Bull Delivery Information

Any buyer taking their new bull(s) home sale day will receive a $100/bull discount on the purchase price of the bull(s). For buyers that choose to have the consignor take the bulls back to our farms, you will be charged an additional $100/bull over and above the purchase price due at the time of settlement.

For buyers choosing this option, insurance on the bull(s) is required. We will assist with delivery arrangements.

There will be no delivery on the heifers. The buyer will be responsible for delivery arrangements.

Along with my wife Esther, daughter Katie, and son Luke we run a small red angus herd just outside of Saltcoats.

What an exciting year it has been for us as we are finally able to offer up the first sons off the high selling bull, Red Rainbow Defiance 19A from the Towaw & Guest Bull Sale in 2014. Defiance is a heavy muscled, big hipped, long sided rascal with big testicles. The maternal side of Defiance is just flat out awesome. His dam is a member of the famed Lois Cow Family that has done so much for the breed.

As you will see, his calves are huge hipped, huge topped, long sided, big testicles and super sound; as well a very docile. His females look just as good and we can’t wait to see the calves they will produce.

These bulls had big time weaning weights; coming straight off of grass on August 30th and have just exploded since. If you are looking for big hipped, attractive bulls make sure to mark March 12th on your calendar and come down and check them out for yourself.

All Canadian bred Moonshine is a super attractive long sided clean fronted bull. With no more moonshine semen on the market heres a chance to purchase one of his good ones. He tipped the scale at 890 lbs on aug 30th. I feel Moonshine whould work well on both heifers and cows.

Welcome again to the 6th annual Range Ready Bull Sale. Along with our fellow breeders and Heartland livestock there will be bulls for every cattlemen. If you have any questions or want to see the bulls prior to sale day don’t hesitate to call.

This year we have both red and black 2 Yr. old Limos coming to town. We have been breeding Limos for some time now and are very happy with them.

Calves that are born easily and are vigorous at birth simplify the workload.

They will add growth, performance and a well muscled hip to any cow’s calf.

Limousin is the carcass breed which sets the standard for all to follow. In the end all animals are paid for the meat they produce not fat or bone and this is what we need to feed and breed for.

The Charolais bulls for us this year are the four yearlings. Char cross calves are once again topping the markets. Weight and growth simply pay and this is what makes them popular. All four bulls have great genetics and will make money for their new owners.

On offer again this year will be sons of R Plus 2035Z (Junior) he stamps his calves consistently putting his genetic traits into his sons making for a great group of bulls. The first group of 2035Z females are calving this year and we are very pleased with their udder development and over style of these females, we are very excited to see how they will produce this summer.

There will also be a strong set of black sons from BDS Enticer 78y we used him on cows to moderate frame and add the easy fleshing ability his calves possess both on the male and female side.

Reference Sire - IPU Pittsburgh 17Y - Sire of Lots 37,38 and 47

Our red Herd Sire IPU PITTSBURGH 17Y round out the red side of the sale, and this will also be the last set of sons from our calving ease bull Muirheads TNT 36U, we had to relieve him unfortunately of his duties in the heifer pen this year due to an injury and age. His influence in producing some good milking females as well as some easy calving bulls that have the ability to be born smaller and still put on the pounds will be missed but not forgotten for he is still alive in the tank.

Also on offer this year is some bulls we used A.I this past year which includes 3 sons of HWY 5 Kingpin 23Y, Hart Factor, and KNK/CSR Red Bull.

Pick of the 2015 Highway 5 Simmental Heifer Calves

We are offering a pick of our keeper pen of the 2015 heifer calves. These future young females are backed by productive, functional beef cows with generations of solid, selected quality genetics, with sound udders and balanced traits. The culling has already been done. An opportunity to select a female from the cream of our crop.

What a wonderful winter we have had so far! Jobs that have been off for far too long have been caught up on and it’s been real easy on the livestock and feed stacks.

We’re sure happy with the group of bulls that we are bringing to town this year. We are offering three different sire groups CL 1 DOMINO 0192X is a bull we purchased together with Gillespie Herefords from Cooper Herefords of Willow Creek Montana. We previewed his sons 2 years ago at the sale, then had to skip a year as he was breeding at Gillespie’s. 0192X’s sons are short marked, stylish and are packed full of performance. We went with L1 Domino to take advantage of their strong maternal traits, and mixed together with our home raised cows these bulls will not disappoint.

As always, disposition is key in our herd. If any animal looks at us sideways they are culled in a hurry. With the girls getting older and becoming more involved with the cattle we cannot and do not take chances.

As calves these guys are fed a high roughage ration and run on pasture until late October. They are then fed a grain protein and minerals and are fed alfalfa/brome hay up until sale time.

They are not pushed and will not “melt” when you put them out on pasture.
