Employer Resources Cuyahoga County and the state of Ohio provide resources to help employers create a pipeline of skilled workers.

TechCred is a state program that helps build a skilled workforce for a tech-infused economy. To participate, employers partner with an approved credential provider, enroll their employees in the program, and upload proof of credential completion to the TechCred website. Employers will be reimbursed for tuition, lab fees, manuals, textbooks and certification costs up to $2,000 per credential.

GREATER CLEVELAND WORKS helps employers develop a plan to offset the cost of training and upskilling their workforce and connect to Cuyahoga County’s network of business support services. Employer Resources Employer Apprenticeship Programs Tri-C collaborates with employers to create customized apprenticeship programs, offering tailored training, curriculum development and state‑of-the-art facilities. Tri-C also assists with state program approval, compliance and implementation.

The Individual Microcredential Assistance Program (IMAP) The Individual Microcredential Assistance Program (IMAP) helps Ohioans participate in a training program to receive a credential at no cost. All Ohioans are eligible to receive training through IMAP. Learn more at tri-c.edu/workforce/IMAP.

Advanced Technology Academy The Advanced Technology Academy (ATA) offers students ages 17 to 24 classroom and hands-on instruction for in-demand careers, leading to industryrecognized certificates.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

This program is funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act through Ohio Means Jobs | ClevelandCuyahoga County.

• Paid internship (up to 20 hours per week)

• Six- to 21-week programs • Tuition cost and books included (additional eligibility requirements apply) • Stipends earned throughout the program • Job-placement assistance after completion • Uniforms, tools, additional testing, bus passes and other support provided • Short-term certificates available • Drivers’ education available

Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT

Tri-C’s Manufacturing programs are designed in collaboration with industry experts to prepare graduates for immediate entry into the workforce. Offerings range from 32-hour workshops to 500-hour courses, many of which lead to industry-recognized certificates. Several programs also award college credit toward an associate degree. Apprenticeship opportunities with leading companies are available, and employee training can be delivered at your facility by Tri-C instructors.

Ideation Station As a fabrication laboratory, often known as a fab lab, the Ideation Station serves as a springboard for prototyping, one-off project designs and entrepreneurship for the community at large. The Ideation Station offers classes, summer camps and workshops that include project-based, hands-on learning for youth and adults. Computer Science and IT Fast Track Programs Computer Science Programs

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT:

Tri-C’s Computer Science programs feature technical courses — from introductory to specialized — which prepare students for careers in the evolving IT field. In addition to professional, post-degree and short-term certificates, students can earn an Associate of Arts in Computer Science.

The Cleveland Codes Software Developer Academy is a 14-week hybrid IT Fast Track program. Students work through self-directed online content prior to class. The flexible learning structure provides students with the necessary skills to pursue a career in web application and development by learning to program in Python in a full-stack environment. Students take four Microsoft certification exams in IT Specialist HTML/CSS (98-383), IT Specialist JavaScript (98-382), IT Specialist Databases (98‑364) and IT Specialist Python (98-381) as part of this engaging learning experience.

Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Training If students are unsure if construction is the right fit, they can enroll in Tri-C’s four-week pre-apprenticeship training. This program exposes students to multiple industrial trades. In partnership with the Cleveland Building and Construction Trades Council, this fast-track program connects talented, well-prepared students with local building trade apprenticeship programs offering sustainable career opportunities within the construction industry.

Construction Programs

Construction Program Areas:

Tri-C’s unique partnerships with construction apprenticeship programs allow students to learn on the job while earning credits toward an Associate of Applied Science and/or a Certificate of Proficiency.

Students must be currently working in a registered apprenticeship program overseen by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. The apprenticeship program prepares the student to earn journey-level status and an Associate of Applied Science in Applied Industrial Technology. An apprenticeship emphasizes the skill set required of a craftsman and allows students to earn money while they learn their craft.

Health Industry Solutions Health Industry Solutions Programs

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT:

Health Industry Solutions offers a variety of programs for students interested in working in a health care setting. The programs provide affordable health care training for quick career entry, including patient care, frontline public health work and administrative positions.

Community Health Worker Community health workers help patients access essential community resources and overcome challenges. They work in a variety of settings, such as health centers, nonprofits, clinics, hospitals, homes, faith-based organizations and more. There are apprenticeship opportunities available.

Continuing Education programs are also offered for dental and health care professionals with up-to-date knowledge and skills.

FACILITY HIGHLIGHT: Tri-C’s Health Simulation Centers provide opportunities for creative learning in numerous disciplines to promote the delivery of safe, advanced patient care. The simulators are available for rent, and the Health Simulation Centers offer services to help any group promote health care education.

Public Safety Public Safety Programs

The KeyBank Public Safety Training Center on the Western Campus, dedicated in June 2016, features specialized simulation areas for realistic, hands-on training.

For over 40 years, Tri-C has been a leader in law enforcement and fire training in Northeast Ohio. The College offers comprehensive basic training in policing, fire services, private security, emergency dispatch and corrections. Students will earn academic credits toward an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Technology or Criminal Justice, with specialized concentrations in Security Administration, Corrections or Fire Emergency Medical Technician. Tri-C’s academies train more emergency response professionals than any other academy in Ohio. The demand for positions in this field — such as dispatchers, police and firefighters — is expected to grow through 2030.

Transportation The Transportation Innovation Center, located at 24881 Rockwell Drive in Euclid, provides specialized training for high-paying jobs crucial to the U.S. economy. It hosts CDL training programs and has served nearly 1,000 graduates in the past decade, along with courses for the supply chain and logistics industry.

FACILITY HIGHLIGHTS: Featuring advanced technology, the center offers interactive classrooms and ample practice space for truck driving training. Acres of asphalt outside the building provide ample space for behindthe-wheel practice. Four tractor-trailers can be on the driving pad at one time. The facility also operates a CDL testing office — one of only 16 in Ohio. Additionally, the facility also accepts walk-in appointments for students looking to take their noncommercial driver’s test.

Additionally, the center offers training for warehouse jobs and plans for a diesel engine technician program. The demand for positions in this industry is expected to increase through 2030.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT: Class A CDL Truck Driver Training Unlike many other truck driving schools, Tri-C offers small class sizes and updated equipment. The Class A CDL Truck Driver Training provides instruction on driver safety, cargo transportation safety, air brakes, combination vehicles, tank vehicles and hazardous materials. It also includes pre-trip vehicle inspection, vehicle control and onroad driving (required for skills testing). This program is licensed by the Ohio Department of Public Safety as a CDL Driver Training School.

Myths About Workforce Programs MYTH

FACT

Scholarships and financial aid are not available for Tri-C’s Workforce Division programs.

Financial aid is available for credit programs, and partial, stackable scholarship opportunities are available for noncredit programs.

“Regular” students are not interested in Workforce Training.

Students of all backgrounds are interested in improving their lives. Workforce Training programs are fast, connect students to growing industries, and allow those already working to upskill.

All Workforce programs are noncredit.

At least 50% of Tri-C’s Workforce programs can be taken for credit.

All Workforce Training takes place at the Manufacturing Technology Center.
