Bolhapalota is the riskiest place to go for addicts of clothes and knick-knacks. Этот первый исторический и значимый мост столицы, на заднем плане с удивительном видом Будайской Крепости, привлекает и манит огромное количество туристов. По инициативе графа Иштвана Сечени мост был построен по проекту инженера Вильяма Терней Кларка под руководством инженера Адама Кларка в 1839-1849 годы. Во время II Мировой войны и этот мост через Дунай был разрушен, но в 1949 году, в честь 100 летней годовщины со дня его возведения, был восстановлен в первоначальной виде. With a vast array of sites, museums, as well as streets, squares, restaurants, cafés and stores with a unique atmosphere, Buda Castle and the whole of the Castle District are among the most well-known and frequently visited tourist attractions of Budapest. The Royal Palace, where many battles and wars took place from the 13th century, is a symbol for Hungary. With the Buda Castle in the background, the Hungarian capital’s first bridge, now a monument, is a fascinating spectacle that has attracted many tourists to Budapest. The bridge was built upon the request of Count István Széchenyi by designer William Tierney Clark and engineer Adam Clark between 1839 and 1849. Like many other Danube bridges, the Chain Bridge did not survive the ravages of the World War, so it had to be rebuilt in 1949, marking the centenary of its first opening. Visitors also have the opportunity to walk onto the top of the tunnel located on the Buda side, offering a marvellous view of the Danube, its bridges as well as the nicest parts of Pest. PARLIAMENT. The Parliament, built in Neo-Gothic style and located on the bank of the Danube, serves as the permanent seat of the National Assembly. The building complex, the biggest of its kind in Hungary, was erected between 1884 and 1904 on the plans of Imre Steindl. The building has 691 rooms, and it is 268 metres long and the dome 96 metres high. Since 2000, the Hungarian coronation symbols – St. Stephen’s crown, the sceptre, the orb and the Renaissance sword – have been on display in the Parliament. The Parlaiment has a brand new Visitor Center with café and in front of the building there is a beautiful park for walking. In the Visitor Center you can buy your ticket to visit the Parliament inside. ST. STEPHEN’S BASILICA. St. Stephen’s Basilica, or Lipót City Parish Church, is one of the most significant ecclesiastical buildings of Hungary as well as a major tourist attraction of the capital. It serves as the main site of worship for St. Stephen. The Basilica is named after St. Stephen, the founder of the Kingdom of Hungary, whose incorruptible right hand, known as the Holy Right, is kept here as a relic. It is the largest church in Budapest, the dome of which can be seen from all parts of the city. The Classicist Basilica was built between 1851 and 1905. Famous masterpieces in the church include statues by Alajos Stróbl as well as a painting of St. Stephen offering his country to the Virgin Mary by Gyula Benczúr. The dome of the building offers a wonderful 360° view of the Budapest.

HERO’S SQUARE. Located at the end of Andrássy Avenue, Heroes’ Square is the entrance to the City Park as well as one of the most spectacular venues in Budapest. The three main sites of the square include the Hall of Art, built in 1896, the Museum of Fine Arts, inaugurated in December 1906, as well as the Millennium Monument, linking both buildings visually. The latter includes a 36-metre central column, topped by a statue of the archangel Gabriel who holds the Holy Crown as well as a two-barred apostolic cross, the same way as the founder of the Kingdom of Hungary, St. Stephen did in his sleep according to a legend. The crescent-shaped monument was built in Eclectic style. The semi-circular arcades of the monument on the left and right-hand side each hold bronze statues of seven outstanding personalities of Hungarian history. GELLÉRT HILL AND THE CITADEL. The Gellért Hill is the capital’s popular excursion place. The Citadel can also be found here. It used to be a fortress, which was erected in 1854 by the Habsburg emperors after overcoming the Hungarian army in the revolution of 1848-49. A unique Budapest panorama, which is part of the world heritage, can be also enjoyed here. Other sights on the hill: the sculpture of the bishop St. Gellért, the St. Gellért Cliff Church and the Liberty Statue. ■

