Welcome!

What a year it has been! Each year we look back and realize how blessed we have been to have an incredible set of calves, and more importantly, some of the best friends and family we could ask for. For 2020, this is especially true. We weren’t sure we were going to be able to hold our live on-site auction this year but with a little ingenuity, strict guidelines in place, and the unwavering support of our family and friends, we are pleased to welcome you to our 17th annual Kastel Show Cattle and Friends Sale!

As you would expect, things are a little different this year...

In the interest of your health and safety and the restrictions put in place due to COVID-19 best practices, we will be providing socially distanced seating under the auction tent, and other tents will be available for your comfort and convenience during cattle viewing and the sale.

The good news is, we will be hosting our Saturday night Cattle Fest this year, and you will still be able to view the cattle under the Saturday Night Lights! And although we cannot have the live band, there will be food! We will have pre-packaged snacks and refreshments, and food trucks will also be on site both Saturday night and Sunday.

Cattle are also available for viewing the week before the auction, and sales day staff and consignors are available via telephone for questions and discussions regarding the sale lots.

Please help us have a safe and successful sale! Practice safety during conversations, wear a mask—especially when in the auction tents—and maintain socially distanced seating.

Her soft belly and feminine profile make her extremely eye appealing.

This is the kind of heifer that can travel the country with the best of them and end up in your front pasture without any doubt. She is a full sib to Schroeders’ many-time champion market heifer, including champion at the Ohio State Fair.

This heifer has me excited as she looks to follow in her dam’s footsteps.

His power and balance on top of great running gear have him set to do good things in the future.

From the side he’s got phenomenal rib shape and extension through the front end. Then you get behind him and admire his big square hip and wide top. This steer has the look that I need in the show ring. Groot has his show career started off, as he was named Grand Champion Feeder Calf at the Kent County Youth Fair. His dam Legacy and granddam Dash have proven they produce champions, and Groot is no exception. Make sure to get in on this one!

Important Sale Day Information Terms: Payments with cash, check, or credit card (5% fee applies) made with the sale clerk immediately after the sale and before any cattle are loaded.

Liability: All animals and merchandise will be at the buyer’s risk as soon as bid off. However, the seller will provide for the safety of each animal for a reasonable amount of time following the sale. Neither the sale manager, owners, auctioneer, nor affiliated personnel may be held responsible for any accidents that may occur.

Breeding Information: Please note the details regarding breeding information for each lot. All bred females will be examined for pregnancy prior to the sale any changes to their breeding status will be made available sale day. All sellers reserve the right to two (2) successful flushes on all females sold. A successful flush is 6 or more eggs. Flushes will be done at the seller’s expense and the buyer’s convenience.

Embryos: All embryos must be picked up within one (1) calendar year from the date of sale.

All shipping costs will be at the buyer’s expense. If embryo insertion is done by a certified embryologist, one live pregnancy out of three embryos will be guaranteed. Seller will make every attempt to provide either the same embryo or one of similar value. If embryos are not inserted within one (1) calendar year of sale, guarantee is void.

Guarantee: All registered cattle sell under the standard terms endorsed by their respective breed associations. All steer calves sell as-is. Bred females have been satisfactorily examined for pregnancy, are guaranteed bred at sale time, and are assumed to be breeders without further guarantee. Due dates listed for bred females are the result of said examination and/or known breeding dates and are intended to be used as estimates of actual calving dates. No guarantee is made for the actual calving date. No guarantee, expressed or implied, is made as to an animal’s ability to produce frozen semen or transferrable embryos, or the fertility of heifers under one year of age.

Health: Buyers should make themselves aware of their respective state’s health requirements ahead of sale.

Registration and Transfer: Some of the offerings will sell with complete registration certificates issued by their respective breed associations. These certificates will be transferred free of charge to the new owners within a reasonable amount of time following the sale. In some cases, animals will sell as Eligible for Registry; in these cases, the animal in question may be registered by the new owner at the new owner’s expense.
