The cattle business is the people business, and we enjoy building new relationships as well as growing old ones through seedstock cattle. We would like to personally thank everyone who has taken an interest in the offering this year and in previous years. Whether you are a past customer, or considering becoming a new one, we can’t continue to do this without your support, and we will continually strive to improve the cattle being offered so your cowherd can become more profitable. The Red Angus breed has continued is unprecedented growth for a variety of reasons: exceptional carcass merit and opportunity for premiums at harvest, accuracy of EPDs, and adding value to commercial cross breeding systems. However, we feel the most important reason to be using Red Angus genetics is the momma cow. Her ability to calve easy, keep her flesh, breed back in a timely manner, and then still push the scales at weaning time is what has solidified the breed’s place in second amongst all others in America.

Our first and highest priority when making selection decisions is on the female. If we didn’t feel that these bulls’ daughters could work in any part of the country, they would not be on offer. It is the cow family behind the bull that separates the average from the best. We have continued to build a breeding program based around some of the most proven maternal genetics that North America has to offer. EPDs are a proven tool that we use in our program, but they are not the focal point of the selection process. In our search for superior genetics, we have found that there tends to be a discrepancy in many mainstream bloodlines with breed leading EPD values and real world functionality. Many times genetic selection decisions tend to be made on the computer playing with numbers and values, rather than using visual appraisal and common sense phenotype comparisons. At the end of the day, there are plenty of high numbered Red Angus cattle out there that don’t have the physical attributes to either be as good as their numbers suggest or to plain work at all in a non forgiving production environment. We have found that EPDs are just simply not all encompassing enough to truly describe the phenotypic necessities to raising profitable cattle, such as added dimension, muscle shape, udder quality, or feet and leg design. Because of this, we tend to use cattle in our breeding program that may have a more modest EPD profile, but simply put, are more correct and phenotypically appealing than what their numbers would indicate. Finally, our aim is to raise bulls that may not be the extreme from an EPD profile standpoint, but are balanced in their numbers, individual performance, and have ample rib shape and muscle, while improving feet and udder structure in their daughters. We realize this takes a lot of time, but that is our goal as breeders is to identify the cattle that can consistently do that, and ultimately help to improve our customer’s bottom line. All bulls come with a first breeding season guarantee, free delivery within 300 miles, and free boarding until April 15. We will, however, being offering a $100 cash discount to anyone wanting to take his or her bull home directly after the sale. We do not have any cooperators, and these animals have never left the place. We take pride in knowing our cattle very well.

Once again, thank you very much for your interest in the program, and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to give us a call or swing by anytime to take a look at the bulls or cowherd. If you can’t be at the sale in person, please see the list of sale day phone numbers for assistance. Internet bidding will be available through www.cattleusa.com. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, March 18th, in Dunlap!

Here’s some pretty cutting edge genetics with an interesting twist of proven performance and show ring success. If you’ve been to a Red Angus contest in the last decade, you will know that the Cita cow line is responsible for the Firestorm bull, and ultimately the ongoing list of progeny of his that have won anything from state fairs to national shows. To make this bull’s pedigree even more impressive is to mention his sire, Stockbroker 714, who was purchased from Pieper’s in 2018 and was one of the high sellers that day at $30,000. He has been used as extensively as any sire in our program and will continue to be a feature breeding piece. G31 is one of the heaviest muscled bulls in the offering, and offers exceptional growth while having starting at a modest 71 lb. actual birthweight. Heifer Bull • 9 traits in the top 25% of the breed • Impressive ultrasound scan values

His pedigree is as strong as any in the sale, as his sire is in our opinion one of the best breeding bulls in the past decade, and his mother is our feature donor cow who generated the Ranger bull that won Houston in 2017, and is currently residing in Mexico. She continues to carve out her place in the herd with outstanding sons, but more importantly the exceptional daughters that continue to make lasting impacts of their own. Gable offers a very balanced EPD profile, while pushing the scales at weaning and yearling, and is second to none in the group for fleshing ability. He had the highest IMF scan good for a ratio of 161. Retaining ½ Semen Interest

Don’t let this bull’s performance measurements scare you, his recip mother got mastitis about a month after he was born, and from then on was an orphan calf. He was actually my pick of the Soldier x Patty’s until that happened. I think with some more time and feed he will be every bit as outstanding as his full brothers, lots 1 and 2.

He is really sound and ready to go cover tough country. Moderate framed, female maker genetics that are pretty tough to find and expensive if you do.

Lots 36, 37 and 38 – Here’s a trio of ET sons of the ever popular Redemption AI stud by our proven donor, Lazy MC Miss 9X. She is the mother to lots 5 and 6 in this year’s sale, and the high seller in last year’s. She injects a shot of muscle shape and dimension to the Redemption bloodline, while also improving foot quality. These are some really thick, proven calving ease genetics. Heifer Bulls

The only reason we are parting with him is that we are transitioning a significant portion of our cowherd to fall calving, and won’t be needing his service this upcoming season. He is one of the best numbered bulls we have ever owned, and had an adjusted weaning weight of almost 900 lbs. If you study him closely, you also notice that he is an extremely big footed, sound bull with ample bone. He is the sire to Lot 21. Breed leading growth values with top 5% WW, YW, and ADG
