Camden Cattle with Guest Niwa Ranching Simmental Bull and Female Sale 2025

Page 1

Welcome to the Sale...

Welcome to our 13th Annual Bull and Heifer Sale! A huge Thank You to all our loyal people, buyers, bidders and the TRANSCON team for helping to make 2024 a success.

The bulls on offer this year are a very good group of quiet, hairy stout, sound footed animals. Five walking herd sires and eight proven AI sires make for a very diverse pen full of bulls. Red, RWF and black. And easy calving to power bulls, you’ll find them all. The cow families behind these bulls have mostly been here for many generations! We cull hard on feet, udder quality, conformation and docility. The bulls are on a TMR of hay silage and a bull pellets. They are kept in a large pen from weaning to March, then moved closer to the sale barn in March. Both the bulls and heifers have been boosted with 7 way and Pfizer One Shot and by sale day the bulls will have had two shots of Fusoguard.

Once again, we are offering packages of heifers, purebred and commercial. The trust our customers have in our program makes this all so worthwhile and really means the world to us!

We’d like to thank Bridget Andrews for building our catalogue again this year, and to Caelidh Johanson Green for photography. We admire these two women not only for their talents, but for their amazing patience!

We hope to see you Wednesday, March 26th at the sale! Roast Beef lunch at noon, sale at 2:00. Feel welcome to stay for socializing after the sale.

The bulls and heifers can be viewed anytime ahead of the sale, and if you have any questions or inquiry’s, please call any of us here at Camden or the TRANSCON team.

If you can’t make it sale day, the sale is broadcast live on DLMS.

Hope to talk sale day!

CHEERS from all of us at Camden!!

The Transcon Team Welcomes You ...

On behalf of Camden Cattle Company, Niwa Ranching and the crew at Transcon Livestock. We invite you to join us on March 26th at 2:00 pm at the Camden Ranch near New Brigden AB for the 13th annual Camden Cattle Company and guest Niwa Ranching Bull and Female sale.

These are exciting times to be in the agriculture industry. The beef sector is one that has seen tremendous growth potential and a huge swing upward in market value $$$$$

I had the opportunity in mid January to tour both the Camden and Niwa bull and heifer pens. The bulls in the sale offering that are sired by the walking herdsires that walk the pastures in Eastern Alberta are flat out good and shows that the countless hours and effort put into sire selections is definitely paying off for both of these operations. Both Lloyd and Louise aren’t afraid to purchase a bull and turn him out with their powerful cow herds. By doing this it gives them the uniformity in the type of cattle they both produce. Camden’s had the Grand Champion Bull Pen and Niwa Ranching had the Reserve Champion Bull Pen at the 2025 Oyen Beef Congress. Watch for these boys on sale day!

Artificial Insemination is also a part of both programs and allows them to select for certain traits and then select the females from the herds that they will work best on. These genetic matings add a bit of a twist, providing even more options for you the buyer and the opportunity to select from power bulls to more calving ease type.

The bulls on offer are as good and as sound as you will find. They have great dispositions and are stout made, super hairy and good footed with excellent phenotype. Bulls that aren’t pushed and over done on feed, they are very athletic and fluent in their movement and structure.

The offering is right for the times and will be highly productive. You can be assured the bulls are backed up by a quality dam and or cow family. Bulls that will go out and work in the most diverse conditions. The number of repeat customers says a lot about the Camden and Niwa programs. Believing in the product produced is key. There will be bulls here that will meet everyone’s criteria and budget. POUNDS = PROFIT $$$$

Also on offer will be a select group of open purebred heifers as well as open commercial replacement heifers. Niwa and Camden both run commercial programs as well as the purebreds. Take this opportunity to sit in and buy some powerful and unique genetics. These females are TOP NOTCH and will make great additions to the most critical cattlemen’s herd. Many are sisters to the bulls in the sale offering. Rest assured these females are second to none and deserve your attention In the female offering will be the 2024 Medicine Hat Pen Show and 2025 Oyen Beef Congress champion pen of 3 open commercial heifers from Niwa Ranching and the Reserve Champion Pen of Purebred Heifers from Camden Cattle.

Mark your calendars and plan to join us Wednesday March 26th at 2:00 pm. Come early for lunch and some great hospitality prior to the sale as well as after. In the event you are unable to attend the sale but would like to purchase bulls or heifers, give one of us on the Transcon team a call and we will go thru the sale offering with you. You will get our unbiased and professional opinions which is confidential.

See You Sale Day!

Niwa Ranching Co. Welcomes You

Welcome to Camden Cattle’s 13th annual bull sale, where I am honored and privileged to be nvited back as a guest consigner for the 3rd year! I am very excited for this year’s sale and feel the quality and selection of my bull and heifer crop is better than ever!

