be stressful, but the outcomes aren’t written in stone. Astrology is about possibilities, and it’s up to you to decide what you’ll do with them.

Strengths and Gifts
Aries, you’re number one! The first sign of the astrological year, that is. The Sun enters your sign with the spring equinox: it’s a time of new beginnings, and this fresh, can-do energy shows up abundantly in your personality. You’re one of the boldest, most assertive signs in the zodiac, never afraid to take charge, take action, or take a big risk.
You understand, Aries, that life is what you make it. Nobody will catch you sitting around waiting for the phone to ring—you’d rather be the one to take the initiative. This means you love starting new things, from projects at work to hobbies to relationships. While some people are scared of asking “stupid” questions or looking silly in new surroundings, you’re happy to approach life with a beginner’s mindset. After all, everyone has to start somewhere! You understand that sometimes, the best way to learn is to dive in the deep end! You’re not too proud to start from scratch.
Like your symbol, the ram, you’re courageous and ready to meet conflict head-on. In fact, you might be a little too confrontational for some people’s tastes, but really, you’re not aggressive—just assertive. You’d rather get everything out in the open than dance around the issue. You understand that the more you can actually talk about issues—even if it’s uncomfortable—the more easily misunderstandings can be put to bed. This means that it’s rare for you to nurse grudges or let resentments simmer. If you’ve got a problem, you’ll deal with it directly.
Your straightforward nature means that you’re not one to wallow in your problems or sit around feeling sorry for yourself. If you’re feeling bored with your life, trapped in your career, or unhappy in a relationship, you won’t hesitate to act decisively to make a change. You’re probably not the most
careful planner in the world, but that’s not always a bad thing. Where others get stuck weighing their options forever or waiting until conditions are perfect before they’ll make their move, you’re too impatient for that! This means you make your share of mistakes—who doesn’t?—but you know how to dust yourself off and keep moving. As far as you’re concerned, it’s not your job to do everything perfectly. Life is for living.
Friendship and Love
You’re a classic fire sign, Aries, with a natural passion that makes you incredibly attractive to friends and romantic partners alike. With you around, life is never boring! You’re full of energy, ideas, big plans—you make anything seem possible. You’re warm and effusive with the people you care about, and with new people, you’re not scared to make the first move. (If anything, you love the thrill of the chase.) With so many people hesitant to put themselves out there or express their true feelings, your bold straightforwardness can be a real breath of fresh air. Mars, Aries’s ruling planet, is best known in astrology as the planet of war and aggression. But it’s also the planet of lust and our animal drives. This means that your romantic relationships tend to be hot, passionate, and very physical. If the sexual spark isn’t there, forget it. You’re probably not one who wants to sit around and talk on a first date. You’d rather do something,
The Year Ahead for Taurus
The Eclipses
In the story of your year, eclipses tend to mark pivotal plot points: moments of surprise, transition, and necessary (if unexpected) change. Sometimes they feel important in the moment, and other times you don’t fully realize their impact until much later, but either way, it’s useful to pay attention to them. In 2026 you’ll experience four eclipses: a solar eclipse in Aquarius, a lunar eclipse in Virgo, a solar eclipse in Leo, and a lunar eclipse in Pisces.
The Aquarius solar eclipse arrives first, on February 17th. Under this eclipse, there’s a good chance you’ll experience an opportunity for change in your professional life. It’s not necessarily the best time for goal-setting—eclipse energy can be a bit too chaotic for that—but simply for listening to your heart, staying open to change, and paying attention to any unexpected opportunities that may present themselves.
The Virgo lunar eclipse arrives two weeks later, on March 3rd. This eclipse is likely to bring romantic shake-ups, even drama. Relationships that aren’t right for you are likely to face challenges or even come to an end under this eclipse. Try not to fight this change. You deserve romance that makes you feel good, and you don’t have to settle for less.
Next, the solar eclipse in Leo arrives on August 12th. Under this eclipse, you’ll probably be spurred to make necessary changes to family relationships or to your living space. The longer you’ve been putting off what you know you need to do, the more strongly the universe will push you to finally act.
The year’s final eclipse is the Pisces lunar eclipse, happening early in the morning on August 28th. This eclipse highlights any recurring tensions or simmering dramas in your friend group or community. This is no time to ignore the problem. By being honest and up-front about what’s going on, you can find your way to a solution.
