Llansantfriadd Village FC heads south to the Broadway, where they will receive a warm welcome; however, friendly exchanges will be postponed until after the final whistle.
O U R T E A M
O N T H E C O V E R
Welcome to the Broadway for an important league tie against Llansaintffraid Village.
Since I last wrote we have picked up our first league win in a hard fought mid week encounter against Bow Street where a solitary goal from Kieran McCarley was enough to see us through to a 1-0 victory.
“the most important thing for me is that the players who take to the pitch this afternoon, appreciate the importance of the game and are prepared to roll up their sleeves and fight for the shirt and every ball”
We then made the journey to old rivals, Llanfair where we were defeated by the same score line in what was a game where the lads put in a good away performance in terms of possession and chances but a lack of cutting edge and poor decision making in the final third ultimately cost us.
Today’s game represents a bottom half of the table clash and it is absolutely critical that we improve on our home form and pick up points against the sides around us. The task is not going to be made any easier with eight unavailable for selection but the most important thing for me is that the players who take to the pitch this afternoon, appreciate the importance of the game and are prepared to roll up their sleeves and fight for the shirt and every ball.
As I have said to the lads, there is always something to play for in football and whether you are riding high at the top of the league or involved in a fight to stay in it, the approach to every game has to be the same. Whilst we are only six games in to a thirty game league campaign, we cannot leave it too long to make things happen. These players have not been playing badly, but we have not been getting results and so a little bit more responsibility and belief is required.
Finally, a special shout out to one of our most loyal supporters who will not be with us today in Matthew Evans who is enjoying his 40th Wedding Anniversary in Italy, massive congratulations Mr & Mrs Evans!! Please get behind the lads and show your support as it really does make the difference and hopefully Matthew will be able to raise a glass of Aperol this evening for a Spamen victory.

Llandrindod Wells FC was formed in November 1883, with five players from the Lewis family taking the field. In 189798 the club won the South Wales Junior Cup, with an exciting crop of players.
Llandrindod Wells FC 1883-84
One of the early stars was Jeff Jones who played for Llandrindod Wells from 1904-1906 before signing for Aston Villa, going on to win 3 caps for Wales. He then played for Northern Nomads before returning to play for Llandrindod Wells until the outbreak of WW1, where he joined the Medical Corps. In 1918 he was reported as missing in action but had been captured by the Germans and survived to live to the ripe old age of 90. Carl Robinson is another former player, who went on to play 52 times for Wales, as well as make over 300 league appearances for Wolves, Sunderland and Norwich.
In the last 40 years Llandrindod Wells have played predominately in the MidWales League apart from 5 seasons in the Cymru Alliance (Tier 2). During the 1960's, and arguably one of the most successful era's for the Club, we lifted the Mid Wales League on two occasions in 1961-62 & 1966-67 and finished runners up on two other occasions being 1962-63 and 196465. 1993-94 saw the Club finish runners up in the Mid-Wales League for a third time to win promotion to the Cymru Alliance, where they finished in 7th place in their first season. They played a further three seasons at this level before dropping back into the Mid -Wales League in 1997-98.
In the 2009/10 season, Llandrindod won the Emrys Morgan Cup by defeating Montgomery 1-0. They also won the Radnorshire Cup in the 2010-2011 and 2011/12 seasons by beating Hay St Marys and Knighton Town, respectively.
In 2012–2013, Llandrindod had a very good start to their Mid Wales League Division 2 campaign, going undefeated in the first 10 games, but the side fell away after Christmas and finished the season as runners up to eventual winners, Llanfair United. Both clubs were promoted to the Mid-Wales League Division 1 for the 2013–14 season.
The 2013–14 season was to be even better for Llandrindod when they won the first 16 games of the season. This included an opening day 8–1 away win at local rivals Builth Wells and a further win away at Montgomery 13–0. The team went on to maintain their form enough over the season to win the Mid-Wales League Division 1, finishing with 22 wins and a draw out of 28 games.
The team remained undefeated at home in the league, only dropping 2 points. The season culminated in a must-win last day victory over Montgomery Town with a 3–1 scoreline securing the league and in the process took the team to 101 goals, whilst also conceding just 27 goals. Llandrindod Wells had won the league for the first time in 47 years. Of the whole squad, at least 15 players had played at junior and youth level for the club.
After ground improvements in 2014, Llandrindod Wells met criteria for Tier 2 football in the 2014/2015 season. They spent four seasons in Mid-Wales League Division 1, achieving a 6th place finish in 2015-16. In the 2019-20 season, they were poised for a title challenge but finished as runners-up due to the pandemic.
On the return to football following the pandemic, Llandrindod took up a place in the Ardal South East Division following the FAW's restructure of the Tier Three leagues and finished a creditable 8th in 2021/22. We were then moved into the Ardal North East last season and after a slow start ended up finishing 7th in the league and had a memorable FAW Trophy run which saw us make it to the SemiFinals, only to lose narrowly to eventual winners, Trethomas Bluebirds.

