Once again we are so excited to be hosting our annual sale at the farm. A huge thank you to buyers, bidders, the TRANSCON team, and for all who helped in anyway to make our 2023 sale a success.

Our group of bulls are quiet, hairy, stout, good footed animals. Sired by many top AI sires and six walking bulls. They were kept in a very large pen from weaning until the really cold hit. Then they were moved to where they can access a shelter. The ration starts with free choice hay and pellets, then changes to a TMR of silage hay and pellets. Both the bulls and heifers have been boosted with a 7-way and Pfizer one shot and were given Enforce as calves. By sale time the bulls will have had two shots of Fusoguard for some help in covering foot rot. All our bulls have been 100K sire verified and horn/polled tested.

Our cowherd is continually evolving and improving. We ruthlessly cull for udder soundness, feet quality, disposition, confirmation and performance. The heifers we have chosen for sale are all home grown. No commercial heifers were retained in our herd so only the top end is offered. Our purebred heifers are culled and sold in October and again in December. The remainder we feel are good solid females and could excel in any top commercial or purebred herd. They will all be sold in small uniform groups. Look for the videos to be online mid March.

We lost our Mom, Grandma J, Great Grandma J, this year . A beautiful person, we are forever thankful for her love, encouragement, and words of wisdom. Mom J will be forever missed and always in our hearts. She will be sitting high in the saddle on sale day, smiling down on us.

We invite you to the 12th Annual Camden Cattle Co. and guest Niwa Ranching Bull and Female sale on the ranch, near New Brigden AB. These are some exciting times to be in the agriculture industry. The BEEF sector is one that has seen tremendous growth potential and a big upswing in market value $$$.

These are two programs that are passionate about raising easy doing and carefree type cattle that will survive in the most diverse conditions. Both are located in East Central Alberta in hard grass country where lately they haven’t received a lot of moisture.

As I toured, both the Jorgenson’s and Niwa bull pens, in mid January my first impression was the consistency and quality of the bulls. The combined offering that they have put together for this year’s sale are stout and thick made, big bodied, big hipped and have excellent phenotype. They are athletic and fluent in their movement and are super hairy. To top it off they are super quiet. Bulls that are right for the times. POUNDS = PROFIT $$$

The two programs work well together and share some of the same breeding bulls during breeding season. They spend countless hours researching to find the freshest and best genetics to improve their programs and offer to you a very honest set of ranch raised Simmental bulls.

Added attraction to the sale is the great set of open replacement heifers. These are a very fancy set of Simmental influenced females that are top cut from their respective pens. Many of these will be sired by the same sires as the bulls in the sale. Rest assured they are second to none and deserve your attention!

Congratulations to both breeding programs on their recent success at the Oyen Beef Expo with having Champion Pen of Bulls, Reserve Champion Ben of Purebred Heifers and Reserve Champion pen of Commercial Heifers.

I am honored and privileged to be invited back as a guest consigner at Camden Cattle’s 12th Annual Bull Sale at their ranch! Last year was a steep learning curve as I ventured into the purebred world. I thank all those who have supported and encouraged me along this journey…and most of all the Jorgenson’s for giving me the foundation on which to build my humble dream of raising purebred Simmentals.

The bulls on offer have been moderately fed for slow and consistent growth. They have been fed a whole oat/lentil mix and free-choice grass hay. They ran on a 70-acre pasture all fall and were not brought in until they were weighed and processed in January. Bulls are on a full herd health program and have been vaccinated with Merik Vison 8 Somnus with Spur, Vista Once and Bovilis Nasalgen.

My commercial and purebred herd are not babied! They are expected to walk, perform, and survive in a rugged ranch environment. This includes the drought that has devastated our area over the past number of years. I am a rancher first, and a purebred breeder second. My goal is to produce ranch-type cattle selecting genetic traits that are essential for the everyday ranching operation.

With a full-hearted attempt to bring you the best line-up I can offer. I have culled ruthlessly in both my heifer and bull pens. The commercial open heifers on offer are ranch raised/first-cut, reputation females that normally I would be keeping for my own herd…but as I slowly retain more purebreds, I am offering these quality commercial replacements for sale. They run with NO BRAND and are on a full herd health program and have been shown in both Medicine Hat and Oyen Pen Shows. I would never sell a bull or heifer that I didn’t have the confidence to retain in my own herd.

This Strut son is the youngest calf in the sale, but don’t let that deter you! His mother is a massive bodied/low-to-the-ground Captain Scream daughter with an excellent udder. What to Watch for Next Year....

We all know in this industry that its all about “Next Year”! There are some pretty new and exciting things to look forward to as the 2024 calf crop hits the ground.

What to watch for in 2025 at the Niwa Ranch:

Calving EASE coming your way!! This calving season I really focused on calving ease. To do this, High Bluff Katman 30K was added to the herd and his calves just what I had hoped for. 2025 will bring a large selection of calving ease bulls to choose from.

BLACK. This is something I wasn’t expecting to the extent I am seeing. In the efforts to add some diversity to my herd, I rolled the dice on multiple RC (Red Carrier) black bulls. It seems the dice came up black more times than not. Stay tuned for a selection of BLACK bull calves and heifers in 2025!

RED and WHITE. Who doesn’t love a blaze?? In addition to blaze faced EUG HITCH 112H who is co-owed with Camden Cattle, I also added some more white faces to to my walking bull battery. CHAMPS Mamba 43K and Big Hills Rattler 850J gave it a whirl as two of my new young herd sires. Their calves are coming out just as I had imagined…with the classic money stripe!!! All these flashy walking bulls have been used on my commercial cattle as well, so look forward to seeing some bling in next year’s bull and heifer line-up, as well as the commercial heifers!

Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for their purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. Transcon Livestock Corp and/or the Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers.

BID - No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted.

SALES TAXES – Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos, and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller.

DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

INSURANCE – Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser at the time of sale and should be insured. Animals returning to the seller’s farm must be insured.

US BUYERS – There is an additional charge (approximately $300.00 US dollars) that will be applied to each animal purchased. This covers documentation, vet inspections/testing required to export. This cost does not include transportation or brokerage which is the responsibility of the buyer.