The Big Picture
To get an idea about your personality, moods, and day-to-day experiences, look to the personal planets of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. To learn about the larger trends and themes in your life as a whole, though, it’s often most helpful to turn to the outer planets of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
This year, Jupiter, planet of growth and luck, will spend time in Cancer and Leo. It starts 2026 in Cancer, where it’s been since June of 2025. While it moves through this intuitive and emotionally intelligent water sign, one of the best things you can do for yourself is simply spend time with others. The more different types of people you interact with, and the more you share your
January
The year starts off with the Sun, Venus, and Mars all in Capricorn, with Mercury joining them in the afternoon on the 1st. You’re probably in a thoughtful frame of mind now; it’s an excellent time to think strategically (not haphazardly or emotionally!) about the year ahead. Then, between the 17th and 23rd, all of these planets move into idealistic Aquarius. This is likely to be one of the most adventurous periods of the year for you, and you’re hungry now for meaning and purpose. Be brave—take a risk or two!
Moon Cycles
The year’s first Full Moon happens on January 3rd in Cancer. It could stir up money issues—or it could provide a solution to financial issues you’ve been experiencing lately. Don’t be afraid to spend money on things that will seriously improve your quality of life.
On the 18th, the Capricorn New Moon asks you to rethink how you use or manage any shared resources, like a shared household budget. It could be a good time to ask for support from somebody who cares about you or to offer support to a friend in need.
Power Days
The 7th is an overall lucky day for you: you have the power to set the tone of your relationships today, so make use of it. It’s possible to put even the toughest conflicts to bed on the 17th. Put your nose to the grindstone on the 20th, and you’ll make genuinely incredible progress.
Days to Watch For
You’ll probably be super sensitive on the 8th: be gentle with yourself, and especially avoid getting caught up in gossip. Other people’s opinions could weigh heavily on you on the 23rd: take feedback on board, but set boundaries, too. Circumstances may seem much worse than they really are on the 29th.
February
Mercury enters Pisces on the 6th, Venus on the 10th, and the Sun on the 18th. With all of these planets in one of the wisest signs in the zodiac, others are likely to turn to you for advice and even to heap extra responsibilities onto your plate. Trust that you have what it takes to get the job done. Then on the 26th, the first of the year’s Mercury retrogrades begins. Do yourself a favor and avoid scheduling important presentations or negotiations during this time if you can.

The Birth Chart
Natal astrology is done by freeze-framing the solar system at the moment of your birth, from the perspective of your birthplace. This creates a circular map that looks like a pie sliced into twelve pieces. It shows where every heavenly body we’re capable of seeing was located when you arrived. Basically, it’s your astrological tool kit, and it can’t be replicated more than once in thousands of years. This is why we astrologers are so darn insistent about the need for you to either dig your birth certificate out of that box of ancient paperwork in the back of your closet or get a copy of it from the county clerk’s office where you were born. (This USAGov website has links to the vital records office of every state and territory: https://www.usa.gov/birth-certificate.)
Natal astrology, as interpreted by a professional astrologer, is done exactly and precisely for you and no one else. It shows your inherent traits, talents, and challenges. Comparing the planets’ current positions to their positions in your birth chart allows astrologers to help you understand the celestial trends at work in your life—and most importantly, how you can put each astrological energy to a positive, productive use.
Let’s take a look at the four main components of every astrology chart:
Planets: The planets represent the needs or urges we all experience once we hop off the Evolutionary
Express and take up residence inside a human body. For example, the Sun is your urge to shine and be creative, the Moon is your need to express emotions, Mercury is in charge of how you communicate and navigate, and Venus is all about who and what you love—and, more importantly, how you love.
Signs: The sign a planet occupies is like a costume or uniform. It describes how you’ll go about acting on your needs and urges. If you have Venus in fiery, impulsive Aries, for example, and you’re attracted to a complete stranger across the room, you won’t wait for them to come to you. You’ll walk over and introduce yourself the second the urge strikes you. Venus in intense, sexy Scorpio, however? Well, that’s a different story. In this case, you’ll keep looking at a prospective beloved until they finally give in, cross the room, and beg you to explain why you’ve been staring at them for the past couple of hours.
