Jackpot Cattle Company
Bulls and heifers will be sorted and penned for easier viewing on sale day.
Join us at the ranch on Feb. 12 for noon lunch.
Initial bids are due by 3 PM.
Welcome, and thank you for your interest. Great opportunity comes from great challenge, so 2020 is our year! No doubt times have been tough, but we’re choosing to stay positive and focus on the future. We think this year’s set of bulls and heifers is a great place to start! We’ve always believed in the quality of our cattle. To have folks like you also believing in our program means a lot—thank you! We remain a small herd with big goals. Our primary drive is to give you quality over quantity, and that will not change; if we wouldn’t use a bull personally, we won’t try selling him to you. Fueled by your confidence in us, we took a leap and started using our own bulls heavily in our breeding program. Empire and Exponent rose to the top of our 2018 Class as the sires most complementary to our herd and ultimately yours. We think you’ll see these bulls put calves on the ground as good as—or even better than—any big name, big sire company bulls out there.
We continue to believe in CHS bull challenger for our feed program. We bucket-fed the bulls and think you’ll appreciate their quiet nature. Mid-test weights show these guys are still gaining like crazy; this set is on track to be our best performance group yet!
Videos available at: www.jackpotcattle.com
You will notice a couple more changes this year. First, you can find us as a private treaty listing with DVAuction. This allows you a larger, familiar platform for viewing the cattle. To place a bid, please call, text, or join us in person on sale day. No new bids will be taken after 3 pm on sale day. Our phone bid-off will begin by 3:30 and proceed as quickly as possible. Find all links and details at www.jackpotcattle.com. Second, we will now pay half the insurance premium on any bull sold, no matter the final price. We value your business, and we believe in helping protect your investments. If you choose to insure your 2020 Jackpot Bull through Heartland State Bank, you’ll pay half the policy premium, and we’ll pay the other half. It’s that simple. Cattle can be seen anytime online at www.jackpotcattle.com or by calling Clay at 605-461-1494. But, if you can, join us at the ranch on sale day!
Lunch, sponsored by Farmland Building Supply, starts at noon, and the cattle will be penned for easy viewing. As February 12 draws near, stay updated by following our Facebook page and visiting www.jackpotcattle.com. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Our Philosophy Retaining Interest We know many of you don’t raise cattle for show, and there’s at least a few of you who won’t even look at bulls that have seen a showring. It’s ok, but we do have reasons for our madness! We are retaining the right to 1/3 semen interest in our first three lots because we believe in their versatile, usable quality. There seems to be a belief that only big name, high priced bulls are worth the effort. Wrong. That’s a myth.
Embryo Packages & IVF Flushes
Here, at Jackpot Cattle Co., good cattle are good cattle no matter the price tag. We don’t need inflated, hyped up prices to raise or promote good, high quality cattle, and we don’t think you need that either.
Purchasing embryos, rights to flush, and the like are ultimately one of the fastest, most cost-effective ways to either start or significantly change your herd. There are many risks, but the rewards are extensive and should be weighed to see if embryonic work is the right fit for your business.
Don’t be scared by the words “retaining interest”. We aren’t looking to add more work to your plate, and we don’t want to steal your thunder.
We have trusted partners at every step of our embryonic journey. We do our homework before every purchase and every mating. We know the risks; we accept them as worth it, and we have developed our program with laser focus because of embryonic work.
But, we would like to keep outstanding quality in our own herd, and if you’re ready to market a bull beyond that, we’re ready to help you all the way! JACKPOT CATTLE CO.
If you have questions about our partners, our sale packages, or any part of the process, please give Clay at call at (605) 461-1494.

LOT 22
Lot 22 is our final bull and last purebred Angus. You can expect calving ease and quality backed by his sire, Confederate. This guy is long-necked and smooth shouldered with solid performance potential. Like sleeping all night and having weaned calves that belly up to the bunk? Here you go.
LOTS 23-36 Jackpot Heifers & Embryo Packages If you’re looking to follow fads or current cattle fashion, this isn’t the place. Instead, you’ll find heifers bred for longevity and multi-trait performance … front pasture kind of females. Max Nordlund purchased the cow in his 2018 Jr. National Cow/Calf Pair as an open heifer calf from us in a past sale. Congratulations, Nordlund Family!
We believe in consistency and a multi-trait selection process. Our cattle reflect that in their versatile, reliable, profitable performance and temperament for us and our customers. The females offered on February 12 come backed by our 40+ years experience, and they are among the best we’ve ever offered. These open heifers are not sired by highly-promoted bulls, which only means you don’t pay extra for a “brand name”.
Each heifer in our offering has been thoughtfully chosen with specific purpose. Owners of Jackpot Females often share their successes with us, so we know these ladies are performing in commercial herds, other bull-maker operations, and showrings around the country. Bid with confidence. Buy with pride. JACKPOT CATTLE CO.

Consistency might just be one of Shear Grade’s greatest attributes! Lot 33 is a long-necked, bigger framed heifer with the same good looks as her sire and other females he’s produced. We failed her on picture day and by not getting her commercial dam enrolled in Herdbook, but don’t hold that against her. This is a solid female; she can be papered as a half-blood if you’d like.
