DEAR BREEDERS,

We would like to welcome you all to the 2nd Annual Country Roads Sale. It was our vision to have a multi-breed sale in the fall which included some club calves that juniors could purchase for a project in the upcoming year. Last year in our inaugural sale, quality was good and we hope to build on that. Although it is a trying time, we hope you see that potential in these animals and use the opportunity to build your herd or to find that next show heifer or steer. This year we will be adding a few more Angus cows and bulls. We are humbled to have the breeders from the highly successful Rocking P Sale join us. We know that sale had a great reputation and look forward to working with them in addition to the consignors we had last year and the new breeders that have joined us this year. It is exciting to be back at Jackson’s Mill, but we will need to follow Covid guidelines and wear a mask and practice social distancing. MADE TO ORDER x SIMMY/BLUE ROAN BY HEAT WAVE This steer is an embryo mate to the blue roan that was Overall Reserve Champion in the 2020 WV Livestock Roundup in Marshall County. He is also a full sib to the heifer Tag# 5S516 that is also selling in this sale. His full sib in was third overall in the 2018 WV Livestock Roundup Open Show, third overall in the 2019 VA Beef Expo, fourth overall in the 2019 Carolina Clover Classic, and Champion Market Steer in the 2019 Pittsylvania, VA County Fair. He didn’t get as much milk from his receipt cow, but should catch up if properly managed. With this history, all he needs is a good home.

HOLY SMOKER x MY TURN/WHO MADE WHO This is an exceptional smoke colored steer. He puts it all together very nicely with a combination of power, muscle, and bone, yet remains exceptionally sound. He is good in his lines and very well balanced. Anyone should be able to feed and finish this one. He will be competitive in any show ring. You will be better off showing him than against him. He has County Fair Champion written all over him. The smoky steers are winning a lot of shows nationally, and this steer should be no exception to that trend.

This is a very good steer that would have been very competitive in the WV State Livestock Roundup. He had a minor case of pinkeye earlier, so he did not go to the Roundup. He is very thick, big boned, and sound on his feet. This steer is very good in his lines and very smooth. It is hard to find any wholes in this one. The champion fat steers need to be over 1,300 pounds at finish, and this one will have no problem reaching this level if managed properly. He should be very easy to finish and will be very competitive in a lot of county fairs.

This steer probably provides the best side profile of any steer that we raised in 2020. He is exceptionally clean fronted with very good lines all the way around. He has kept a good hair coat and should have this advantage at fair time next summer. He goes back to a cow family that has produced many winners for us. We sold her 2019 steer at the Roundup who went on to be the 2020 Champion Market Steer in Oxford County Maine. He was shown by the Young Family. This one was born a little later, so we didnâ€™t take him to the Roundup, but he would have fit in and been very competitive. He has looked good since he was born.

This is a very good I-80 steer out of a first calf heifer that we have liked a lot all summer. Over the years, we have sold several I-80 steers out of first calf heifers that have gone on to win fairs. This one should be no exception to that pattern. His maternal Grandam produced the high selling lot of the Country Roads Sale in 2019. This calf will make a very nice county fair project.

This is a very good smoky steer. The Holy Smoker steers have done very well for us this year. They are very easy to feed and are winning shows all over the country. Every calf that we had out of him this year either went to the WV State Livestock Roundup or we have brought them here. These calves have the best appetite that I have seen in a long time, so they should be very easy to finish. This one should be able to win a lot of county fairs.

Most Unstoppable steers come with a very good disposition, so this one should be a very good fit for a young exhibitor who needs one that is very mild mannered.

This heifer is a very attractive female that is as well bred as you can find a cow. She is out of a registered Simmy Angus Bull with exceptional EPS all the way around. Her Dam is out of a registered Angus bull whose dam was the 2013 NAILE Jr. Champion Angus Heifer. Her maternal grandam produced a Holy Smoker steer that was in the top of his Division at the 2020 WV State Livestock Roundup. The Monopoly/Lifeline cows are the best in our herd. You can’t go wrong with this one.

This is a very attractive Heifer out of the very popular Charolais crossed Holy Smoker bull. She will perform well in the show ring and goes back to most productive cow that has ever been on our farm. All the cows in our 6L59 donor family have worked very well for us. The peach colored cattle continue to gain popularity. This heifer also goes back to a very good Impulse cow family and the MAB cows are proving to be very productive in the show circuit. This heifer has an abundant amount of bone, she is big footed, long bodied, with a very extended front end. She puts together a very good combination of traits and should improve your program.

This heifer is very well bred out of the oldest cow left on our farm. Her dam is 18 years old and still producing good ones like this every year. You don’t keep cows this long if they are not good ones. This heifer has a maternal sister in our herd that raised one of our top steers in 2020. It was sold to Jeff Miller in Cutler, Indiana. She has also produced our top selling steers in two past years. If you want one that will show well and improve your cow herd, this one will fit the bill.