With a full-hearted attempt to bring you the best line-up I can offer, I have culled ruthlessly in both my heifer and bull pens. My commercial and purebred herds are not babied! My stock must walk, perform, and survive in harsh environmental conditions. This includes continuous drought, massive pastures (consisting of several sections), no trees, and long distances between water sources. My purebreds are treated as equals with my commercial herd and are expected to survive and perform in the Rugged Ranch Environment I have chosen to call home. My goal is to produce ranch-type cattle selecting genetic traits essential for thriving in our adverse environmental conditions (feet and haircoat), and excel in key components essential to the profitability of the everyday ranching operation (maternal and performance). I spend a lot of time with my cattle and have “zero-tolerance” for a bad attitude or personality disorder. I expect nothing less than a 4-star personality rating in any animal on the Niwa Ranch.

The bulls on offer have been moderately fed for slow and consistent growth. They have received a mixed ration consisting of 12 lbs Bulls Eye Bull Ration, grass hay and silage. The heifers have received 7 lbs Bulls Eye Bull ration, grass hay and silage. There is NO barley or alfalfa in my program. Bulls and heifers are on a full herd health program overseen by Oyen Vet Services. They have been vaccinated with Merik Vison 8 Somnus with Spur, Vista Once and Bovilis Nasalgen.

The commercial open heifers on offer are ranch raised/first-cut, reputation females that normally I would be keeping for my own herd, but as I slowly retain more purebreds, I am offering these quality commercial replacements for sale. All sale cattle run with NO BRAND. New to this year’s sale are purebred registered open replacements. Lastly, if you are interested in supporting a great cause, don’t miss the donation heifer at the end of the catalog. Proceeds will be going to Halo and the Acadia Valley Fire Department.

I would like to extend my gratitude to Lloyd, Sandra and Kresten for giving me the opportunity to sell alongside them, and giving me the foundation on which to build my humble dream of raising purebred Simmentals. To my past buyers and bidders. Building a reputation from scratch in this industry is not an easy task. Thank you for your past purchases and believing in my cattle and my program.

Lastly, a huge thank you to Darren and the team at Transcon Livestock. Your honest and professional sales management is so very much appreciated.

Stop by the ranch anytime if you would like to look at the line up on offer. The coffee is always on, and the beer is always cold!

A standout since birth, NRC 413M is proof that big things can come from small packages. His mother Black Gold 26F has a 5-star personality rating and can be described as a “moderate tank”. She is stout, but still feminine. Her massively muscled bull calf checks all the boxes. Quiet, mahogany haircoat, big dark foot, and moderate birth weight. He also sits in the top 5% weaning weight percentile. All of this wrapped up in a Homo-polled package! What’s not to love?? Hands down, the best bull calf raised to date at the Niwa Ranch. I was fortunate to purchase 4 cows bred to this Powerhouse sire from Westroh Farms. Of the 4 bred to him, 3 had bull calves and all 3 are at the top of my bull pen! This is thanks to the best of the best of the Tycoon traits shining through. Tycoon excels at bolstering, weaning and yearling weights and passes on his style, hair and excellent foot-set in these 3 half-brothers. In my opinion, if I could pick a whole herd sired by one bloodline, I would choose Tycoon. Undeniably just damn good cattle!!

Like all 3 Tycoon 39K sons, this guy has a lot going for him. He is long, wide and has an excellent hip. He also sits in the top 15 percentile for weaning weight. His mother 53J is the sweetest, quietest cow in my herd, and you can’t get out of the pen without giving her a scratch. Magnitude was featured in my Red/Black pen at the Oyen Beef Expo. His sire, the one and only SVS Captain Morgan 11Z needs no introduction and always seems to throw in that added calving ease we are all looking for. This guy’s mother MAF 47F is a beauty and continually cranks out top-end sale bulls for me. He sits in the green in almost every percentile including calving ease, weaning/yearling weight as well as all maternal traits. 418M’s mother, MAF 55F, is another excellent Meadow Acres purchase. Phenotypically her reference photo says it all. What you can’t see however is a set of big, black, chunky heels under her which put the icing on the cake; and is also what rifled her into “flush-cow” status. MAF 55F raised my high selling bull calf two years ago; selling to Triple K Simmentals for $14,000.

NIWA HITCH MERRIT 458M

HOMO POLLED This cool calf is from the interesting AI sire American Red 99E whom offers calving ease, growth and above average EPD’s. 428M ranks in the green in 11 of the 13 EPD traits! I can’t brag enough about his mother MAF 1G. She has a 5-start foot rating, 5-star udder-set, and is the most feminine female in my herd. If I had one word to describe her, it would be downright “gorgeous”! Since I have owned her, she only produced heifer calves, all of which ended up in my herd…and all carry the maternal qualities of their mamma. The hunt for the perfect heifer bull led me to High Bluff Farms in Manitoba. When Darren called me about Katmandu 30K, he told me “He is everything you are looking for… A homo polled, calving-ease-power bull, with a 5- star foot rating. He is quiet and has an excellent mother. There’s one “exception”. He comes in the black model. His ability to check every box EXCEPT hide color made my decision to own this calving ease powerhouse; and boy am I glad I did. His first calf crop hit the ground confirming his sure-fire calving ease numbers. He also sits in the top 15% of weaning and yearling weight percentiles. I am so confident in Katmans’ calving ease record, I ran him as my main heifer bull on my commercial replacements. Although black is a bit out of my comfort zone, Katman explains some of the black-hided calves on offer. I have chosen to offer the entire black calf crop off this great young sire as well as a semen lot. If calving ease is what you’re after, I am confident you will not go wrong with offspring from High Bluff Katmandu 30K

