We are thrilled with the 2016 calf crop and our selection of bred heifers; cattle that are right for our program, our environment, and right for our customers.

New faces and fresh ideas have come with the addition of Julia Meyerhans, Ben Courchesne, and Dorothee Döhne to our ranch family. We are excited to have them on board, we welcome their enthusiasm in the operation of the ranch and look forward to even more progress in the breeding program here at Square D. As you look at the photographs in the catalog, remember we do the best to get a good photo but these are ranch heifers raised to be breeding cows, not show cows.

They will be even more impressive when you see them sale day. That’s what will make you want to take one home!

Our plan has never been to breed and showcase one great cow, then flush and pamper her. Rather, we have 150 really good cows that have to raise their calf on their own well, year after year or she is gone. We breed for consistent cow families with good udders, good feet and good temperament that will maintain their condition in both good and bad weather without feeding grain.

We continually look for and buy bulls who are the best we can buy and A.I. very little unless they are our own bulls, so we can get the consistency we desire.

These are the 18 bred heifers we selected to represent our breeding herd and are all good individuals. We had 68 bred heifers this year. We will keep 10-20 heifers besides the 18 we are selling in this sale. There will still be 30-40 heifers for sale at home this fall/winter.

We have never sold heifer calves. These 68 are all of our own 2015 females.

Pedigrees: All of the cattle selling are registered with the CHA and any certificate of registration will be transferred to the buyer after the sale at the seller’s expense. Calf EPD’s are pedigree estimates.

Phone, Mail, or Online Bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale can phone, mail, or bid online their bids and instructions to any of the owners, auctioneer or sale staff. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to sale.

Health: The cattle being offered are in good health. All the herds are maintained in a TB and Brucellosis free area. Any necessary tests needed for export will be arranged by Square-D following the sale.

Transportation: Contributors will assist in any way possible in the delivery of your purchases. Cattle purchased by US buyers will be returned to the seller’s farm at the purchaser’s risk while pedigrees are being processes.