Это самый красивый парк столицы, раскинувшийся между мостами Маргит и Арпад, имеющий длину 2,8 км. На территории острова расположены средневековые сакральные памятники архитектуры, современные дорожки skywalk, водонапорная башня, находящаяся под охраной UNESCO, известный музыкальный фонтан, рядом с ним пляж, беговая дорожка, гостиница, рестораны и многочисленные спортивные и развлекательные площадки. Автобус – амфибия. В один миг после наземной прогулки можем оказаться в реке благодаря одному из самого зрелищного средства передвижения в Будапеште. Это автобус – амфибия RiverRide. Пешеходы, вначале с подозрением поглядывавшие на странный автобус, к нему уже привыкли. Маршрут его пролегает мимо Парламента, пл. Героев, театра Оперы, Будайской Крепости, с отправлением от здания Венгерской Академии Наук (пл. Сечени). Идеальные трамвайные прогулки. Для ознакомления с набережной по обе стороны реки надо отправиться на трамвае 19 и 41 со стороны Буды от пл. Баттяни и на трамвае номер 2 с пл. Ясаи Мари в Пеште. Потратив на каждую поездку 40 минут, мы проедем по Будапешту до конечной остановки трех маршрутов. На трамвае номер 2 мы попадем на когда-то очень застроенную заводами ул. Шорокшари, на трамвае 19 доедем до вокзала Келенфолд, откуда отправляются поезда в сторону озер Веленце и Балатон, а на трамвае 41 мы попадем в дикий лес Камараэрдо. После этих приключений имеет смысл сесть на трамваи 4 и 6 и сделать несколько удивительных маршрутных кругов и в прямом смысле слова объехать город кругом. Одной из конечных остановок трамвая номер 6 является пл. Мориц Жигмонд (вблизи моста Петофи на будайской стороне) и трамвая номер 4 ул. Фехервари. Другой конечной остановкой трамваев является пл. Сел Калман. К ней подходят оба трамвая, проезжая через все участки городского кольца (Йожеф, Эржебет, Терез, Сент Иштван и Маргит) и моста Маргит. По этому маршруту используется самый длинный в Европе однополый тип трамвая Комбино Супра (Combino Supra) длиной 54 метра с 353 посадочными местами. ■.

MARGARET ISLAND. (Between the Margaret-bridge and the Árpád-bridge.) „Green ship” of the River Danube, the home of springs, baths and green meadows. With a length of 2.8 kilometres, Margaret Island spans the area between Margaret Bridge and Árpád Bridge and is covered by the most beautiful park of the city with a modern skywalk. In addition, it also houses ruins of medieval sacred sites, promenades flanked by statues, a water tower classified as a heritage site by UNESCO, the famous “Music Well”, as well as a beach, a swimming pool, a running track, two hotels, restaurants, fast-food restaurants and bars. MAKE A SPLASH WITH THE AMPHIBIOUS COACH. Travelling with one of the most spectacular vehicles in Budapest, it is only a matter of seconds to get into the water from onshore. The residents of Budapest, initially taken aback at the sight of the coach plunging into the Danube, now have had the time to get used to this curious vehicle. However, sometimes you can still hear stifled cries from passengers as they hit the water. The amphibious RiverRide coach, starting at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (V., Roosevelt Square) offers a unique way of discovering the most important sights of Budapest, including the Parliament, the Opera House and Buda Castle. TRAMS OFFERING A PERFECT VIEW. If you cannot choose which attractive neighbourhood you want to visit in Buda or Pest, you should try one of the tram routes running on both banks of the Danube. Trams 19 and 41, both starting at Batthány tér in Buda, as well as tram 2, setting of at Jászai Mari tér in Pest are ideal options if you want to discover the bank area. If you are willing to travel for 40 minutes, all three lines will take you to the outskirts of Budapest: tram 2 to Soroksári út, once bustling with factories, tram 19 to Kelenföld Railway Station (from which trains depart towards Lake Velence and Balaton), and tram 41 to the adventurous Kamaraerdő. We should equally mention tram 61,

which goes from Móricz Zsigmond körtér to Hűvösvölgy, passing Moszkva tér and Városmajor along its route before finally arriving to one of the most popular outing destinations in Budapest. After the adventures on the hill, it is worth getting on tram 4 or 6, which travels through the whole city, making a spectacular round trip for its passengers. The Móricz Zsigmond körtér stop (tram 6) near the Buda side of the Petőfi Bridge and Fehérvári út (tram 4) are the termini on the one side, while the other terminus is Moszkva tér after the entire Nagykörút or Grand Boulevard (József krt., Erzsébet krt., Teréz krt., Szent István krt. and Margit krt.) and Margaret Bridge. One of longest tram types in Europe, the undivided Combino Supra is 54 metres long and it is ideal for 353 people. ■.

Знаменитые здания Будапешта. The most attractive buildings of Budapest. The Hungarian capital city has a lot of historical buildings, which is worth to see by the foreign tourists. FISHERMEN’S BASTION. (I., Halászbástya), 15/03 to 15/10 an entrance fee must be paid between 9 am. and 11 pm. 16/10 to 14/03 free of charge.) The main façade of the Fisherman’s Bastion, running parallel to the Danube, is approximately 140 metres long. The seven stone towers with their pointed tops symbolise the leaders of the Hungarian tribes who conquered the country in 896. It was built in place of the old fortification walls in neo-Romanesque style between 1895 and 1902 on the plans of Frigyes Schulek, who was also in charge of the reconstruction of the Mathias Church. The Bastion takes its name from the guild of fishermen that was responsible for defending this stretch of the city walls in the Middle Ages. HUNGARIAN STATE OPERA HOUSE. (VI., Andrássy út 22. Phone: +36 1 353 0170, www.opera.hu). The Opera House opened to the public on 27 September 1884 with a gala performance featuring the overture of Bánk bán, followed by the overture of László Hunyadi (conducted by Ferenc Erkel) and the first act of Lohengrin (conducted by Sándor Erkel). The building, erected in neo-Renaissance style on the plans of Miklós Ybl, is among the finest 19th century monuments in Budapest. The richly decorated interiors were designed by renowned Hungarian artists such as Mór Than, Károly Lotz and Bertalan Székely.