Houses: The houses represent the different sides of our personalities that emerge in different life situations. For example, think of how very different you act when you’re with an authority figure as opposed to how you act with a lover or when you’re with your BFF.
Aspects: The aspects describe the distance from one planet to another in a geometric angle. If you were
born when Mercury was 90 degrees from Jupiter, for example, this aspect is called a square. Each unique angular relationship causes the planets involved to interact differently.
The Planets
The planets represent energy sources. The Sun is our source of creativity, the Moon is our emotional warehouse, and Venus describes who and what we love and are attracted to—not to mention why and how we go about getting it and keeping it.
Sun
The Sun is the boss in your chart. It represents your life’s mission—what will give you joy, keep you young, and never fail to arouse your curiosity. Oddly enough, you weren’t born knowing the qualities of the sign the Sun was in when you were born. You’re here to learn the traits, talents, and characteristics of the sign you chose—and rest assured, each of the twelve is its own marvelous adventure! Since the Sun is the Big Boss, all of the other planets, including the Moon, are the Sun’s staff, all there to help the boss by helping you master your particular area of expertise. Back in the day, the words from a song in a recruitment commercial struck me as a perfect way to describe our Sun’s quest: “Be all that you can be. Keep on reaching. Keep on growing. Find your future.” The accompanying music was energizing,
robust, and exciting, full of anticipation and eagerness. When you feel enthused, motivated, and stimulated, that’s your Sun letting you know you’re on the right path.
Moon
If you want to understand this lovely silver orb, go outside when the Moon is nice and full, find yourself a comfy perch, sit still, and have a nice long look at it. The Moon inspires us to dream, wish, and sigh, to reminisce, ruminate, and remember. It’s the Queen of Emotions, the astrological purveyor of feelings and reactions. In your natal chart, the condition of the Moon— that is, the sign and house it’s in and the connections it makes with your other planets—shows how you’ll deal with whatever life tosses your way: how you’ll respond, how you’ll cope, and how you’ll pull it all together to move on after a crisis. It’s where your instincts and hunches come from, and the source of every gut feeling and premonition. The Moon describes your childhood home, your relationship with your mother, your attitude toward childbearing and children in general, and what you’re looking for in a home. It shows what makes you feel safe, warm, comfy, and loved. On a daily basis, the Moon describes the collective mood.
Qualities: The three qualities—cardinal, fixed, and mutable—describe a sign’s energy. Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) are tailor-made for beginnings. Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) are solid, just as they sound, and are quite determined to finish what they start. Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) are flexible and accommodating.

Aries
Aries is ruled by Mars and is cardinal fire—red-hot, impulsive, and ready to go. Aries planets are not known for their patience, and they ignore obstacles, choosing instead to focus on the shortest distance between where they are and where they want to be. Planets in Aries are brave, impetuous, and direct. Aries planets are often very good at initiating projects. They are not, however, as eager to finish, so they will leave projects undone. Aries planets need physical outlets for their considerable Mars-powered energy, or else their need for action can turn to stress. Exercise, hard work, and competition are food for Aries energy.

Taurus
Taurus, the fixed earth sign, has endless patience that turns your Taurus planets into a solid force to be reckoned with. Taurus folks never, ever quit. Their reputation for stubbornness is earned. They’re responsible, reliable, honest as they come, practical, and endowed with a stick-to-it attitude other planets envy. They’re not afraid to work hard. Since Taurus is ruled by Venus, it’s not surprising to find that these people are sensual and luxuryloving, too. They love to be spoiled with the best—good food, fine wine, or even a Renoir painting. They need peace and quiet and don’t like their schedules to be disrupted, but they may need a reminder that comfortable habits can become ruts.
Gemini
This sign is famous for its love of new experiences as well as its role as a communicator. Gemini is mutable air, which translates to changing your mind, so expect your Gemini planets to be entertaining and versatile. This sign knows a bit about everything. Gemini planets usually display at least two distinct sides to their personalities, are changeable and even fickle at times, and are wonderfully curious. This sign is ruled by Mercury, so if what you’re doing involves talking, writing, or working with hand-eye coordination, your Gemini planets will love it. Mercury also rules short trips, so any planet in Gemini is an expert at making its way around the neighborhood in record time.
