Arrow Brand Genetics are again bringing to town a super offering of bred heifers. These females have been developed right and sorted into tight calving windows. The F1 baldy heifers on offer, group A, consist of 17 AI bred to Powerpoint and 9 pasture bred, making the whole group due to calve within 30 days. These heifers are powerful females, and true F1’s being sired by Horned Hereford bulls. Group B originated at the same ranch as group A, the Curt and Gene Olson farm near Esmond, and they are a high performing, broody group of females all safe in calf AI to S Powerpoint. The group C heifers are a real unique offering, originating in the Ben Walters herd which is saturated in McCumber genetics and every one of these heifers is AI safe to the $50,000 McCumber Steadfast who posts a +12 CED. This group of heifers is due April 20th and are medium framed females that will also make great cows. The entire Arrow Brand consignment is on a complete vaccination program receiving pre-breeding shots, bangs vaccination, and were poured with clean-up in December. The Blahna consignment for the 2020 Angus partners sale will be a uniform group of April calving bred heifers bred to a very calving ease trio of bulls. The service sires include a son of S Dry Fork, Powerpoint and S Performer 5809. These heifers are on a complete vaccination program, have been given their first ScourBos 9, Virishield 6VL5, poured, and on a complete Hubbard mineral program. The majority of these females come right off the Blahna herd and would be heavily influenced by Spickler genetics with the balance being high-quality locally purchased commercial Angus females.

The DBW consignment will consist of a long, thick, deep bodied, easy keeping set of heifers weighing 1200 pounds with ¾ of the heifer’s home raised off the top of their herd, none held back. ¼ of these heifers were purchased at this sale as open heifers from Timm Ranch. They are all ultra-sounded for calving date by Mandan Vet Clinic. Calving dates will be available sale day. They have 3 rounds of shots as calves, given PreGuard 10 and dewormed before breeding, have had Scour Bos and have been poured and dewormed again in November. All heifers have readable bangs tattoos. They are bred to calving ease Spickler bulls sired by Powerpoint, Courage, Open Country, and Chisum 255. Heifer bloodlines are Benfield Substance, Capitalist, Resource, S Whitlock 6197, S Dry Fork, Haynes Outright, Ten X, Unanimous, Game Day, and Summit. Roger, Tyler and Bruce have participated in the Angus Partners sale each year. Their consignment for this year includes 39 Angus heifers purchased from Timm Ranch and the balance purchased from reputable neighboring Angus herds. The heifers are sired by sons of Chisum, Summit, Rock, Foresight, King, Rainmaker, and Alliance. These heifers were summered together in one group and AI’d to the ST Genetics calving ease sire S Powerpoint WS 5503. The pasture bred heifers are serviced by light birth bulls from Spickler Ranch sired by S Powerpoint WS 5503. The heifers are on a complete vaccination program, including bangs and Preg- Guard, will have had their first scours prevention shot and should weigh 1100 pounds by sale day.

Haugen Cattle Company is offering an outstanding group of January to March born bred heifers. This uniform set of females is a portion of their replacement heifers. The heifers are AI sired by Tanker, Rampage, Bullseye with the balance being pasture sired by S Summit 257. The heifers are bangs vaccinated and on a complete calfhood and weaning vaccination program consisting of Bovi-Shield Gold+ One Shot, Ultrabac 7/somnubac, Inforce 3, oral Safeguard, and poured with Clean-up. They will also have their first scour bos shot. Haugen’s have also been Johne’s testing their entire herd annually for the past 7 years. Fred is bringing a top set of F1 Baldie bred heifers to the sale this year. They are sired by L1 Horned Hereford bulls from the Helblings. They were raised by Duane Smith, the 2015 NDAA Commercial Breeder of the Year. Duane has used Spickler, Tokach and Fast Angus bulls for years developing a cowherd with excellent udders, fertility, and longevity. The heifers are bred to a Thunder grandson, an Axiom son and a low birth Powerpoint son from Spicklers. At preg check the heifers had Virashield and Fusagaurd. They are due March 10 for 50 days and should weigh 1100 lbs sale day.

Lyle Hollingsworth always brings a nice group of heifers to be marketed through this sale and this year’s bunch is no different. They are uniform, purebred Angus heifers that originated in the Huechert Willow Creek operation, and Lyle has developed them and brought them along right. They are calm, pail fed, easy going heifers that will be a nice addition to any herd. They have been given Preg-guard, Anthrax vaccine, poured with Ivomec and dewormed with Safe-guard crumbles. The were ultrasounded to determine when they will calve to either a +9 CED Whitlock son or a +14 CED Summit son.

The Kellers are regular consignors to the Angus Partners Sale and are offering a very top end set of F1 Baldie bred heifers AI bred one day to S Powerpoint WS 5503 due March 20. They have a big stout set of Hereford cows with genetics from top registered Hereford programs in the region including Monument grandsons, a 447 grandson, a grandson of the Oxley 8020 bull, L1 bulls from Perman Herefords, two 5216 sons, a 3027 grandson, a 966 son from Mrnaks and a straight L1 bull from Miles City. In 2013 the steers from this herd weighed 820 lbs in early Feb and converted in the feedlot at less than 6 lb of feed per 1 lb of gain. This set of May born heifers is sired by Whitlock, a S Steamboat son and a Courage bull from Spicklers. The cowherd is also influenced by EXT genetics. They are on the Select Vac program, a full mineral program, are poured, bangs vaccinated and have had their first scours protection shot. This fancy bunch of heifers will make good cows that raise market topping calves, as Duane has been developing his Hereford cowherd for 44 years.

