MEET YOUR TEAM Your lecturers play a vital role in delivering the university experience you’re looking for. Here are just a few of the people you’ll learn from - we think it’s safe to say their research and teaching skills won’t disappoint!

“Teaching the next generation of psychology students is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job; seeing them develop both personally and academically to become leading researchers of our future.” Professor Pooja Saini Professor of Suicide and Self Harm Prevention, Psychology

“At heart, psychology is an ongoing attempt to better understand ourselves and each other. As a clinical psychologist, I am interested in how we link this understanding to improving people’s lives. In my teaching I invite you to look for these connections as well – particularly the ones we have yet to notice.” Dr Ben Rosser Clinical Psychologist and Lecturer, Psychology

“I enjoy teaching students from empirical and practical standpoints to facilitate research interests. I have created “mock” crime scenes based upon reallife homicide cases. This allows for an interactive learning experience which encourages critical thinking, creativity, and a better understanding of empirical components.” Dr Heather Panter Programme leader of MSc Policing and Criminal Investigations, Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies

“I am a Chartered Psychologist who has been involved in both teaching and research in the areas of Clinical and Forensic Psychology. I enjoy teaching students from empirical and practical standpoints to facilitate research interests. My main research interests focus on offender profiling approaches, deviant group behaviour and extreme violence.” Dr Robert Hesketh Senior Lecturer, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice

“I love watching the students develop not only academically but also as individuals while they are here. I pride myself on delivering solid academic material, linked to a practical application of that knowledge and of course lots of fun.” Dr Elizabeth-Jane Peatfield JP Programme Leader, Criminal Justice, Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies Merseyside Woman of the Year Winner 2018

“The Sport Psychology team is made up of BPS accredited and HCPC registered Sport and Exercise Psychologists, who, as well as being world-leading researchers, are also applied practitioners working with a range of clients from elite athletes and teams to mental health charities. This applied work and industry knowledge enables us to provide a guaranteed final year core placement module with our external partners.” Dr Joe Causer Reader in Sensorimotor Behaviour, Sport and Exercise Sciences

I was delighted when I found out that I had been awarded the Scholarship. It made me feel really proud and I would advise other students to apply. Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice graduate Ryan Cockrell received an annual LJMU Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship worth £10,000 for every year of his degree.

I knew I wanted to study in Liverpool as it is a lovely city and far enough from home that I could comfortably move out, but not too far so I can easily pop back if I want to. Shealah Garvey moved from Manchester to Liverpool after securing a place at LJMU to study BSc (Hons) Psychology
