EDITOR’S LETTER

SHOT IN THE ARM

Well. We made it. We have officially put 2020 behind us. (Insert sad noisemaker sound effect, played to exactly one other person permitted in close proximity.)

While we’re starting off this year in sadly similar fashion to where we were at the start of the year, when Hong Kong was in its first pandemic throes, there’s so much to look forward to in the coming year! From vaccines to vaccines, and vaccines to vaccines… OK, so there’s one BIG thing to look forward to. But it’s a good one, and it certainly does feel like we’re on the precipice of possibly catching a glimpse of what appears to perhaps be a light at the end of the tunnel. Hooray!

With or without vaccines, the start of a new year usually coincides with a little extra optimism, as we all look ahead and dream about what we’ll accomplish in the next twelve months. That’s why we’re going all in on keeping that New Year’s mindset going, with our cover story on fostering positivity and maintaining a healthy headspace throughout 2021 (and beyond!). Read more on p.16.

Land, ho! One very cool thing I got to cross off my bucket list in 2020 was learning how to sail - or learning why I wanted to learn how to sail, since I’m still pretty terrible at it. Find out why I now believe that everyone should try their hand at sailing in Hong Kong at least once on p.22.

We’ve also found some Insta-worthy destination-themed restaurants to try if you’re craving travel on p.10, pro tips on skin priming on p.28, and a decadent fallen olive oil dark chocolate cake *drool noise* on p.26.

It’s been a real pleasure serving as editor to you fine, health-conscious readers of ours for yet another year. Happy New Year!