Bruce and Candice are consigning the majority of their bred replacement heifers to the sale this year. This is the very top end of the 2018 calf crop. Bruce and Candice have a closed herd, only purchasing top end bulls to add value to their herd. This offering is heavily influenced with Spickler genetics including females sired by Chisum, Summit and Lincoln bulls. The heifers are bred to S Whitlock 7130 and S McCoy 6270. These heifers are ultrasounded for calving date by Steele Vet and will be sorted as such. Also provided is the sire of each heifer as well as which bull they will calve to. The heifers are on a full vaccination program including spring and fall shots, plus they are on Virasheild 6vl5 and have had 2 shots. They are also poured. The Kuhn cowherd is on Vitafirm mineral all year and are expected to perform without grain. These cattle thrive and perform in a forage environment as a result of generations of selection for fleshing ability.

Mike’s herd is heavily influenced with genetics from Spickler Ranch, Entzes and Thompson Angus. The heifers are bred AI bred to McCumber Tribute 702, the high selling bull at Mc Cumber Angus Ranch in 2018. The pasture bred heifers are bred to Spickler bulls sired by S Anchor 2155, S Courage 486 and Tehama Revere. The heifers are due March 5 and are will be sorted into short calving groups. This set of home raised heifers has been heavily influenced by Summit 956 and features a heavy influence of Select Sires’ leading sires. They pride themselves on a cow herd that is easy fleshing, maternally driven, and docile and believe these heifers continue that tradition. They were developed on a complete vaccination program including Preg-guard. These heifers were AI’d to calve March 1st and cleaned up with light birthweight bulls. They were ultrasounded and have been sorted into 20 day calving windows.

The Zenkers are consigning a set of fancy home raised heifers that are heavily influenced by Spickler genetics including sons of Chisum 6175, Intrinsic, Summit and RA Lincoln. Additional sires include Sitz Upward and Connealy Courage. These heifers are bred to low birth sons of Revere, Dominion, and Foundation. They will calve March 25 to April 25 and are on a full mineral program from PNC feeds, with ultrasound done by Mandan Vet. Their vaccination includes two rounds of Preg-guard, bangs and complete calfhood shots, plus they have been poured. The Zenkers cull their herd hard for disposition and maternal soundness. Each year they sell one of the top sets of heavy steers in the area, which is a strong testament to the maternal production of their cowherd.

He has assembled a tremendous herd of Angus cows with the base being from his neighbor, Bill Breimeier’s herd. Since the acquisition of those cows, Russ has added top end genetics with sons of Sitz Performer, Chisum, Confidence, Unanimous, S Dominion, Intrinsic, Open Country and Lincoln all purchased from Spicklers. These heifers will be weaned, bangs vaccinated and PG’d open. These heifers are born in February and March and have been generationally designed genetically through bull selection to raise heavy calves and productive replacements.

The Mattson’s have built a top herd of cows that are bred to be problem free, highly fertile, and productive. There herd has been influenced for multiple generations by Mc Cumber Angus genetics and have a cowherd backed by Rito, Emulation, and Traveler genetics from Mc Cumber. They are bred to be maternally efficient, fertile, problem free females. The heifers are mainly sire by two top Mc Cumber bulls. Mc Cumber Fortunate 513, who was purchased as one of the top bulls from the 2016 Mc Cumber sale, collected and used on nearly every female on the ranch. We are excited to present the open heifer offering from first time consignor’s Doug and Kate Oe. These females stem from a working cowherd, commanded to forage until late in the season, with selection pressure being put on females that can work on their own. Oe’s demand cows with a great temperament, fleshing ease, the ability to breed back in 2 cycles and wean heavy calves year after year. The maternal foundation of this offering includes some of the breeds greats: Final Answer, Alliance 6595, Sitz Tradition, Bismarck, and Mytty In Focus. Oe’s have continued to build on this maternal groundwork by purchasing sons of Whitlock, Open Country, Absolute, and Final Answer, to sire the heifers in this group. These heifers are born March 20 – May 1 and are on a complete vaccination program including: Vista Once, Vision 7/Spur in May and Vista Once, Ultrabac 7/Somnubac, Ivermectin and been Bangs vaccinated this fall. The steer mates to these herd builders weighed 642 lbs. off the cow November 7th, with no creep or supplement. This group of heifers are PG’d open and breedable, will be poured with Clean-up prior to the sale and are ready to go out and become a valuable contributing group of females in any operation.

Levi is bringing another nice group of heifers to the Angus Partners sale and has not held any heifers back as replacements. These heifers are deep bodied, easy keeping heifers that are sired by Unanimous sons, an Anchor son, an Intrinsic son, an Elevate son, Expedition sons, a McCoy son and a Rito 9M25 son out of an Expedition daughter from Spickler Ranch. The Expedition females are some of the highest producing, nicest uddered, most fertile cows at Spickler Ranch. Many of these heifer calves are out of heifers purchased as breds through Angus Partners. Levi has purchased heifers from Zenkers in 2019, Flecks in 2018, and Gibbons in 2017. The heifers have been raised in a good forage environment with plenty of quality mineral, they are fed minimal grain, and are on a complete Vac program. As a result of the wet fall these heifers have been running on grass longer than normal, but have performed very well without being pushed. Levi has culled for fertility and selected for fleshing ability which has resulted in minimal input females that work well in an extended grazing season on the native pastures along the Sheyenne River. They are weaned, have been Bangs Vaccinated, are PG’d open and ready to breed. This is a high quality set of heifers from a top program, be sure to find them sale day.