Cancer
Cancer is cardinal water, so it’s good at beginning things, like emotions and families. It’s also the most privacy-oriented sign. Cancer types are emotionally vulnerable, sensitive, and easily hurt. They need safe “nests” to return to when the world gets to be too much. Cancer types say “I love you” by tending to your need for food, warmth, or a place to sleep. The problem is that they can become needy, dependent, or unable to function unless they feel someone or something needs them. Cancer rules the home and family. It’s also in charge of emotions, so expect a Cancer to operate from their gut most of the time.
Leo
This fixed sign is part of the fire family. As fires go, think of Leo planets as bonfires of energy—and just try to tear your eyes away. As the Lion of the zodiac, Leo cares very much about their familial pride—and about their personal pride. Sun-ruled Leo wants to shine and be noticed. Natural performers, people of this sign are into drama and attract attention even when they don’t necessarily want it. Occasionally your Leo friends may be touchy and high-maintenance. Still, they are generous to a fault. Leo appreciates attention and praise with lavish compliments, lovely gifts, and creative outings designed to amaze and delight. Leo’s specialties are having fun, entertaining, and making big entrances and exits.
Virgo
Virgo is called “picky” and “critical,” but there is another side to this sign. More than anything, Virgo delights in helping, and since this is a mutable earth sign, it’s willing to adapt to any task. Although it’s true that Virgo is born with an automatic faultfinder, it’s Mercury-ruled, and it’s the sign with the keenest eye of all for details. When Virgo’s eye for detail combines with the ability to fix almost anything, you have a troubleshooter extraordinaire. This sign practices discrimination—analyzing, critiquing, and suggesting remedies to potential problems. Virgo is also wonderful at making lists, agendas, and schedules. Keep your Virgo planets happy by keeping them busy.
Libra
Libra is affiliated with balance and harmony, both of which require an entity to give and take equally—no easy task. But no sign is more charming and sociable, or more able to coax the same qualities out of others. Libra is cardinal air, so it wants to start something that’s intellectual in nature, like a conversation. Venus-ruled Libra planets are experts at behavior that is pleasing to others, so they specialize in manners, courtesy, and small talk. They don’t want to be alone, and because they’re gifted with the ability to pacify, they may sell out their own needs or the truth to buy peace and companionship. Their real work is to see both sides of a situation, weigh the options, and maintain their inner balance by remaining honest.
Since the signs on the house cusps are determined by the time of day you were born, it’s important to have an accurate birth time when having a chart erected.
First House and Your Rising Sign
The first house shows the sign that was ascending over the horizon at the moment you were born. Let’s think again of your chart as one big house and of the twelve houses as rooms. The first house is your symbolic front door. It relates to the first impression you make on people. The sign on this house cusp (a.k.a. the rising sign, or Ascendant) describes the way you dress, move, and adorn yourself, and the overall condition of your body and your health.
Second House
The second house shows how you handle the possessions you hold dear. That goes for money, objects, and qualities you value in yourself and in others. This house shows how you take care of what you have and what you buy for yourself, and the amount of money you earn. The second house shows what you’re willing to do for money, too, and it’s also a description of your self-esteem.
Third House
The third house corresponds to your neighborhood, including the bank, post office, and the gym where you work out. This is the side of you that performs routine tasks without much con-
scious thought. This house also refers to childhood and grammar school, and it shows your relationships with siblings and your communication style. It’s also related to short-distance travel.
Fourth House
The fourth house is your symbolic foundation and describes your childhood home, your family of origin, and the parent who nurtured you. Here is where you’ll find the part of you that decorates and maintains your nest. It describes what your home in the adult world will be like and how much privacy you’ll need. It deals with real estate matters. Most importantly, this house contains the emotional warehouse of memories you operate from subconsciously.
Fifth House
The fifth house reflects the side of you that’s reserved for play, that only comes out when work is done and it’s time to party and be entertained. This is the charming, creative, delightful side of you. This house is where your hobbies, interests, and playmates are found. If it gives you joy, it’s described here. Your fifth house shines when you are creative, and it allows you to see a bit of yourself in those creations—anything from a child’s smile to a piece of art. This house is also connected to speculation and gambling.
