weather HEAVY RAIN FLOODS ROADS IN STOTFOLD

Last month we experienced heavy rain across the country and water levels in the Bedfordshire region rose sharply. High water levels in Pix Brook resulted in flooding at Brook Street in Stotfold and surrounding roads including Coppice Mead and Wycklond Close. Many locals were stranded as access to homes became severely restricted due to the flood waters blocking roads and residential areas. One bystander stated, “I’ve never seen the flood waters rise above the top of the bridge and flow over the actual road itself.”

Local residents used sandbags to try and prevent flood water entering their homes but as the water levels continued to rise the potential for homes to flood increased and several properties were affected.
