Character Development

At Livingstone we aim to shape our student’s character with values that support them to have individual success, as well as being a positive contributor to the College community. Our SHAPE values are:

Self-control

Is the ability to regulate emotions, thoughts and actions in such a way that our choices support positive relationships and achievement.

Humility

Is the quality of having a modest view of one’s own importance. While we believe that every child at Livingstone is of great importance, humility counters selfishness and pride.

Achievement

We believe that each child is created by God with incredible potential and that school is a place to formally pursue improvement and achievement in everything that is placed in front of us – our work, our play, our relationships.

Perseverance

Is the capacity to persist in doing what is good despite difficulty or delay. We recognise that things of value usually take lots of time and hard work.

Encouragement

We believe that there is value and power in being part of an encouraging community. Encouragement is building others up and giving others courage to belong, persevere and achieve.
