“FAR BEYOND NUMBERS” Hills Galore Stock Farms is a family owned and operated working cow ranch situated in SW Saskatchewan.

Just east of the “Great Sand Hills”, the annual moisture is 12-15” – this includes snow. We winter our cow herd on baled hay and loose mineral. Typically our cows will start spring grazing the second week in April and with a “little luck” we won’t have to start feeding until after Christmas – No luck the past few years!

In our area, it takes 20 acres of native pasture to maintain and feed a cow/calf pair. It is important for us to be able to evaluate the performance of our cow herd - “Mother Nature” creep feeds our calves!

While we appreciate the value of EPD’s, after raising Herefords for 54 years our cattle far exceed “Beyond their numbers”.

A “Designed Genetic Program” offering years of culling for traits like structure, feet, legs, calving ease, udder quality, eye set, pigment and do-ability.

We USE, RAISE and MARKET Bulls that can go out and pasture breed in all environments and conditions.

For a cow to stay in production they must remain sound, have a good udder, produce a calf and breed back every year. We do not keep cows with any signs of potential reproductive concerns. We don’t flush open cows.

Our cattle must be easy to handle - We don’t market problems, we market solutions.

We sell more than 60-70 Polled Hereford and Black Angus bulls privately from the ranch annually.

We feel this years display of pen cattle is a true representation of our program and the genetics behind the Hills Galore cattle.

While we all love to be competitive in the show ring………..

We think it is more important to be competitive on the range.

75% of our females calve with in the first 30 days of our calving season.

With Julia at college the average age of our “staff “ is 10 years old.

We won’t tolerate temperament issues, mothering ability or problem udders.