Дворы Гожду Название Дворы Гожду относится к имени румынского адвоката. Эманоил Гожду (Emanoil Gojdu) был богатым человеком, известным предпринимателем и меценатом. Согласно завещанию адвоката, в 1901 году была построена группа зданий по проекту очень известного в то время архитектора Дезе Циглера. Строительством занимался фонд Гожду, образованный в 1870 году. Вторым большим аттракционом во Дворах Гожду является Blue Bird Cafe. Это кафе, где на месте готовятся составляющие для приготовления особенного кофе и только хозяин знаком с различными способами обжарки зерен кофе и пропорциями его смешивания. Результат: приготовление такого кофе, который Вы нигде не найдете в Будапеште.

Best bars in Budapest Budapest bars are characterised by great traditions, but also by an ability to always reinvent themselves. This, around the turn of the millennium, has brought on another golden age of Budapest bars. Many bars now “recycle” themes evoking the spirit of the beginning of the previous century, but others prefer a more cosmopolitan, glamorous style. It must be said that Budapest bars are in no way inferior to their foreign competitors, in terms of neither quality, nor atmosphere. If you visit Budapest, it is advisable to visit several different bars, with the ones visited not only by tourists but by the locals as well coming especially recommended.

Gozsdu Udvar Gozsdu Udvar was named after a Romanian lawyer, Manó Gozsdu, famous for his realestate investments. The complex under the name was designed by the famous architect Győző Czigler and built in 1901, almost 30 years after Gozsdu himself had passed away. The complex consists of 7 buildings and a passage formed by six interconnected courtyards, which once played a very important part in the life of the Jewish community. The first Jewish prayer houses were established here alongside different stores and shops. A lot has changed since, but Gozsdu Udvar, a small city within the city, is in bloom again. You can find a whole bunch of cafés, bars, restaurants, shops and clubs here, like Spíler, DiVino, Kolor, Blue Bird Café or Szomszéd, and also enjoy art exhibitions, fairs, concerts and other events all year long, so it’s always worth a visit. It is small wonder that Spíler in Gozsdu Udvar distinguishes itself as ruin pub 2.0 because it is teeming with novelties, adding a unique colour to the bar palette of Budapest. The interior might be over-eclectic and excessively crowded in places, but it is arguably original thanks

to street art andtrending design elements. The use of space is also varied, it is divided into a bar section, a courtyardand a restaurant. The music is great quality and devoid of clichés, the crowd is mixed, the prices are friendly. The gastronomical emphasis is on Hungarian craft beer and kenyérlángos - the latter is prepared on spot, in a wood-fueled stove. We’d like to recommend their hamburger especially, which is heavenly. Kolor is a trendy spot on the corner of Gozsdu Udvar and Király utca. One of the busiest bars ofdowntown Budapest awaits you with music to dance to on Fridays and Saturdays and something different on other days.The owner’s dedication to culture is something noteworthy: the profit from Kolor bar sustains side projects such as Vírus Klub, Vírus Pszicho and Kolor Kinema. The place is open from 9 am. till late night. They have a set lunch menu and cocktails with funny names. Начало 21-го столетия внесло новые веяния в ночную жизнь Будапешта. The beginning of the 21st century was an exciting turning point in the nightlife of Budapest: in the central area of the city new places were opened one after another in tenement houses and factory buildings doomed to destruction. These were equipped with rejected furniture of old community centres, cinemas, and grandmothers’ flats, bringing a retro feeling into these places. They were soon called ruinpubs and became popular very fast among the youth of Budapest - ruinpub is the exact translation of the Hungarian name. Ruinpubs often move to a new place, or close for some years, then open in a new place again. They are are not only good places to drink and have a party but also function as cultural community areas with film clubs, theatre performances, concerts, exhibitions, and creative workshops, too. They do not work in a franchise system, there is no specified design, and there are no rules, how to make them. Every place has a unique style and atmosphere. In Szimpla kert (Simple Garden) you can have a beer in a cannibalized old Trabant car. In Instant you can stroll around in the labyrinth of the tenement house. In Kertem (My Garden) you can feel the atmosphere of a socialist beer-garden of the 1980s. Getting to know Budapest by ruinpubs is like being guided here by a local friend.

It’s not enough just to produce good wine, you have to sell it as well. That is why the marketing of wine has become so important. The change that has taken place in recent years is remarkable. Wineries have become tourist attractions in themselves. The shelves of specialist wine shops have seen a transformation from a homogeneous appearance to a differentiation between different producers’ wines.
