But why not spend a few idle moments participating in a collaborative artwork by designer Doug Fitch, inspired by Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition? You’ll find it spread across the tables in the space, along with an eclectic mix of markers, chalk, crayons and more to help you make your mark.

Explore the second floor of The Conrad, which has transformed into a gallery for visual art. Begin at the spiral stairs behind the bar in The Wu Tsai QRT.yrd or use the elevators located inside The Devine Lobby.

On display are selections from two different musically inspired series by video artist Tristan Cook in collaboration with visual artist Zack Smithey: The Materialization of Sound and Darkness Visible, the latter of which was created in conjunction with the release of SummerFest Music Director Inon Barnatan’s album of the same title.

On display are a series of works selected by visual artist Caio Fonseca in collaboration with SummerFest Music Director Inon Barnatan. Also on display is the 2019 SummerFest cover image by Fonseca, which can be seen as you enter The Devine Lobby of The Baker-Baum Concert Hall.

Created by: Tristan Cook and Zack Smithey Music: Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, Movements VII & VIII Synopsis: These short films, commissioned by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, celebrate one of the most significant musical pieces to come out of the Second World War. Duration: 15 minutes

SummerFest Music Director Inon Barnatan and visual artist, designer and director Doug Fitch join forces for an eclectic, multimedia production that will première tonight in The Baker-Baum Concert Hall. Fitch’s whimsical staging turns the lens back on the visual art that inspired Mussorgsky’s music, evoked through a mix of puppeteering, live video and a few other tricks. First, Barnatan and violinist Liza Ferschtman set a reflective mood with Arvo Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel, which uses a style of composition to evoke the feeling of gazing through a series of mirrors into infinity.
