Hiszen éppen az ausztrál legenda volt az a játékos, aki a 90-es évek elején erősen kardoskodott egy új, minden addiginál nagyobb pénzdíjjal és exkluzivitással rendelkező sorozat életre hívása mellett. Természetesen a World Golf Tour fantázianévvel ellátott projekt nem nyerte el a PGA Tour akkori vezetésének, és különösen Tim Finchem akkori komisszárnak a tetszését, valószínűleg azért, mert az PGA Tour privilégiumát erősen veszélyeztette volna.