HOMO POLLED

This calf’s sire Katmandu 30K was purchased from High Bluff as a heifer bull. For fun, I tried him on a few power-cows and boy did this match work well! Manhattan 424M is a meat machine with big nuts, wicked haircoat, lots of length, and a big black foot. When it comes to demeanor, he is just like his mother with a 5-star personality rating. If you’re looking for an all-in-one power/performance/calving ease herd sire, feast your eyes on this big boy! Manhattan 424M is halter broke and was in the Reserve Champion Yearling Bull Pen at the Oyen Beef Expo alongside his pen-mate NRC 430M.

HIGH BLUFF KATMANDU 30K - Sire of Lots

427M is one of only 2 red-hided Katman sons born last year. This bull is softer made and more moderate than the other bulls on offer. His mother is a Western Force first calver which means a double shot of calving ease on both the top and bottom side. With a birthweight of only 84 lb, this guy might be a heifer bull candidate.

HOMO POLLED

Katman Merit 405M is stealth-made with exceptionally smooth shoulders. His 75 lb birthweight puts him in the top 20th percentile for calving ease. He also sits in the top 20th percentile for weaning weight and top 15th percentile for yearling weight. His mother NIWA Rip Kyrie 213K is a stout, dark red first calver, with a lot of hair and tons of style. If you’re after calving ease with some power, look no further than 405M.

HOMO POLLED

We unfortunately lost this guys’ sweet mamma “Doris” this past year. Doris was a total pet and was one of the most photographed animals here at the Niwa Ranch. Her Katman calf comes with the black- chrome trim package and should keep calving ease in a cow-bull model.

WINDY KNOLL DORIS 37F - Dam of Lot 59

I chose to dip my toe in the heifer market this year by offering my black open replacements for sale. 3 of the 4 on offer are from my calving ease extraordinaire High Bluff Katmandu 30K (aka Katman). These 3 half-sisters are feminine, smooth fronted, moderate framed and obviously stamped with Katman’s unsavvy calving ease. On a side note, the 406M heifer is out of my one and only polled full-blood flush cow, so no need to explain what I think of this calf’s dam!

4 years ago, I was in an accident where I was mauled by one of my calving cows. I was alone and it was 2 am. Luckily, I had my phone and was able to call 911. First on the scene was the Acadia Valley Fire Department. They were able to stabilize me, and I was taken by Ambulance to the Oyen Hospital. I suffered a broken leg and two broken ribs.

I will never forget that night, nor will if forget the comfort I felt when I heard the familiar voices of my friends and neighbors who serve on the Acadia Valley Volunteer Fire Department. I knew I was in competent hands. My injuries were not life-threatening, therefore could be treated at our local hospital. I was informed however Halo was ready and waiting for “the call” and would’ve been on-route within minutes if my situation was deemed critical. I am beyond thankful for the Acadia Valley Fire Department for their dedicated volunteers. I am equally thankful for Halo being “on call” and covering our remote location. Although I did not need them that night, Halo has been on-site for numerous life-threatening situations in the Acadia Valley area over recent months and years providing life saving, critical care transport from our surrounding area. This donation heifer proceeds will be split between Halo and the Acadia Valley Fire Department as a token of my appreciation for everything they do for our community. I am beyond grateful.

This donation heifer is the younger end of my purebred heifers and sells commercially. She has a shot of full fleck and is as cute as a button. She should add some character to your replacement pen.

Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. BID - No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted.

SALES TAXES – Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos, and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller.

PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

INSURANCE – Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser at the time of sale and should be insured. Animals returning to the seller’s farm must be insured.

US BUYERS – There is an additional charge (approximately $300.00 US dollars) that will be applied to each animal purchased. This covers documentation, vet inspections/testing required to export. This cost does not include transportation or brokerage which is the responsibility of the buyer.

CATTLE PICTURES AND INFORMATION PROVIDED - The images in this catalogue are believed to be accurate representations of the individual animals and the information contained in this catalogue is provided by the seller and believed to be true and accurate. Transcon Livestock Corp. and catalogue designers/producers assume no responsibility if the images and/or information as received have been altered or is inaccurate.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – All announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - A registration/recordation certificate issued by the applicable breed association and duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association.

SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.

BREEDERS GUARANTEE - As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price. EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.

HEALTH - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.

EMBRYO & SEMEN – Full settlement must be made before release is done and shipping arrangements should be done within 30 days of the sale unless arrangements made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Shipping arrangements and costs are the expense of the purchaser once release has been given.

ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors, or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

TRANSCON LIVESTOCK CORP. IS AGENT ONLY - It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations.