LLANANTFFRAID VILLAGE FC
Llansantffraid Village Football Club, founded in 2007, represents a continuation of the rich footballing tradition in the village of Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain, which dates back to the late 19th century. The village's footballing heritage was notably marked in 1996 when Llansantffraid Football Club, the precursor to the modern club, made history by becoming the smallest team ever to win the Welsh Cup. This remarkable achievement was followed by the club's rebranding as Total Network Solutions F.C. in 1997. Under this new name, the club enjoyed further success, capturing another Welsh Cup in 2005 and securing four Welsh Premier League titles between 2000 and 2007.
In 2003, TNS merged with Oswestry Town and relocated to Oswestry's Park Hall in 2007, leaving behind their historic ground at Treflan. This move prompted the creation of Llansantffraid Village Football Club to ensure that local football remained active and that Treflan continued to serve as a football venue for the village. The newly established club began its journey at the bottom of the Welsh football pyramid but swiftly achieved back-to-back promotions, reaching the Mid Wales League within two seasons. The 2009-10 season saw
. the team finish in eighth place and advance to the second round of the Welsh Cup. Despite these early successes, the club faced fluctuating performances in subsequent seasons, with league placements ranging from seventh to eleventh. An exodus of players led to the club's withdrawal from the Mid Wales League before the 2015-16 season. However, the club made a comeback in the following year, rejoining the league in Division Two.

MANAGEMENT TEAM
Geoff Morgan-Hogg - I began coaching the Llandod Tweenies (U5s), taking the team through to U16s. Many of those players joined the Reserves and made their senior debut. I decided to continue coaching them into their senior years.
Jason Coles -After 4 seasons at Rhayader, the reserves manager stepped down in 2014 after our 3rd league title and 2nd league cup win I took over as manager for 2 seasons before rejoining Llandod in 2016. I played for 2 more seasons, then Ben (BJ) Jones and I managed the reserves for one season.
JASON COLES
Jason has been a part of the club for several years, both as a player and a manager, demonstrating his extensive knowledge and experience in the game. His struggles off the pitch are a testament to his character and serve as an inspiration to the team he now supports as assistant manager.

NICHOLLS SHAUN
Our Skipper, Shaun, has been a part of our team since he was young, having played in blue and white for the seniors at just 16 years old. Known for his straightforward defending, Shaun has experienced the team's highest highs and lowest lows. No matter our standing, we can always count on him to give his all and strive for greatness, both on and off the pitch. While Tony Adams is famously known as ‘Mr. Arsenal,’ we might just have our very own ‘Mr. Llandod’ showcasing his loyalty to the club. When Shaun isn’t busy defending and leading his back line, you’ll likely find him in the opponent's penalty box, scoring powerful headers. He is renowned for his accuracy in heading, both in attack and defense. His presence on the field often brings an air of confidence to the team, inspiring his teammates to push beyond their limits. Off the field, Shaun is equally influential, mentoring younger players and instilling in them the values of hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship that he embodies so well.
